This process is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! Amazon should redesign the app and the connection process. Every time I unplug it or turn it off I have to do this ll over again. You seem to be confused by it as well and you seem much more tech-savvy than I. ;/

The dot said it was connected to my wifi.told me to go back to the app.I did but had no idea what to do.Gave up and threw it in the garbage

I have done all the things that you did in the video, but i've never got the "Connected to Echo Dot", it just keeps asking me to go connect to the Echo Dot from the wifi settings but i still don't get the message that i am now connected. Please help.
