Graphics, camera and audio works fine, but, when I changed to a scene with a browser, my guests in zoom see the text in the webpage blurred ¿any suggestion?
Fantastic tutorial! To keep OBS and Zoom from covering each other when you click on them, you can detach panes from OBS (such as the Scenes list) by dragging their top bar, and resizing and moving them out of the way of the Zoom window. Then you can slide most of the main OBS window off-screen so it won't block anything if it comes to the front when you choose a scene.
Wonderful! ! Though...What do you mean - that you can share your presentation, without choosing share Screen in Zoom? Didnt catch that one. (for ECamm). Would I be able to see my notes (while I share my power point presentation?).
Hey Cat, I'm looking at getting a teleprompter and watched your video on it (your videos are amazing thank you so much!!) and I'm wondering... are you using a teleprompter to see your script in THIS video? I love the way you deliver your presentation and am just wondering if you're actually reading or totally winging it after some practice. You look and sound super polished, but also very natural. Thanks so much, Cat!
I'm on a Mac and for some reason virtual camera, despite being on, doesn't appear as a source on any apps. Am I missing something? Great series of videos, by the way.
This is gonna be fun!!! I teach students most every week. I really wanted something to help me be more effective. Some of my students are located all over the globe, hence, different language barriers sometimes. Many different styles and personalities! But, that’s why I do what I do.. So, wish me luck with this project!
It's worth noting that when you use video on Zoom (as with the virtual camera) you are sending a high frame rate, but lower resolution (720 for most people unless you pay more and beg for 1080). So don't expect people to read fine print in your on-video graphics during a call. Conversely when using Zoom's screen sharing you get higher resolution, but slower frame rate, so that's best for showing documents or fine detail, like the tiny labels on settings in an application.
The Zoom resolution is a drag. If you have a paid Zoom account, definitely email technical support asking for HD. They should give you 720 for the Professional account, and 1080 for Business & Education. Otherwise, I suggest sharing from a second monitor with your production (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mRqQBJ4ZNgs.html) or using a Zoom room device to increase the resolution (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BDqLb2Wis1s.html).
Thanks Cat, no-one else acknowledges that people have different preferences for absorbing information and verbal may not be it. This simple but powerful tool really helps.
Hi Cat, I will be Art Classes from my Home Studio via Zoom, starting on the 26th of January. I have been working - trying to get the equipment I need, in order to do this in a professional and hopefully - stress free way! Oh boy, did I bit off a lot to chew! I am not illiterate with the Computer, but I am suddenly feeling LOST at all that I need to do, hook up, program, etc. I just have been watching your programs and right away, I knew I had to have the Stream Deck. I know I will need things to flow smoothly so with all that I have to do with the class, this seemed like a good purchase. I unfortunately, do not have a good Camera to use - I thought I could use my Nikon D5600 - but it cuts off at 30 mins. My class will run for 3 hours a week - so for now, I have 2 webcams and my iPhone. I am going to use the FaceCam for the Overhead Painting Camera, the BRIO for the Overhead Palette Camera and for the Camera for me - well, I guess the Brio, I am not sure. I have the two Overhead Setups from Glide Gear to fit over the Artwork and the Paint Palettes/Mixing Area. I will use another set up when I have to Paint at the Easel. I am overwhelmed to say the least. I want it to be a positive experience for my Students, as I am teaching this through an Art Center where I have taught in-person before. If you can give me ANY TIPS, I would really appreciate it - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! lol! I bought two Microphones, a Lavalier for when I am at the Computer and one for the Computer area. I need clarity on something and I have a question about using the Virtual Cam. Do you manually change the scenes while you are sitting there, talking? Or is this something that you do "Run" through Steam Deck, are these portions Pre-recorded and then played? Or, do you create them using a Scene length timer, recorded flow that just runs once you start it? (Like when you make an iMovie)?? I love watching you - Always - you are great at presenting the Material and so thorough! God Bless you - Thank you! - Julia
Thank you for creating this. I wanted to learn about the new virtual camera feature in OBS and am excited to see that it's really pretty handy and easy to do.
well.. loved the tutorial ;-) .. Cat is a super presenter and very happy with Cat but had many issues with ecamm download..many silly messages after entering data.. deleted and downloaded several times as I liked the look of it... but it opens and then says email conflict !!! so guess they are an info grab?... shame really as I was gonna use it for some super people ;-( Truly great Brand leaders..
