Willo is a "location independent entrepreneur" and has lived in Mexico 3 different times for 6 months each time. Sometimes trying new places, sometimes returning to favorite spots. When she's not in Mexico, you might find her in Portugal, Thailand, Portland, Florida, Bali...
Find Willo online:

Willo has lots of tools for travelers and location independent entrepreneurs on her website here: willolovesyou....
And her upcoming book willolovesyou....
And here's the tool Willo uses to stay productive (maybe you'll find one of us in your next power hour.)
www.focusmate....
And here's the laptop stand that Willo mentioned: amzn.to/3TAGbhv
Although Kat and I bought a place in Mexico, you might choose to rent and move around. Or you may buy a place and then still move around. I've met people who live inland, but have timeshares on the beach, or just find a monthly rental for the winter. Or vice versa. Many people who live in the hotter beach areas move inland during the summer. Or travel to Europe or the US during the summer.
There are endless ways you can leave the United States. Mexico is an easy destination, but you can combine it with other places too.
And you don't need to be a digital nomad - you can just be retired or take a sabbatical!
Support this channel by buying me a margarita over at www.buymeacoff...
The Mexico Relocation Guide is the perfect resource for moving to Mexico. We've partnered with them and you can get the guide here: mexicorelocati...

REALLY DISLIKE AIRBNB - they request unbelievably for your GOV photo ID and Ins. number! Was a landlord and this is completely unecessary. Additionally a third party keeps your info permanently on database. Simply when you check in to a rental ... they can ask to see your GOV id with photo. NEVER should you give your private info to ANY ONLINE site to be able to rent. Expecially when paying for your rental in advance.
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico Год назад
Interesting perspective. I would think the ID part is to make the people renting their places feel secure. I wouldn't rent my place online without some system to make sure the renter is somewhat legit. I'm guessing you did background checks on your tenants, right? With Airbnb, that's not possible. Maybe it could be an alternative route?
@Paterson340
@Paterson340 Год назад
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico listing online is very safe for the owner - if you have money up front AND ask for ID at time of arival and check in. Let the renters know always in your communication this will be required when they arrive otherwise the keys will not be handed over. This works even better and is much safer for the renter. This should be optional. The database does not protect your privacy completely and is kept indefinitely.
@Paterson340
@Paterson340 Год назад
PS for seasonal vacation rentals anywhere...no background checks should and are typically not needed. A deposit, scan and check of id when arrive and of course full rental amount before arrival. For one week, or a few to a month to month background checks are not the norm.

@@AlmostRetiredinMexico I'm not used to the abbreviations. I know CDMX is Mexico City because I've seen that one a million times. But the other two... I going to guess QRO is either Queretaro or Quintana Roo, and SMA is San Miguel de Allende. Are abbreviations commonly used for states, or cities, or both? Is there a place (website) I can go to in order to learn the abbreviations?
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico Год назад
@@alendryaldimera You did well. QRO is Querétaro. I think there are accepted abbreviations for the longer city names. PV is Puerto Vallarta. Cabo is Cabo San Lucas. GTO is Guanajuato. I use GDL for Guadalajara, but I'm not sure if that's common. BCS is Baja California Sur (AKA Beer, Chips and Salsa.) Doing a little research, DF is an old abbreviation for Mexico City. It was known as the District Federal. I don't know of anywhere that catalogs these. Maybe a video in my future!

@@AlmostRetiredinMexico Thanks for adding a few more abbreviations to my knowledge base. BCS... that's hilarious. I tried it, for 34 years, and all I can say is Mexico is a 3rd World Country period! Yes some great perks but at the end if the day, depending on where you retire you may not like what you see. Do NOT retire in or around any popular Tourist destination, I tried Playa D Carmen, but in the past 3 years, I grew tired of the murders, and in the past year the number of women found shot, chopped and garbage bagged on the Tulum Playa D Carmen highway made me leave, not to mention the what seems like Taxi Drivers being found dead in their trunks shot in the head! I don't recall ever seeing dead women on the side of the road night after night in say Toronto or New York. In Mexico Femicide is popular way to dispose of women, teenagers and kids. Sure you could live out your retirement and never see a dead body, see a Cartel shootout or even Police shootout, but if you did or do you'll, depending on where you came from miss the nonviolence of home....

@@natalias1212 It depends on where you are because there are less dangerous areas than others, it is not generalizable and it is not in the whole country, it is in the north, especially if you move to heights, you will be safer in the country as Mérida Yucatán this is due to a bias that we have to think that the news can be generalized when only pure murders happen Mexico has its problems and I will not deny that increase in violence But it is not generalized throughout the country It is not the same

I used to be just like this women but I'm a man. Ok, when you are young life is different meaning that wow, everything is so exciting. Then, when you get old ok, if you still have some brains then everything will be just like dream and so live with your passion just lie this women is doing now if you got it because it will end if you live long enough to be old. Gosh, just look at this educated man the Jefe of the congress Mr. Michanel or whatever his name is. Gosh, he had so much passion for politics and life, now he is just staring at some point for a few seconds and then wake up so again, live and enjoy life if you can so more power to this women while it last because it will end.
