Setting up the oil burner gun assembly for the annual service
This video is part of the oil furnace series of training videos made to accompany my website: www.grayfurnaceman.com to pass on what I have learned in many years of service and repair. If you have suggestions or comments they are welcome.
If you are a homeowner looking to repair your own appliance, understand that the voltages and fuels used can be lethal and can cause a fire or explosion. Know your limits.

just wanted to extend a huge thanks! Your vids helped me a lot. I'm a single Dad with a tight budget making it difficult to call a tech. Got my furnace working again with the help of these vids.

Your a special person to share your great knowledge of oil burners. Most techs keep it a guarded secret! Thank you.

It is an old Sunstrand 1750 rpm. They were pretty much indestructible and some are over 50 years old and still running.

Hello Sir I'm a single Dad from PA just bought this mobile home for me and my daughter I've been following everything of yours learning what I need to. I have a Coleman MR-C with the Wayne /Suntec Burner it was going fine then it started cutting out when it was running and coming back on real real quick like the power was getting cut to it and restored again over and over, and then it just got to the point where when I try to start it up so she can do her thing it goes into safety lockout every time at it's typical 30-45 second mark. So I thought something with the transformer like a poor contact @ the electrodes so I pulled gun assembly (nozzle was caked) replaced nozzle with 80°A electrodes were roughly ⅜" apart so I adjusted them to the typical ..⅛" apart, 5/16" from center orifice of nozzle and the same ahead of the nozzle. Checked CAD relay and lens. Both good and clean. Still going into lockout. I'm stumped.

Hi TY for the vids. How about a close up of the electrodes showing the setup of the gap and relationship to the nozzle?

Hi, that's probably because I haven't done it yet. I got a little sidetracked. Sorry about that. There is some info in the oil burner operation vid but it is not easy to see. I will be doing one very soon. Thanks for the reminder. GFM
