Rossella, this is a great Salad, We made it at home every Christmas, when the family was together. But Mom and Dad are gone, and I do make it for my self, I am from Philadelphia, and now living in Florida. All your Nonna's are the the greatest !! reminds me of my Nonna's. In Italy what Italian Americans know as the "Feast of Seven Fishes" is known in as "La Vigilia" due to the strong Roman Catholic influence. It is a huge multi-course seafood feast. I believe the number 7 took on meaning in the Italian American communities.

Dear Rosella I recently discovered you on Facebook and some how found this. Have been celebrating The Feast Of The 7 Fishes since I was born. Now I continued the tradtion with my wife and now 5 kids. My Nonna had a version of the Salsd you made but I really like this recipe and will definitly make it for Christmas 2023. We usually have about 30 people over each family contributes a Fish Dish. Since everyone has so much fun we look forward to Christmas Eve every year. Thank you Rosella, I wish my Nonna were alive to see your videos,and share in this most wonderful feast

Couldn't stay in bed thinking I have to make Josephine's Salad,,,5:30 christmas eve morning Made the holy water so nice thinking about my faith that way, I eliminated the Octipus & the scallops got the La Monica Scungili in the can,,,,, Let me tell you I give this 10 star's it's perfect I had to tweak the dressing a little, I cut back on the lemon juice & used Goya xvoo ...Liquid gold the liquor from the mussels was over the top, I used some of it for the dressing & the rest I put in the freezer for soupa de mussels, this is a keeper Thx so Much , "PEE-PEE_NEDJA" ( Nic- Name- for Josephine in Sicilian) My Mamas name was Josephine & my daughter, beautiful name, Merry Christmas Everyone enjoy this salad...not waiting till next christmas to make it again.
I made this recipe for lunch and it is sooo good. I don't know if I want to save some for my husband or not, lol. I only used 4 types seafood: mussels, scallops, octopus and shrimps.
I can't wait to make this salad - it looks so scrumptious! I do have two questions: 1) If there are leftovers, how long will it still taste fresh if refrigerated? Or can it be frozen? 2) What kind of white wine do you use? Thank you in advance for your kind response!
To get a crisper texture on these fishes, it would be good to put each of them in an ice water bath for ten minutes for a crunchy crisp mouth feel. Just before seasoning and assembling. It's a wonderful dramatic difference . Give it a try, you'll love the texture.

All apologize , but musells do not need to be desanded since they do not grow in sand , they are harvested on pilietings . Good though still happy with the outcome .
I love seafood salad. Many times for Christmas, I would stuff myself with squid salad and ignore the foods others would like. BTW, mother Corleone Sicily, father Palermo Sicily.
So - Who is the real cook here? We have an older lady who really knows what she is doing. And a younger lady who is taking the credit . I would like to see the older lady do a series of her own.
Why won’t you just let her do the cooking in peace for the special love of God!!!!! We get it’s your show but you are in the way and won’t even let her explain her recipe herself
It looks delicous, but it looks so uncomportable for poor Nonna. They are on top of each other, maybe she should work in a seprate plate and combine after.
@@cookingwithnonna Keep doing just what you're doing. Everybody thinks they have to be a critic lately. It's your show, and it's a brilliant concept. You keep it organized and make sure all the info necessary is communicated clearly so that the recipes can be replicated. You bring the nonnas to us. People want to self design every thing they encounter to meet their own small whims. That's their problem, not yours. I look forward to making this seafood salad soon. It's not something I've done before, for some strange reason. Brava!
