like other people have already said, "heng:garæ" was s.coups' return after his late 2019-early 2020 hiatus and this album has a special place in many carats' hearts 🥺🥺 "left & right" was my own intro to seventeen, i watched the mv and i never looked back!! the whole album is super comforting and was their first million-seller! this era really drew in soooo many new fans "henggarae" (헹가래) is a korean term for the act of throwing someone into the air in celebration-like the boys do with hoshi in the l&r mv, and you guys already know the word!!-and they actually did this on music show encores every time they won with the song (and they nearly obliterated vernon in the process LMAO). "do your best, but maybe not sometimes" is now a motto i live by 🥺 p.s. there's a b-side on this album without an mv called "kidult" that is just so incredibly touching and lovely, written mostly by s.coups' during his hiatus, if you fancy checking that out or if you ever do full album reactions! it's usually referred to as a comfort song, along with other tracks like "hug", "circles", "campfire", "healing", "smile flower", and "all my love"

There's actually a meaning behind vernon making Jam in the mv. In one of their concept videos (i think) vernon said "We are born and we produce fruits. And with those fruits we make jam… and we share it.” It's like them, seventeen using their innate talents to produce music and sharing it to everyone

Every song in this album is literally a gem😍 . (Hengarae) means to toss someone up (not sure about the literal translation) . It was their first album after S.coups came from his haitus so they were telling us it's okay to take rest sometimes and the road is not always straight we also have left and right ⬅️➡️😉 also this was their first album after joining hybe in 2020.
"Do your best, but maybe not sometimes" I dont rmb, cmiiw but i think in this era cheol took a mental health hiatus (or he was coming back from one, im not sure) so these uplifting messages abt going through rough times and taking things at your own pace were directed as much to the listeners as to the members themselves i feel like, same with the next album semicolon (home;run) Don't push yourself too much, don't blame yourself if things go wrong. Let yourself make mistakes, do what you're capable of doing 🤍 This is one of the reasons i love svt sm, the positive reaffirmations and motivation their songs give me sometimes when im really struggling They changed my life and I can never thank them enough, even just by forgetting that theyre idols and going straight to comedy most of the time 😅 Sorry abt the sentimental long comment, life is hitting me rn but I'll get through it. 9:54 every comeback seventeen acc releases pictures for phone wallpapers and i think that jar had been my wallpaper for a while (and the scoups car going up. rn now my wallpaper is the do your bestbut not sometimes. just realized how i love this album so much) 12:12 oooh never thought about this that's a nice interpretation! henggarae is really such a nice uplifting, reassuring and and comforting album. they described it as a youth and journey album but they didnt set like an age for youth. however old you are this album is for you and for your journey. i think a lot of comments already said it just want to add how for every seventeen album theres usually a unit song. but for this one it's all ot13 songs it's like saying we're all in this together for this journey
Henggarae is one of my all-time favorite seventeen albums - it is especially close to my heart as an scoups biased carat as this album was his comeback one after his hiatus in nov 2019. he wrote the song kidult in this one while he was on hiatus too, one of my favorite b-sides. hearing it live for Follow tour made me cry haha also, the 3 leaders actually have an album commentary video for henggarae. i forgot where but there was a carat who shared their interpretation of My My's choreo on tiktok/ig reels, how coups stood first in the choreo, and wherein in their first live stage for this, all 3 leaders wore "captain hats", showing how svt runs like a well oiled machine with these 3 leading them. it's just so cute ❤
"Left & Right" got Seventeen invited to EVERY cook-out, if they weren’t already. I loved S. Coups' moment at the end after missing him. I imagine all us Carats are going to be just like we were here when he’s able to perform again. Also, Coup's lyric in "L&R" is a call-back to Vernon's "buffalo" lyric in "Hit". What I got from the song is that, regardless of age and what society's expectations, it's ok to not have all the answers, and it's ok to fumble along the way as you're figuring things out. if you see the live performance of My My, the leaderz (coups, hoshi and woozi) will use captain uniform because they are ship theme, and the rest is the crew. and it's giving such a meaningful pictures that even how much they treat each other equal, and they both work as hard together, but the figure of the Leaderz are also as important to the group.
oh yeah and with my my, whenever they performed on music shows, at the last part of the bridge that's kinda quiet they'd say the music show's name! it's so cute and fun and also proves their mics are on which yk we always appreciate
Honestly all of Seventeen's songs are good, (obviously!) but their mental health ones hit me the hardest and with the most impact. My My and Left & Right, as well as HomeRun and Hug and Clap (and now Cheers To Youth) are all songs that can make me cry or make me feel encouraged or whatever I need at that moment. Except Hug. That one is always full on tears because those are lyrics that I, as someone who battles major depressive disorder, really just needs to hear. Such a great song honestly.

Ah! I'm so excited for this reaction in particular! Left and Right is when I really started to fall in love with Seventeen. It's still one of my favourite title tracks and eras of theirs! No pressure at all but, I'd highly recommend watching their studio choom performance of it!

Henggarae is my fave album if not top 2 the theme of the album is so reassureance. They telling you whatever you choose is okay, how ever you feel is okay and is okay to feel it. And through all the things you are going to get through they are too and together we are going to get it through too ❤❤❤❤
Also, it has a very special place in my heart, because Scoups was a such big part of it. He and I (and many carats assume as well) have suffered from anxiety for a very long time. And, he was capable of sharing his emotions through this album especially through kidult. I remember them saying (the leaders) that they felt finally in peace and relax of sharing and finally being honest about what they went through and what they are feeling because mostly (in the time of released) the fans have grown with them and we were about the same age (which I really felt that because I am literally the same age as many of them). So they were happy to share and experienced new things with us but also be nostalgic about their past. I love Scoups ❤. This album really hit the spot for me, it makes me feel like one of them 😊, like a friend
heng:garæ is basically the album of my youth especially since svt released it back when i was stuggling the most in my youth. the whole album itself felt like a reassuring tap on my shoulder and a comforting hug with its meaningful and encouraging message. and as a carat, this album and era were also very special and close to our hearts because it was their first album release after seungcheol came back from months of hiatus and after the acquisition with hybe (which was the time where carats felt a lot of uncertainties & worries for svt) thanks for this reaction ❤

15:24 this part of the choreo recalls the hand choreography for Falling Flower but backwards (like pressing rewind the hand choreography of falling flower). Many of their choreography recalls previous ones. Example: Mansae had Adore you; Fearless had Fear; My My had falling flower. There are others but too long to list them all.

Since you watched Home;Run at the beginning of this series you probably won’t watch it for a video again, but it continues the Left and Right M/V storyline a bit lol! L&R ends with Cheol’s car crashing and at the beginning of Home;Run he’s emerging from a crashed car
A really fun video i recommend watching from this era is the Dingo Dance Mafia (i think thats the title (?)) ! It's basically a game of mafia where the group has to perform the choreography to their song but the mafia are listening to a different song than the track !! ^^
