A corner pin split conversion in 5-pin bowling is a little bit more easier to do than in tenpins. Because with the rubber rings and the lighter weight of the pins, they bounce and can ricochet of the back wall and back on the lane. I saw it done on a clip of the 1995 CBC Championship 5-Pin Bowling TV show on RU-vid. The 5-pins ricocheting of the back wall are about nearly twice as frequent than in tenpins. But a tenpin bouncing of the back wall is very rare.
I only remember doing it once (except for coming out of the gutter). And mine was neither as spectacular nor as ugly. I skimmed the right of the 7 at nowhere near the speed these guys were throwing and it bounced straight off the left side. I was 12 or 13, throwing a 12# ball, with a 165(?) average. (I might even actually be able to confirm that)
Definitely crazy shit going on in those pits. Four or five times a pin comes flying back out past the sweep in a few dozen shots? Sure, it's not something you never see, but never that damn often
I would love to do this sometime. I’ve gotten close a few times to making the 7-10 but I’ve never made it. I did make the 8-10 though by bouncing the 10 pin out into the 8.
I would loft the ball as far as I could in the air. You would have to loft it almost to the end of the lane. i would use the least heavy ball that I could.
