Grady Lester I’m sure there are one or 2 ppl mad because they can just get a new one from there insurance most this cars will not be fixed the value is not there hail storms are hell for insurance companies
Not sure about CO, but here in TX, our auto and home owners insurance premiums are no doubt “adjusted” for the inevitable hail damage claims that are incurred each year
One over every dam corner. We went to a car show the next day and had to park across the street then a dent guy came up to us and said theyre prices like uhhhhmmm we are going to the oldies car show lol hail and dent repair guys every dam corner I swear.
The reason hail damage cost so much to repair is because of the labor. The resources are actually cheap..... Some stupid shop tried charging me $200 just to repair four hail damage dents on the quarter panel.
The dealerships near me had a huge damage sale for cars damaged in a hail storm. Cosmetic damage of course. There are people who really don’t care about the dings and dents. Gives it character.
I lived in Colorado Springs from 1971 to 1989 and although we’ve had some major hail storms...once destroying everyone’s cars, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it that bad.
I used to be an insurance agent in Colorado Springs. My company paid end-of-year profitability bonuses if the insured losses within our book of business were under a certain percentage of premiums paid. It seemed like every year I'd be sitting pretty through the winter, spring and most of the summer, then something like this would come along and put me into the red. I felt awful for my customers' losses, which sometimes included things that a generous insurance settlement couldn't ever replace, but I also felt bad about that family vacation we couldn't take because of the loss of my bonus. People like to complain about insurance companies and their high premiums, but imagine having to pay for all the damage in this video.
Thank God I told my husband to call while the storm was happening. So many around us didn't call till morning and wait time was a year+ to start construction on homes. We had to stay in a hotel 101 days for most of our hone time be rebuilt. It was and still is traumatic.
Get what you are saying, but many Americans, can no longer afford full coverage on their vehicles, try to understand our side, we get tired of paying for everyone else , especially the "ooopppsss " people! When you have no incidents, you are paying for everyone else! Same concept of school taxes, when your kids are out, you should never have to pay them again!
I was in Colorado Springs when that happened, and that was the largest hail I've ever seen. I live in the Northeast where we usually don't get hail and especially not that size.
bluesharp59 LOL I wonder if anybody come out and saw their cars wrecked and screamed out Aflac. ' hi B... smart wise ducky is staying in the barn and safe while heavy storm
Windshields have to be stronger than the other windows in a vehicle - so they remain intact even when badly broken. Back windows, on the other hand, will just fall to pieces after multiple hits.
I've been caught out on the road with a hail storm like that coming down. You would not believe how loud it is inside that car. Felt like it was the end of times.
In Australia where i am, we had something even more severe 4 years ago. it was complete chaos windows were smashed, building were destroyed and my beautiful 2014 Holden HSV Maloo R8 got damaged. if you guys think this was bad, you should have been with me
We had billions of dollars in damage here just in one part of town. 70% of our home had to be rebuilt. Every car in the city was totaled not just busted windows, the whole car. Hail came thru our roofs like missiles. Softball size hail for over 4 hours. I think we got you best for sure with your busted window.
Climate change IS real but you also have to understand that with more people means the chances of encountering severe weather increases. Climate change is definitely a factor in increased frequency and strength of severe weather but it's also not the only thing going on here. :)
A major hailstorm hit a town I used to live in and several insurance companies wrote off all the policies they had in force in the area and the rest hiked their premiums due to less competition.
Man, when this lady said that she’s done with Colorado Colorado is not the only one that gets those kind of storms as well so just Texas sodas Oklahoma, and so does Nebraska, Kansas in north and South Dakota thumbs up
There was a hailstorm like this in Denver in the late 1980s. Did $4,000 worth of damage to my Honda Prelude. Colorado doesn't have a lot of tornadoes in the urban areas but they make up for it with hailstorms...
