Essential III offers a variety of enhancements compared to its successful predecessors, such as a diamond-cut aluminium drive pulley, a resonance-optimized MDF main platter, and MDF chassis.
The refined, high-precision platter bearing has significantly lower tolerances than Essential II. Essential III is equipped with an 8,6” aluminium tonearm with the high-quality pickup OM10 by the phonographic cartridge pioneer Ortofon.
The included Phono RCA cable, Connect it E, is a high-quality semi-balanced interconnect cable with gold-plated RCA connectors that guarantee the perfect connection.
Also, the special decoupling feet isolate the turntable from the surface it is placed on to deliver the best sound possible.

Thank you! JUST unboxed my Essential III. Hadn't owned a decent turntable in my life until now. As i looked through the enclosed set up "manual", that sinking feeling swept over me wondering... Same here. For the first 18 months it was easy to loop the filament and hang it over the hook. A couple days ago the loop keeps slipping out of the middle groove. I have struggled with this for a couple of hours. I may as well use the turntable without it. I know there will be potential wear to that Ortofon cartridge. I have no idea if Pro-ject provided this anti-skating weight but will check with the dealer. In all other respects this is an excellent turntable.

Mate - this is an amaziiiing video . This should on the main page of the project website and they should shove their instructions book ... This has saved me returning the turntable as I was convinced it' does not sound right for the amount paid . ... If I would not have read other comments here from people who had same issue I would have understood ... Shame on you PROJECT ... for not providing proper guidance . Thanks for this video. I have a Pro-ject Debut III turntable and an Ortofon Pro-S Stylus which has a recommended tracking of 4.0 but it looks like the tracking force doesn't go that high? Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

After you set the vertical tracking force setting (1.5) for the attached anti-skating ring, should the tone arm be snapping back? Wouldn’t this cause the needle to skip backwards while a record is playing?

Hi there. Quick question. What about setting the deck level using a spirit level? Also making sure the cartridge is set at the correct angle using a protractor template?

Hi! Does the Essential III SB have a phono preamp? Will I be able to plug it in directly to some Pioneet S-DJ60X speakers with their own power source (not connected to an amp)? With all the different models in the range, I've been getting a bit confused. Thanks :)

Unfortunatle with the Essential III SB you still need a phono preamp. If you are looking for a turntable to plug directly into the Pioneer S-DJ60X speakers we recommend the Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB.

@@living_entertainment I've considered the T1 before and am still not sure which one to go with between it and the Essential III. Were I to go with the III, would you recommend and any cheap preamps to use as a starting point before upgrading later? Thanks for your time!

@@FindTheGhost The Pro-Ject Phono Box is a great match to the Essential III and combined together they will definitely give you a cleaner and more detailed sound than the T1 would. It's the perfect starting point.

Absolutely! One of the most significant audio upgrades you can make to this turnable in our opinion.

I just changed to a cork mat, I rebalanced the arm.. should I apply the same tracking force? The cork mat is a bit ticker than the felt mat

hello, why does the engine of my new essential 3 with the belt inserted turn well, but if I start it without belt sometimes it vibrates without the pulley that turns? I just have to touch the pulley with a finger and it starts spinning smoothly. it's normal? or do I have to worry about my turntable with two days to live? Thanks

They have models with a Phonostage built in like the Essential III Phono but a preamp or amplifier is a seperate piece of hardware.

Unfortunately no. If you are looking for an entry level Pro-Ject turntable with a Phonostage we recommend the Pro-Ject T1.

You can get tools to make sure things are extra precise (check out our 5 turntable tips video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pyimWtwA9Is.html) but for this model, these instructions are more than enough to get you going. :)

when adjusting the counterweight make sure to turn the whole weight when setting to 1.6, just turning the numbered part wont do anything

I had a lot of problems to put the anti skate, it didnt stayed at the place! When I finally got it and started to play, it is very wrong! One speaker much louder than the other. Any advice? Looks like pretty basic but It just doesn't stay as easy as you show on the video. Its giving me Headaches, anyone else has this problem?

Solid video, and the manual is terrible! If you're an expert, you don't need it, but it seems it's either written for A: experts, or B: a poor, direct translation from German - too direct. I've set the counterweight to 15, but when I loop the anti-skate, it doesn't stay at all, and the weight always touches the platter i.e. doesn't hang in mid air. Any ideas? It's as if the thread is too long.

Its a little hard to say without seeing it in person, you might be best off taking it to the retailer you bought it from and asking for their help in store.
