Setting Up a Really Fun Flower/Veggie Garden Space! 🌸🌽🥰 // Garden Answer 

What a fun project for the kids to enjoy! Wouldn’t some solar fairy lights on that tunnel be magical?

I love this garden. I know she designed it for kids, but me, the adult, would love this garden too. And the little bistro set, oh my gosh, perfect! I love the idea of garden rooms.

You could do a Berry Treasure, treasure hunt by placing the strawberry plants throughout so the kids can find and eat them on there way through the space(maze) :) This area is going to be so magical and create some beautiful memories!! So much fun!! Your kiddos are lucky to have such wonderful parents in you and Aaron❤

This looks sooo fun! What about calling it the Discovery Garden? I bet Benjamin would enjoy a journal where he could keep track of what he sees in his garden like birds, butterflies, earthworms, interesting patterns and shapes. Throw in an instant camera to add pictures and a pencil on an attached string for hours of fun. Kids love to graph the growth of plants so a few pieces of graph paper glued in and a retractable ruler he can keep in his pocket would provide the tools he needs or just count the wire fence squares. He could store his tools in a plastic box and just introduce them as he shows interest. It touches my teacher heart to watch all the hands on learning naturally taking place in your garden. I would use a few stings of solar powered lights to illuminate the space once things start to grow especially on the ceiling of the of the arbor.🙂

IDEA!! 💡 You should DEFINITELY add some lights! Get poles for each corner of the brick squares and add solar string lights. You could even do it around the outside perhaps? But how sweet and magical would that be in the evening with the maze of beautiful things. Just a thought but I would love to see some magical pictures of you drinking some cocktails or tea at the bistro set under the lights with a blanket for the kids to have a tea party. 😬💕

This year I'm using corn, sunflowers & Amaranth to create a "room" in between my cutflower garden & garage, for my son to have a secret area to play!

Whoa! That storm looks to be a scary one. This garden sounds like it will be amazing and so fun for the kids! I recommend pole beans for the big arched trellis! At least for part of it! The kids could help harvest beans lower on the sides and the trellis will offer a nice cool tunnel space for harvesting in hot summer weather. Aaron May have to help harvest the beans hanging from over head. I have had great luck with Fortex beans. They are still tasty and not typically too filled with thick bean seeds, even if they get long. Can’t wait to see everything grow! Good luck!

Put hummingbird feeder’s in the children garden make your own mix it’s just 4 cups water to one cup sugar NO food coloring it’s toxic then sit at your bistro table and count hummingbirds they are very smart and start to recognize you and will tell u up close if you let the feeder go dry I think Benjamin would love it. Ps do you think your mom will get a Bistro set today haha I hope so one can never have too many

Love the change up for the new space. It is always fun to try new features and crops. Less pumpkins will be more manageable. With the purple salvia you need Vermillionaire. The hummingbirds will show up all day long.

Love the urns with the cannas the plants look as though they are in a vase, it’s just that pretty already. Put a couple bird houses and a place for a drink for the birds, bees & butterflies. The children are going to love it. Do you have a kid sized table and chairs you can put out there.

So funny you saw that hummingbird because I was already planning on saying-why dont you put out a couple of hummingbird feeders in this garden and call it the hummingbird garden or just hummer garden. Also was thinking one drawer in the cut flower shed dedicated to board games and some other toys- tea party set, trucks, paper tablets and pencils and coloring markers and pencils that the kids can play with in their garden. Then the smallest frig you can find for drinks and snacks. Geez, can I come play! Also thrilled to see your mom and that you are going antiquing! I have been waiting ( impatiently) for one of those outings. I sure hope you take the camera - love those trips so much.

Last week I attended my first Chelsea flower show, ( I am in UK) and this area has a nod to a show garden in style. I think this area could easily be a garden space n a UK home. It's so fun seeing those Laura principles we know n love being show on a different scale. I am on third attempt of sewing my pumpkin. I suffered a second slug attack!!!

Laura - I LOVE your videos! I had some significant professional landscaping done with a variety of plants and I felt so 'at the mercy' of whatever was there and whatever happened. Your videos have EMPOWERED me to take control of the plants and landscaping - such that this spring, the last - most visible section of my property, I have created totally by myself and am following your guidance of how you are doing your new garden area - where I just find plants I like and create 'pockets and swooshes' and see what happens!! I've also discovered the importance of an "Inspiration Incubation" area -- that holds what some people may call junk -- but actually is 'good' stuff (like you mentioned 'retired' arbors, fence panels, pots, etc). It's SO FUN to find existing treasures just waiting for the right spot! THANK YOU for giving me such joy of education and inspiration that has totally changed my life and love for the sanctuary that my property has become!! God bless you and your family!!

Magical Laura! I’m a kid at heart and can’t wait to see the kids garden grow throughout the season! Watching Benjamin plant seed warms my heart and Samantha Grace may want to call the kids garden home this summer! Each season I plant up the seven hanging baskets on my front porch with a combination of geraniums, euphorbia and dichondra. Last year was the first and last year using Maverick Coral 🤣. Beautiful and striking but the bloom color saturation threw off a tropical vibe rather than the peaceful, muted tone I was expecting!

All I can say is that you and Aaron are Soooo blessed. It makes my heart happy to watch you imagine your spaces. Give God the glory for all He has given your family.. Thank you for allowing us to share in your life.. 😍🌾🌿🌳
