I hope I didn't go too crazy with the real time video, time lapses, and photos in this video but it was so amazing. I couldn't stop watching and filming this once in a lifetime event. Enjoy. I hope you got to see it too.
Natures Fireworks!!! Fantastic!!!! Congratulations on great footage and shots and for staying up until 4.00am to catch it all. We also saw it here in Belgium! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful film, your choice of music is perfect for this event. Your enthusiasm is wonderful and so inspiring.
My wife didn't understand why I came home at 4am after dancing alone on some farmers field in the early hours. I saw my first aurora age 61. Got some good photos too. Not as good as yours Tsula. Wonderful images.
What a beautiful display you had Tsula it was a magical night for sure. we saw it here in the UK to not only looking North but East West & at the Zenith, my partner was jumping for joy & I lost count how many times I said wow ha ha!! I did set up a couple of cameras for timelapses but as there was so much to see I kept moving them to other points in the sky, we had greens, reds purples & even blue showing at times. A night truly to never forget as I thought I'd never ever see anything like that in my lifetime.
Yes, exactly as you described. When I went to Alaska to see the aurora you had to look north but as you said it was in all directions going off constantly. Definitely joy inducing event. I'm glad it was a clear night in the UK for you too. Thank you.
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us Tsula. I look forward to every Tsula's Big Adventures video. Lots of health to you and your family always !
Stunning photography! I especially liked the real-time shots - I'm always suspicious that more elaborate captures give a false impression of brilliance and saturation. Unfortunately, I missed the actual event - I wasn't even aware it was taking place, having not seen any network news in several days - but you did your best to create a passable substitute, so thanks for that! Earth cannot answer, nor the skies that mourn In flowing purple for their lord forlorn... PS: What are those strange sounds I heard starting at around 5m15s?
Holy cow! That's astounding! A star party in central Mississippi dark sky was ruined - in the best way - by the auroras. Like you said as bright as light pollution! Happy for you!!!
I love your enthusiasm, what a great video! I was able to see it on the horizon up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California around 4 AM on May 12th but only because of a high ISO and 30 second exposure with my camera.
Thank you. 30 seconds is a long exposure. I went out last night but didn't see anything but honestly I was exhausted from lack of sleep and passed out at 1:00 am. I'm glad you got to see it too.
I had it for two consecutive nights in the UK. The first at about 11pm and the second about 2am the following night. Both times are UK times. Spectacular displays!!
Thanks for this excellent video. We had a similar experience here as we watched from our backyard pool deck with our chairs fully reclined to observe the sky above. Fortunately our location being 60 km’s west of Montreal meant that light pollution wasn’t a problem like it was for folks closer to the city. I’ve never seen anything like it as well … absolutely breathtaking! Eclipse, then aurora … can’t wait to see what the universe has in store for us next! 🔭📷🌞PS: Some of my favourite photos include the Big Dipper … an amazing sight!
Thank you. I'm so glad you got to see it to. Eclipse then aurora -- that darn T Coronae must surely go off next!!!! Did you notice the shot with Corona Borealis? I thought to myself now that would really be something if T Coronae went off during this spectacular aurora display.
@@tsulasbigadventures PS: Here are the images that I captured from the backyard using my shiny new iPhone 15 … some of the photos have a pleasing impressionistic feel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AWum5AgoPIU.htmlsi=vDHpIrfE7guzNlDh
It was great here in michigan, first time i’ve ever seen overhead and color aurora! Definitely the second coolest thing i’ve ever seen (after the eclipse). Weather wasn’t amazing but it cleared up just before the aurora explosion and I got to see it.
@@brodymk45 Are you referring to Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas? I tried to look at it the other night but I couldn't see it. It's not very bright right now. I hope it becomes naked eye. I saw both C/2022 E3 (ZTF) and Pons-Brooks with binoculars but neither was naked eye. The last naked eye comet I have seen was Hale-Bopp. So, it would be great if there were another one.
Was that a coyote howling at the aurora? I was up in the wee hours in South Carolina but didn't go outside. Later in the day, I saw some online posts that the aurora was visible here but it was far off in the distance.
Yes, right in the middle of the aurora going off a pack of coyotes started howling. I hear them from time to time when I am out on the driveway star gazing but this time I couldn't help but wonder if they were as amazed as I was at the incredible light show going on. Too bad you didn't get to see it in South Carolina.
I went out tonight with the best skies and put my Bird Jones Celestron Powerseeker 127 reflector against my Hexum refractor. Both are reported as 1000mm length. Yeah I'm a broke observer! Same eye pieces used. 17mm Celestron and 13mm with a 32mm as a finder. I think the Hexum won! Hexum has a garbage mount but I found the moon faster without the EQ the Powerseeker has and focused faster! How? One cost 100$ and the Powerseeker is 240$ The Refactor seemed tighter and was right side up. Max is 4mm on the powerseeker 3.97 so I guess the same on my refractor being both are 1000 yet the image was sharper with the Hexum the cheap plastic scope. I even used Vaga to collimate my reflector yet the refractor seemed sharper. I tried 8mm flossel on both and is why I am posting.
Between the 2 I was dumbfounded. I thought I did a real upgrade with the 127 now I think I did aperture fever! Or is one better even cheaper than a Newtonian? I'm all about visual, I'm going to really fine tune my 127 tonight.
@@krazyhorse448 Refractors make sharper images but are impractical beyond a certain size. That's why people settle on reflectors. So, what you said makes sense to me. But I am hoping you can get something a little better than either of those telescopes.
@@tsulasbigadventures Me being disabled on a fixed income really makes it hard, Everyone I know wants a look but they just don't have the passion to invest themselves. VCU the local collage has a club but $50 a month is too expensive at this time. After looking at youtube if I showed up with either of my scopes I would be kicked out. I before leaving this world really want to see something thru a really decent scope. My stroke in 2019 robbed me of a lot on my right eye, good thing is I'm left eye dominant. My dad had a bad stroke 2 days after his 80th birthday July last year and is Hospice so all $$ goes to taking care of him. I save my change and hope to get something that will make think it was worth it! 3 jars away of quarters from a Dob I hope
