Great information Emma. I started my own small press back in 2017 after years of self-publishing, and it has been a roller coaster ride. I mainly publish visual poetry, experimental poetry, and asemic writing, so money isn't really something I need to worry about. Currently, I am studying editing and publishing at a university. I write strange and experimental books, and I don't know if they would appeal to a main-stream audience. I hope you are successful with your book publishing!
I’ve recently purchased ISBNs from Nielsen for my first self published book. I entered a publishing name that I came up with but do I have to create/register a publishing company or can I just list my publisher name when I upload to Amazon? Very helpful videos by the way! I left primary school teaching to write children’s books so your content resonates with me!
Technically that business exists. Yes you just list your name on Amazon, but also have a think about how you would like that company to function legally and financially
@@mat_willment when you go to the store to buy a book do you buy that book because Penguin House published it? Or do you buy that book because you want to read it? An imprint is not as important as everyone talks about. It is just something to market on their RU-vid channel.
The things they don't tell you if you create a publishing company you need to have a business account at the bank in that same in order to get paid. Business accounts cost a lot of money just to maintain them unless you go to s credit union. But the big boy banks don't play well credit unions.
