Can we just talk about how the lines “Maybe Prom night?/ Maybe dancing?” Are delivered real quick? Veronica asks “maybe prom night” as if she’s testing the waters, thinking this tough loner is going to say some typical one-liner about prom being stupid. But then JD responds with “maybe dancing?” In this hopeful tone that implies that it’s all he’s ever wanted on some level: to do something typical, to live a normal life, to just be seventeen, to dance with the girl of his dreams at prom. And once he reciprocates the desire to live normally, it just opens this floodgate of relief and affection when Veronica says “don’t stop looking in my eyes!” Like she’s finally got a hold on this drowning boy and is ready to pull him to safety. Those lines always break my heart a little.

THE SADDEST LYRIC HERE IS JD SOMEWHAT REVISITING HIS MOTHER'S DEATH AND SAYIN "OR THEY VANISH" IT JUST SHOWS HOW SAD AND FRUSTRATED HE IS AT HIS MOTHER'S DEATH

in seventeen it says "hold me tighter even closer ill stay if i am what you choose." but in i am damaged it says "please stand back now little further dont know what this thing will do." it truly represents how jd and veronica changed through out the time they spent together.

I like musical JD more then movie JD. Movie JD is just insane, while in the musical, he has depth. Both JD'S care fore Veronica, but musical JD seems to care a little more.

"Yeah we're damaged, badly damaged, but that does not make us wise." So true, damn, this was a good line. I feel like people often mistake having traumatic experiences with being more mature and more worldly. That's not to say survivors of trauma can't be more mature or wise, but correlation does not equal causation. I hate people who think of themselves as somehow better than others or wiser simply because they've had a rougher life. What matters is what you take from those experiences, that you use them to become stronger and wiser and kinder, not that you had them. I had a friend in middle school who unfortunately hadn't had the easiest life because her parents divorced when she was young and her mother whom she lived with didn't have a lot of money. Even so, it wasn't an excuse for her to act all high and mighty and treat me like I was lesser just because I had led a "better" life and both my parents were still together. And anyway, what she didn't know was that I was also going through some things as well. I just didn't flaunt it like a badge of honor the same way she did and tended to keep my problems to myself. But my life wasn't perfect either. No one's is. We all have our struggles and insecurities, even those who seem like their lives are perfect and they have it all.

Holy shit I actually teared up and almost started crying on “maybe prom night” when they got all dressed up and started dancing, knowing that it would never happen and JD would “never see his senior prom”. This is beautiful.

I love how in your other animatics JD has the black smoke that brings darkness not only into his life but starts to infect Veronica (when his smoke seeped under her door). But in this one Veronica has this bright smoke that brings light to her and JD and shows what could have been if he kept his promise. It's symbolizing how even though JD hates himself and is a dark and twisted person, she brings him light and almost makes him forget about his crazy ideas. I love your animatics. They're very creative and original. Keep up the amazing work!

I love how JD gets mad and then whenever Veronica talks to him he just melts 😂

I still enjoy watching this to this day. If Hollywood ever decides to make the Heather Musical a movie, I hope this would be the visual representation they would put for Seventeen.

Because smoke, like JD later in the musical, is suffocating, and deadly, and cannot be seen through and must be avoided, But JD at this point loves Veronica, and he is transparent, she changes him into something calming, something rejuivinating, (water) and something that is easily passed through, and beautiful, because together they can be something alright, rather than something dangerous.

familiar presence after only a few hours and you think maybe there's something to this after all, maybe it doesn't always have to hurt and maybe (just maybe) this feeling is a good reason to keep fighting that lingering darkness in your mind. you don't know how it feels to love them until you kiss them for the first time at the piano bench, softly and sweetly and you just melt under the gentle warmth of their lips on yours so tender, so delicate and wow, it's so heavenly you can hardly believe it's real. you don't know how it feels to love them until you come so close to visiting them and theater obnoxiously loudly and all but dancing with each other in the seats and you think wow, just being able to be completely yourself around someone is so healing, so refreshing and you wish every weekend could be like this, full of smiles and kisses and joking around in thrift shops taking polaroids and walking along the beach spontaneously dancing on the streets to the macarena, or can't help falling in love and it's just so ridiculously disney-perfect it's hard to believe you'll ever have anything less than a happy ending. you don't know how it feels to love them until you're crying your eyes out on a monday night in florida or a tuesday morning in michigan (or right now, on a saturday morning, just before the dawn breaks) because damn, the way it feels to hold them the way it feels to just lose yourself in that feeling when they hold you tighter (even closer) and you rest your head in that sweet spot where their neck meets their collarbone, and you breathe them in, deeply, and you realize you're home. maybe you feel too much. maybe it's just you as a person maybe it's your age maybe it's all the drama you needlessly create maybe it's because you're slower to learn than Honestly, does anyone else notice in this song, in the end, he doesn't promise JACK SHIT? He actually never SAYS he'll stop or they'll stop, just parrots back the chorus 'Can't we be seventeen' while she asks him if he'll choose her, and then just says he chooses her. He never outright agrees what he's doing is wrong or that he'll stop, he just says what she says back to her, in a way that's just enough to make her think he's agreeing. 'You're the one I choose' isn't 'I choose you over continuing', even if Veronica intended that meaning. He just chose to interpret it differently to keep her close. He didn't change at all, even for a second, he just talked her down. And the fact that both most of the audience and Veronica believes him just goes to show how effective just implications can be. He IMPLIES that he's changing, but never intended to. He fooled most everyone, including the audience. He wants Veronica, no doubt, but he never intended to stop, honestly.

Veronica is warmth and light and she tries to use it to save JD from his darkness, but the dark consumes her instead until her light in dead girl reprise fight back and just... Yeah I love it

Everybody always says that “I Am Damaged” was the only one of this artist’s animatics that made them cry but- this one,, this one gets me too. You can really see how much Veronica cares for him and how willing he is to change at the time, only to go back on his word and rip her wound open. And the thought of them having a happy ending with those big, white, pure dresses.. ugh I’m shook.

I just started watching your Heathers animatics, and I'm beginning to realize why they're some of my favorites now. You may not have the grandiose or choreography some others have, but there's an intimacy and charm to your style that makes it stand really strong on its own. I especially the creativity, like the aura of light Veronica has, reaching out to JD, contrasting with the aura of smoke and fire JD has in his songs.
