Severe delays hit Hong Kong MTR 

As a Tokyo native I think I’ll feel right at home in HK

I was so late for school lol

Everyone is looking down at their phones

And people say Singapore's MRT suck?

I Can't believe 3 of the original MTR Lines could malfunction like that The Original lines Kwun Tong Line (Opened in 1979) Tsuen Wan Line (Opened in 1982) Island Line (Opened in 1985) is the equipment used in the line over 30 years old

Well, an interesting thing to notice. Peace and quiet remained despite the delay. I know this would have been different in the mainland, hahaha

HK MTR is very good and was established long time ago. I will be surprised if it never has the occasional breakdowns.

I was literally just on The Tung Chung MTR line, thank goodness it that line didn’t break down 😅

The Hong Kong gov't fines the MTR starting from millions of dollars HKD starting from a 31 minute delay. No worries though, cause this metro system literally profits at least 1 times over it's operational costs which is in billions of Hong Kong dollars in some years. The MTR of a 99.9% on time rate is definitely a luxury to many cities, but this is one of the fundamental building blocks to a highly developed city. Even London tube contacts the MTR to manage their subways because MTR is literally at the top of metro management efficiency. Reliance on metro systems is the same in Tokyo, Singapore, NY(old subway lol) stuff like that and others that I didn't mention. But nothing has yet beat the MTR in terms of management efficiency and profitability.

The Hong Kong government is the majority share holder in the MTR therefore any fines or penalties are useless

In Manila we are used to this. HK people are still lucky.

Tsuen Wan line Kwang tong line and island line,will skip stop where they interchange I think

meanwhile Bekasi line at commuter line Jabodetabek has been accustomed of 30 mins delays

The Island Line is the worst possible out of the 3 to be hit

At least the metro would make a ton of money

The announcer blames the long boarding time on there being lots of passengers, not on the line faults that caused the backlog in the first place. Talk about shirking responsibility.

I would totally stress out

How long actually? In my country, 2-3 hours delay happens on daily basis that we cant see developed nations' well maintained and disciplined system as anything but luxury.
