Just a tip for you kids out there who wanna buy this. I got my Powkiddy X55 two weeks ago and it came with JELOS version 20230831. I immediately updated via WiFi to 20230919. Shortly after, I noticed that PS1 games had audio stutters all over the place except for light 2D PS1 titles. I tried everything including switching emulators but it didn't help. I also tried flashing 0919 to the SD card from scratch but it didn't help either. Then a RU-vidr (Jacek Rusin) who tests the X55 a lot helped me. After some futility, he said he's using 20230903. I tried that version and all the PS1 audio issues went away. Somewhere between firmware 0903 and 0919, something got messed up and it's killing PS1. So, if you get an X55, take note of this.
I'm currently having issues right now. I've tried flashing the drive and now it is saying that there it is unable to find flash system. I managed to get it working but then I noticed all my library has been cleared and then it went back to the error of unable to find flash system.
Hey there,I’m not sure exactly what you mean here. Did you format the SD card. If it is the sd card that came with the drive, it’s not the best quality and doesn’t handle being formatted very well. With those sd cards that come with the device I just add and remove roms but never format them. Anyway, I’m not sure that’s what you were referring to.
@@adinwalls So I tried flashing the TF1 card, and when I tried booting up the software it is saying "unable to find /flash/SYSTEM". Are you saying that I need to buy an SD card and try installing the software on the new card? I was doing this since I've seen many videos saying that it is recommended that we connect the TF1 card and try flashing the system with an updated file on their JELOS website.
Yes. Your comment makes me think the X55 is probably one of the best deals for South Africa. With cheap shipping from Powkiddy it’s a great deal if you’re willing to wait.
Guys need help. My powkiddy x55 doesn't recognise 3do and amiga games. I have the roms in the right folders. Now...are the roms should be unzipped? Plus... daphne can somebody tell me how to make it works? Thanx
There’s an option to set your analogue stick in the button mapping section. And then you save your configuration as I did in the video to save your button mapping.
That’s an interesting portable game console for retro gaming. Is it worth getting for playing games on the down time? How do you download the games directly into the Powkiddy x55 ? I’d like to see how it transfers the games from the computer 💻.
Hi there you can’t download games directly to the device. Simply take out SD2/TF2 and plug it into your computer and transfer your roms to the correct folder.
@@adinwallsI did that folder to folder by name/or sytem and inserted again to the card slot #2 and no luck what i did wrong? I mean after transfer rooms what it have to be done for the rooms to appear and load in each system?
I've got the newest build JELOS 20231003 but my Nintendo DS games are freezing dead after a few minutes (to the point where I have to reset as I can't do anything) it's been happening with AMIGA games too and Saturn after adding them and they were ok at first, others like n64 dreamcast, ps1 etc are fine but I want to play the ones that are freezing, somone suggested going back to an older build but I can't find any older builds online, any advice what might be causing this and possible fix? thanks.
I bought a used x55 boots up tk jelos quickly and navigates the gui with ease but when i load a game, it says on the bottom left corner “zed controller not configured” does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Oh then you just need to map your controller within the emulator. If the game is being played with RetroArch, get into the Input menu u and map the controls.
@@adinwallsquick fyi if anyone has same issue as mine. Once in retroarch, the control will not work until it is configured so you won't be able to navigate the retroarch interface. It was necessary to connect a USB keyboard to the x55 USB input using a USB C otg adapter. Once in retroarch input menu, using the keyboard to navigate to the individual input assignments, you will have to hit enter on the keyboard and then press the button on the controller for several seconds until the button is recognized. Don't forget to save the controller setting on the input menu then save configure setting as well. Also make sure the hot key is assigned to the select button.
I spent $129 on a "fully loaded" version of this and while the rom set is definitely missing some things (no atari at all? No turbografx 16 only PC Engine?) It was totally worth $129. Beautiful screen 1000s of games. I grew up on NES, SNES and Genesis and such so this is perfect for me.
