If they don't have jumpers for their dogs, we use people jumpers or hoodies. Baby jumpers usually fit little dogs. Second hand shops have a great range to choose from. I love how you get great satisfaction from helping these dogs. They look like show dogs at the end, shave downs included. He must have felt like a million dollars after his groom.

I hate to see dogs like this come in that have been purposely neglected to the point you can't even tell what breed he is supposed to be. It's obvious he isn't used to being groomed and did better than some dogs would have. Thank you for being the kind soul to these animals that aren't used to being shown and love or affection. If only for a little while you showed them so much kindness while they were being groomed. I can only imagine it's hard to release them back into a home where they will continue to be neglected.

Happy New Years Marybeth!! Poor Clifford and poor you!! Obviously he isn't use to being groomed and you have had to contend with that. You can see where the mats have hurt him. One things for sure, you have improved his quality of life by doing that groom. Lets hope that this is a new start for him. The care and gentle reassurance you gave him was so wonderful. I'm sure that he will always remember the time with you and the relief he felt. Great work.

Omg that poor baby under all that matted fur was so think. They need to keep him inside the outside. Personally I have never had an outside dog. My attitude is if it’s too cold for me it’s too cold for them and that applies to hot weather also. When I had my Chow Chows I put in additional air conditioning units for them. A lot of people thought I was crazy but they were my babies too. When you adopt an animal from a shelter or buy one from a breeder then you are making a commitment to love them, care for them and keep them safe.

Where are you Iocated? I have a poodle in a similar situation as this. We found her on the side of the road and have tried buying good grooming shears and scissor cutting it but we don't really know what we're doing. I feel horrible for her

So...after your explanation about hematomas in the ears - which was Very helpful in explaining the "happy hoodies" and maybe even understanding why Dobermans ever started having their ears uh cropped or fixed, whatever that is called, could you explain something else? I don't want to be indelicate - (snort) indelicate, as if Clifford has any pride of self autonomy after your hands had been all up in his business while shaving his "sanitary locations", could you also explain what "expressing the anal glands" means? Something to do with why my cat used to smell - well "musky" every now and again. It's not urine or fecal, though in the "sanitary" locale, and body parts don't have vocabulary or voices to articulate their feelings, so what exactly does "expressing" their anal glands mean and entail that a groomer might be called upon to do or just explain, since you did briefly mention that they were full or impacted, whatever that entails... Thank you for sharing these videos of what grooming means for dogs or cats, and how it's more than running a brush through or over their fur.

Sigh, I wish people wouldn’t buy dogs with hair that requires daily brushing, haircuts and ear cleans unless they want to take care of it. If not, you are abusing your poor dog. It hurts to have Matt’s and ear infections. I want him and can groom him too. I have had standards all my life and love the breed. He is way to thin, poor guy.

The way it used to be, at least, was that people receiving free grooms agreed to have the groom on RU-vid, and you get a fair amount for views with a large audience. I also believe she still does paid clients; the free grooms are for people facing hardships. That's how I recall it working, but I'm not even sure this video is new.
