If you found this post helpful, it would be super cool if you purchased the components from my store or purchase items from my Amazon links. These posts are expensive and take a loooong time to make so the purchases make it possible for me to keep making them. Thanks in advance, I greatly appreciate it :)

Been practicing in the Sim and been struggling with this. Conceptually I knew to do this but seeing your late turns look exactly like mine I realize I simply wasn't doing it early enough. Thanks for the helpful advice vanover! I'm mostly a freestyle pilot but I have my first gates coming in soon. Can't wait to try it out IRL.

Alex is there a reference to your tune? I'm running a Neutron-R, MinivoltOsd,Aikon32, with RCINPOWERs. Using preset for Highpower with default filters. Wondering how you are running your filters and pids on this similar setup. Thanks

I'd also check references on ESC settings - that's a solid help

Nice video. Headsup has posted some videos in his backyard where he flies around obstacles so fast that it doesn't even make sense. Could you do a similar video and then just break it down, walk through what is going on and how that kind of flying is even possible?

oh believe me, vanover is flying slow for the tutorial. if he flies full speed it's hard to process what's going on

Really good flight demos. Understandable explanation on what is going on, what to do. I really enjoy them. Only one problem, and I'm not the only one. Us newbie Pilots are about 5 to 10 feet above the gate. Its more diving for the gate than flowing through it. Can you do a demo that shows how to fly low to the ground without cratering or bobbing up and down. I've mowed the lawn a few times. Thanks 👍💖🤓

that's just throttle control and that will come with more practice. i was like that in the beginning too. i found that if you fly with more camera angle it's much easier to maintain altitude

@@FlightClubFPV I have just went to 40 on my Hawk 5, really liked it. I am doing better with altitude. I guess my question is how can you tell how close you are to the ground.? I did just get a couple of gates to have something to aim for on the ground. Thanks for the reply. I love your channel.
@tehllama42
@tehllama42 5 лет назад
@@jlarson42 The lame answer is that you learn through failure more than anything else. It kinda all arrives at once - you get a feel for how and when to modulate the throttle to keep that altitude close, right around getting enough reference points to know how far off the ground you are, and it comes about the same time the rest of the spatial awareness picture comes in so that you know what orientation your quad is in to know how much throttle you need. There isn't a quick readable description that works, it just happens. What you can do to help it along is set up a couple of flags, or use some tall skinny trees - practice doing laps and figure 8's around those at any altitude, then start bringing yourself to try and stay at the top altitudes, then work down lower until you're starting to stay consistently at 3-9ft off the ground, THEN start introducing gates.
@jlarson42

@@tehllama42 thanks. That's a good suggestion. I'll give that a try, before I put too many craters in the schools baseball field. 😂 Happy flying 👍💖🤓