@@adinwalls just spent the last few hours adding 100s of roms including all of the TG16 set and a lot of Mario games from Nintendo (they cut all the Mario games out but left Zelda?!) Added all the Atari games.... a few PSX, DC and N64 games that I wanted. Tbh. I really wanted this for the 8 bit/16 bit and arcade games the most. I still cant believe this thing was only $130. I could spend the rest of my life and never play 1/4 of the games on this thing lol. Its amazing what theuve done with handhelds these days
I actually never ordered the RK2023. At the time of launch I assumed it was one of Powkiddy’s cheap and nasty devices and never thought of it again until people started saying they live it!😊
Is it possible to save the Retroarch configuration and use it in addition to the Emulatio station configuration? I want use setting which are not in the ES available., But after resart the game the setting switch back to default.
I recently received my RP3+ plus and I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in how small the screen feels. It just doesn't do any game justice. Previously I had been playing games on a very small screen (Q40) and my cell phone and both of them felt more fun. This larger screen looks like what I am looking for. I keep thinking about the X28 as well but X816 chipset isn't really powerful enough and I think that I am preferring linux to android for its streamlined experience.
@@adinwalls Yeah, I know it's less powerful. What I was getting at is that since X816 isn't really powerful enough to play ps2 and GameCube games well I might as well just pass at even trying to play them and go with something cheaper. I also want to try another Linux handheld to see how I like it compared to Android which takes too much effort to get looking and feeling good. Q90 feels soo much better to me than RP3+ with minimal setup.
Powkiddy sell them with up to 256gb cards. Technically it should handle more but I am not sure if there are any limitations with firmware or hardware to limit the sd card size.
A doubt. I have burned the last image of Jelos and when I start the console only Pico, Music and All Games appears. I don't know why I can't get the microSD 2 emulators or the roms. Do you know wath I should to have? Thanks
What I did was formatted my micro sd exfat, inserted it on the x55, let it create the folders, and then I put my roms in. Idk if it matters, I am on the latest Sep JelOS.
Can you make a video how to work with cores? I just have one and I update with Jelos and I put rooms in the 2nd sd card and i inseted again after a long time copying and paste and the rooms are not loading, i can't even see the directories, i need to follow a tutorial.
It’s not that that will definitely happen it’s just that sometimes the SD cards aren’t the best quality. Although it’s almost an urban legend at this point because I have eased a few of these cards for an extended period with no issues. There’s just always that risk.
Thanks, dude. My X55 just came in today. The system microSD is a Kioxia 16GB (hopefully genuine). The games microSD is ',Seapiy ' 32GB, which I'll replace anyway.
i've just bought the x55 but it has Jelos on it which is missing many vital features of Emuelec. Does anyone know how to get Emuelec on this device and which version to install?
@@adinwalls thanks, but I checked out TechDweebs review of the x55 and he said his came with Emuelec. With Jelos, there is no Bezel support, no way to download new themes and I can't rotate the screen 90 degrees for vertical games. All these are vital features for me.
Mine never shipped with Jelos, it was some sort of emulation station (like emuelec) but it was awful. But yes Jelos isn’t set up natively with bezels. I’m not sure about setting it up for vertical. You at need to contact the Jelos guys or the X55 section on the retro handhelds discord.
If nothing is working, there’s also the possibility that the SD card is faulty. Why don’t you get some new sd cards and try install a fresh version of Rocknix/Jelos
Powkiddy sent me a second X39 _for free,_ so you might think I'd "go easy" on the company… BUT NO… the truth is that _you should not buy anything from this company._ I know that many people in the audience will find the temptation impossible to resist, but the reality is that this system _is worse than_ an old android cellphone attached to a Razer Kishi controller (REALLY!)… and I could say "emulators running on the cheapest android phone you could buy", but you _probably_ already have an old phone gathering dust you could use for that purpose. And aside from the comparative value, the devices themselves ARE BAD and the company IS BAD. They lie to you, they break their promises, they have zero commitment to providing basic functionality that's promised on their own website, etc. -and they (evidently) do not have EVEN ONE employee competent in dealing with firmware (I have communicated with them directly in both English and Chinese).
The X39 is a vastly different device for sure. Powkiddy are definitely not great with quality control but I wouldn’t write them off. They make some great devices.
