Loved loved loved this video. Even I have installed a similar plant shelf in my balcony, and since it's a west facing balcony I don't need artificial lights. But the LED light strip is a great idea. Your videos make me buy more and more plants, and now I have no place whatsoever ;). Love you Ann, keep inspiring!
It was so nice to see someone using the shelf I am! I can't afford the fancy glass ones a lot of tutorials are on so this was a breath of fresh air. Thank you! I never would have though LED strip lights could be enough but I think I'll give it a go!
Thanks for sharing this plant shelf set up video. I've been watching your videos since last 6 months and love how you present your content. I've been meaning to set up a shelf since sometime now. Infact, some of the ideas like waterproofing can be incorporated also otherwise for other counter top styling! I'll be using a white wooden cupboard with glass door for my calatheas to up the humidity. I'm going to line the shelf, and also line the walls with plexiglass to make it aesthetically pleasing and light reflecting.
We always had huge gardens when I was a kid but having moved to a metro it's difficult with space and the light conditions. Back then we never had to think how much light the plants are getting, but these are real issues living in an apartment. Loved the idea and can be tried too. I adore the huge white shelf you have setup inthe balcony too. Have been planning, hopefully by 2022. A new year gift for myself
You can use fabric gardening cloth block out some light to the living area. The brand should have mentioned the product will rust if my protected.Happy growing and stay safe. I like.
Very well comprehensive way of explaining the needs of plants and the care as well ….. A very good idea for a set up in small homes. I like the way you also explain the amount of light they need so that one doesn’t end up loosing them. Thank you
No wonder Ann keeps her plants healthy, even though she doesn't get enough sunlight!! Thanks for inspiring as always!! Also wishing Happy World Soil day!
Wow Ann, that's majestic It's true that u hv an amazing collection of plants but we should also appreciate that u hv an amazing pot collection as well...👍🌼
Sunday is for grandening and your video adds a perfect start to it❤️ I have been watching your videos, it always bring a smile to my face and a new energy to try something fun in my garden. Happy Sunday ☺️
1 week ago in my new appartment I made shelf of furniture and that idea was from your home tour video 😅 And now I'm planning to get this type of shelf 😇 💕
You always come up with something new, something unique and that always turns out to be awesome 💚 ... love to see plants in the living space... Setting up lights and caring inspires every green geek ...kudos to you Ann 💚
Hi Vishakha, These are regular strip lights but I have used a brighter one. This one has 120 LED's/meter. The color is warm white. Previously I was using 2x 10 watt Led tubelights in each shelf.
Wow...wonderful Love the way you looks at your plants 🪴 Looking at you looks like you have had a interior designing course... Or maybe some astronomy by which you know immediately what we needs now... I really need a interior set up tutorial for winters Thank you so much Ann 💓
Really waiting for that vegetable garden video. I have also tried growing few veggies in my small balcony. I think chillis 🌶 are very good to grow in the balcony, I have tried them (I took the seeds from dried red chilly, which my mother use in the kitchen 😀). I have tried some potatoe cuttings. They really did well but, I didn't get a good harvest because I was very curious and harvested it early (but there was a lot of baby potatoes). I have tried many such veggies. Hope you have a great harvest.
Hey Ann! Nice video as usual. Please consider painting your shelves, if you think the stains are looking ugly 😊 Could you show the cover, just for us to see what it looks like? Thanks!
Hi Ann, can you tell me when is the best time to buy indoor plants or houseplants like philodendrons, anthuriums etc. Like at which time of the year we can find a wide range and variety of plants in the nurseries??
Can u please make an elaborate video on how much lux of light minimum and maximum a plant needs as keeping indoors plants doent grow so well .this video helped me with the idea of setting up artificial light
Hi Sarah, ideally you should look for quality of light(frequency) rather than quantity (Lux) . But good quality grow lights which the plants need are expensive and there not many companies that make lights in form factors other than tubelights or panels. This is why I use normal lights which may not be the most ideal but enough to keep my plants surviving amd growing. Though the growth will be slow.
I love the way you come up with plant ideas. I'm moving to Bangalore soon and have already decided I want a shelf like this in the new place. Thanks for it ❤️
This is my first comment on any RU-vid video .I had to tell this ,You had been inspiring me for last 2 years .You created a hobby for me .I'm glad I started watching your videos❤️
Hi , I am your new subscriber and really appreciate your knowledge for plants. Dear I am living in a small south facing house where there is no sunlight anywhere. Please suggest some plants which I can grow nicely without Sun rays . Best wishes Minakshi
Hi maam,i have a doubt please reply me with a solution🙏my satin pothos's leaves are very small..why?i used to fertilize with npk on it..but no change seen
Hi Runak I got the LED strip at Rs 90/meter. This is the 120 LED/meter strip That I used. You will get cheaper strips with lesser number of LED/meter. The 10 mAh driver cost me Rs 650/-
Hi Ann, adore you and your knowledge on pla ts. I'm from Pakistan. The shelf looks absolutely gorgeous ❤ u can maybe add a lamp to the top shelf to provide some artificial light for those
I have planning to keep a shelf inside my home but always afraid due to light conditions inside the room. Thanks for video ,i must try this method . I just wanted to know by which app you measures its lux or brightness of the light?
Thank you for the video. How easy is this light set up? Can a novice DIYer do it or does one need experience with electrical stuff? The earlier hyllis one required experience.
It requires a little knowledge to fix it. The lights come in 5 meter strips. In my case Jake had to solder 2 strips together to extend it. Also we had to experiment a bit to see if we can run the whole 10 meters on a single connection or split it up. We ended up splitting it to get more power out of the driver.
Could you leave the LED strips that you used in the description box Ann ? And maybe if you get a lot of request on how to set up this strip LED, hopefully you make a video on it soon 😃🤞
Amazing..I was just planning to keep a shelf inside and didn't know how. There couldn't be a better time than this. Which app did you use to check illuminance?
Hi Swati, these are regular LED strip lights I got from a local store that sells electrical items. I asked for high power lights which have more LED's per meter.
Well! This is a much awaited and definitely useful content...🤩 But i do have a question how many hours we have to switch the light on per day for these kind of low light plants..
@@pritathota I generally make sure my indoor plants receive atleast 2000 lux light for 10-12 hrs a day. I believe a range between 1200-3000 is fine if the duration of the light they get is 10-12 hrs a day
@@GeeksofGreen Thanks Ann. Am afraid most of the plants inside my house get nowhere near the amount of light you said they should. I do keep them outdoors where there is some direct sun for a couple of days for them to drink it in and then bring them back in.
Hey Ann.. first of all best of luck for this setup.. hope the plants love it and you get to eat fresh herbs.. can you tell me where you bought your grow lights? The ones I searched previously were too large!
I got my grow lights from Bestva. The one I have is also quite large. But veggies and herbs need a good quality light, and in India there aren't too many options to choose from when it comes to light form factor. Will put up a review video soon.
I hv a question ann while seeing ur video. If i keep plants indoors in artificial light set, then do i need to switch on the leds always like 24 hours? If not how many hours?
For the conditions at my place, I keep them on for about 12 hrs and keep the plants about 6-10 inches away from the lights. That way they get a minimum of 2000 Lux light for 12 hrs a day which is decent for indoor plants.
Firstttttt one to watch, like, comment ❤❤🎊🎉 Anyways, i wanted such a video so badly as i have some plants in the darker corner. And weekly once i need to move them to the balcony which is a big task in itself. Very informative 👍. Its so true when we say "indoor plant is a myth. if you bring a plant home, bring the conditions for the plant as well"
