It was at a big convention where there was much joyful dancing and many heads of government and plans for a complete takeover of Gaza and the West Bank. Daniela Weiss is correct. The two state solution is a thing of the past. The only viable solution is one state from the river to the sea - the State of Palestine. As for Daniela her grandparents and her father arrived to Palestine from their native Austria in 1951 and she is welcome to use her Austrian passport to relocate to Vienna or anywhere in the EU she chooses to.

This is why if you look at a map of Wet Bank settlements, they always surround Palestinian villages. That is intentional as a way to cut them off from one another, to allow for settlements to encroach on their land, and as a way to prevent a contiguous Palestinian territory (which could be the basis of a Palestinian state). The Israeli government have been intentionally doing this for decades. So it’s not simply a matter of political opposition to a Palestinian state, they have created these settlements (cities), which serve as a practical obstacle to a Palestinian state.

How have the Palestinain people been able to put up with the illegal occupation and theft of their land over the last 76 years I do not know. They are the most resilient and steadfast people I know. One account puts it at over 700,000 illegal Israeli settlers - 10 percent of Israel’s nearly 7 million population -in 150 illegal settlements and 128 illegal outposts dotting the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Israeli government needs to be sanctioned, boycotted and defunded by all states supporting them for what they have been facilitating for the last 76 years until this situation is rectified. I never thought in my lifetime I would see Israel so very quickly become a Pariah state..... Lets push forward for a Ceasefire now to prevent the continued humanitarian crisis and then a 2 state solution based on 1967 borders agreed based on International law. Justice is the only way to bring Peace.