My old friend gene purchased a 4 level home with 2 acres right on Colorado Springs for $350k. He said he misses California cuz when it rains it pours. Roofers and insurance company’s is the business out their because the cost is twice as much for hail damage. What a way of living. :( I’ll rather stay in Cali. Even doe is getting really really expensive out here.
It is supposed to be bad in Colorado this year again. I will do my best to post as much damge as possible. After the first hail storm in fountain we got new Windows siding roof and we got rid of our sky light in the main bathroom. Our cars were completely totaled but we are good friends with the owner of our insurance company so they fixed our cars back to practically brand new for only 50$. We are preparred more than ever for this hail season!
I remember when a hail storm rolled through North Carolina and destroyed a whole shipment of brand new cars. Everyone at Ft. Bragg that year had a new set of wheels with golf ball textured paint jobs.
theivory1 Well my windows are broke. Guess I'll just leave my car here by the road? ' hi T1... did already change new window yet... tempered window is a not strong enough from the hail rain
A lot of the windshields weren’t totally smashed away but just very cracked - so much that you can’t see through them. Maybe you could smash out the rest and keep driving, but by then your car interior is full of broken glass and very wet so it’s probably not going to be fun to drive if it’s even possible.
You can't drive a vehicle like that. I had just a 8 inch corner section of my windshield smashed out to deer hit. The cop told me to call for a tow. I said I would just drive it home he said I could not. I just lived a mile down the road so he gave me an "escort" home. Made me drive 20 mph behind him with flashers on. Said to get it fixed before it left my driveway.
I watched baseball sized hail come down in St.Louis back in 04. It beat out windshield then knocked dashes down to the floorboard. It hailed like that for 16 minutes strait.
Now imagine hail like that for 4 hours and softball size. People who came to rebuild said it looked like areas they worked before when hurricanes hit. It was like a war zone.
0:10 The Wrangler is a pretty good hail-resistant car. Vertical windows, vertical sides, plastic roof and wheel arches, few places that could be bent or dimpled. Only the hood is exposed, but that one is easily repaired or replaced.
Man, I think it was.. 96/97 maybe, but Dallas/Ft Worth, Ft Worth mostly, had a nasty hail storm. I'm talking baseball sized. Happened on a Friday night during a festival, hurt a bunch of ppl and everything. Me and my family went to the Ft Worth Zoo the next day, and every single car we saw had dents on them.
@@johnmontano3733 it sure was!! Came thru our house like missiles thru the roof. 70% of our home had to be rebuilt while we stayed in a hotel for 101 days. Neighbors two houses away from us, just got 1 broken window.
This is why I have a radar app. If I’m not near my home and I start seeing pink on the radar (meaning hail), I’m finding the nearing gas station awning or a overpass to go under.
No awning would of helped in this storm. 4 hrs of softball size hail in just one storm and 3 storms hit in a row. Billions in damage. We had almost 400k in damage here. Worst storm ever seen in Colorado and many other states.
I worked at a Ford dealership in West Bloomfield Michigan in the early 1980s, a hail storm hit, every car and truck in the lot was damaged , other dealerships got hit hard also, the ended up having a hail sale at the state fair grounds, buy as is, lol
zedrick zedwick just imagine hail stones that weighed 360 lbs. obliteration ' hi Z Z... what is that meaning 360 pounds... hailball is a not 360 pounds weight
True Salvation Ministries zedrick zedwick they will weigh 75 lbs bible says so ' hi TSM... send me a version in the KJV holy bible book about hailball is a 75 pounds weight
I wonder if a car is categorized as "totaled" by most insurance companies if not only windows get taken out but if the entire car is pounded to death by large hail.
There's many factors in that actually. You have to take it to a car repair shop and have it evaluated on damage and they'll give you an approximate sum of how much it would be. Then an insurance adjuster would come out and evaluate it and give you their estimate. What kind of insurance you have is also a determining factor. If the cost to fix the vehicle outweighs the cost of buying another one, then it'll be totaled out. Otherwise... got a hammer? :P