Thank you so much ! I am new in Ecamm... Until now I used just Zoom meeting with my classes but it was not so fun, so I decide to use Ecamm. I wanted to know how I can share my PowerPoint doc with Ecamm and Zoom ? Thanks again !
Hi Corinne, You will want to have your slides in Ecamm, then bring Ecamm into Zoom using the Virtual Camera. You can either share the slides using the screen share option in Ecamm, or bring the slides in as a camera using software (e.g. NDI Scan Converter, which is free), or bring the slides from another device. I have a video on how to do that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BqsAwaZDyUo.html
Cat, Thank you for the tips on OBS+Zoom. I have been learning a lot from your videos. I have one question though - are you using a Macbook Pro for these online webinars (via OBS)? What kind of system do you need to be able to handle OBS with Zoom? I find that while my Zoom calls are smooth, the video often lags when I go via OBS. Any insight?
I am using a 2019 iMac to run my Zoom meeting with Ecamm (I've used OBS, too, but I typically use Ecamm). It was 16GB RAM, but I doubled it to 32GB RAM. When I used my MacBook Pro (8GB RAM), I did find it struggled to handle running both. Something you will definitely want to do is close any program not required, and then start with simple graphics. If you have a tablet or second computer, you can offload some processing there.
@@CatMulvihill Thank you! I downloaded the trial version of Ecamm - and I love it! And thank you for the description of your gear. Yes, I am running all of this on a dual core i5, 8 GB ram - that, is probably not a good idea, when I also need to run OneNote, TI software (texas instruments graphing calculator), and youtube videos etc for my webinars . (I am a math teacher, and I do webinars for math teachers). So, it was really wonderful to see the quality and brilliance of your webinars - thank you so much for all your videos - I have learned so much from you already. I even saw your comments on another webinar (EcammLive, I think)
Great content so easy to watch ... and refreshing ... Could you do a How to bring guests to Zoom calls using obs or ecam.. ? How to use the graphics on the guest screens??
Hey, I'm a teacher and these videos are awesome! I'm following along and getting everything set up! One question for you though. I use a Mac, and am run my classes on Zoom, and when I present, the zoom video is flipped horizontally and I can't figure out how to change it! Any ideas?
Thanks for the kind feedback! For the Zoom mirroring, check your video settings under Zoom > Preferences > Video and under Camera, make sure "Mirror my video" is unchecked. Let me know if that works!
You've got great explanatory skills.I agree that it's simplest to avoid having to 'Share Screen' in Zoom; possible solutions in addition to asking participants to switch to/stay in Speaker mode: 1) Mention it in the pre-webinar notice (email, etc.) when you send the Zoom connection details; 2) In your pre-meeting 'waiting' scene, have a note about this.
I saw your other video about using stream deck with zoom. Ecamm is mac only. Any recommended alternatives? I use OBS to zoom... just considering options or maybe that is good enough?... Still watching this video so I see you may answer in this video! Haha! Cheers!
Wow! Stumbled upon your RU-vid instructions and can't believe my luck! I host Zoom meeting for my synagogue, American Legion Post and Toastmasters club. I just bought a Stream Deck and wanted to see how to integrate it with Zoom. Your videos were OUTSTANDING. Can't wait to try out the tricks and hints. Thank you for your professional and succinct approach to instructing. (You have an open invitation to visit our Toastmasters club (via Zoom) anytime as my guest!)
Hi Scott. Were you able to use Stream Deck to pop up your graphics in Zoom? I was thinking of this same solution. I feel stream deck's buttons would be easier to navigate during a call than looking away and mouse clicking a scene. Please let me know. Thanks!
Hi Cat, you have made my day with your practical tips in the end! They are very true as I was imagining throwing all kind of stuff into the presentation :-)
@@CatMulvihill It worked GREAT! I love the technique of sharing the desktop for my slides. I experimented with a friend and the resolution is absolutely better for my slides and things! I love this channel! I’ve had to bump somebody out of my top three to make room for you! 😂
