Thanks for the guide. One step that I needed to complete on my PC was to enable virtualization in the BIOS for MSI AMD motherboard it was called SVM.

Just an fyi, for those who are running into the "soft lock" of your cpu, it's due to (at least for me) the version of VirtualBox (6.1.32). Workaround is to us 6.1.30. Solved my problem.

What is the port you refer to at 1:27:35? I setup port forwarding on my router but I am still not able to connect and it says disconnected. My block height also stopped syncing after a while

Thank you Jefke! Great video! With some hiccups (windows and router issues), I was able to setup my first node on my PC. Going to see if I can setup a 2nd one on a new minipc. Several questions: 1. How do I properly shut down the node for maintenance? 2. Do I have to keep the command prompt window open still or can I close it? 3. Do I have to run option 14 from the multitoobox on both nodes when setting up my 2nd node? Thanks again!

1. sudo shutdown now 2. nope you can close command prompt (dont close virtual box :) (or run it in the background) ) 3. you can run it, but I would only do it for the secondary, as your first one is operational.

Hi i would like to run a fractus node. IS every step of the process going to be same ? All i have to do is allocate 10 TB of HD space in the start right ?

if you have a amd processor you may have issues with VirtualBox. Numerous people have had issues including myself. I had to use VMware. and even then I had a hard time with the flux part.

When installing the Ubuntu (26 min into the video)my pop up says " this computer has no operating system it asks to erase disk and install Ubuntu . Do I choose this option? Will it erase the virtual disk we made in the earlier steps on the virtual drive or will it erase everything on my windows machine ? Any help would be appreciated.

check your install, but when it asks what disk to use, it should start with VBOX, if it does, that means you are using the virtual created disk and you are good to go

My PC restarted due to a windows update and now after reopening the virtual box my benchmarks now show 0 in all of the parameters. What can I do? I'm using the same virtual machine as always and previously my benchmarks were great.

Thank you for the tutorial. Setup up my first node, too log back into the multi tool box using the cmnd prompt would I just use “ssh username@ip” ? Because it went offline overnight and when I try to go back to the menu it says “port: 22 connection timed out” any fix to this?

check if the ip has been adjusted, log in via the virtual box and check ip. If it did change, make sure to reserve the ip in your router, so this doesnt happen again if the ip hasnt changed, install openssh on your server

@@Jefke the same ip is showing up. I have dynamic ip and have it reserved on my DMZ settings. Its still saying “port 22 connection refused” How would I install openssh and do you mean inside virtual machine or the cmnd prompt?

Update 2023: You need to open Port *16129*!! it was enforced, 21 january 2023.

I think my problem is with port forwarding. I'm using the virtual box like on the video. But what would be the right ip address to setup port forwarding??? It is not clear on the tutorial and is a very important question!

port forwarding toward the VM IP, not the physical box iP

@@Jefke My friend, sorry to come here, but there on discord it's impossible to get an answer. I did the whole process again, I asked the ISP to define the fixed IP, this helped a lot, this time everything seems to be working correctly, but I can't access the front end at all. I need help with this. It may still be something with respect to ip or port forward, but I did everything as it is in the tutorial and it doesn't work.

@@Jefke Mission Accomplished!!!! The problem was exactaly the ip for access the front end. When we finish the installation in ubuntu, it says to access the front by an ip address, which is actually wrong, because to access the front it must be the ip address of the virtual machine. Which as you said, is the same that must be configured in port forwarding. Thank you again!

so which is the correct ip? do you port foward in your Router but if there is alrdy have one node installed it wouldn't accept the same port range. Pls elaborate.
