The annual 'Autumn Steam Gala' held at the Severn Valley Railway, this year over the weekend of 19th-22nd of September, always proves to be a fantastic event with this year being no exception.
The event would showcase demonstration freight sets working alongside an intensive passenger timetable, itself featuring a variety of workings from Auto-trains to regular full-line services. Severn Valley Galas are also famous for their 'Night Trains', with steam locomotives operating a service through the night and into the following day.
The cameras spent the entirety of Thursday based at Eardington Bank, exploring the range of shots available at the location, with Friday bearing a more varied choice of locations.
Locomotives:
BR Standard Class 4MT - 76017
BR(S) 'West Country' Class - 34092 "City of Wells"
GWR 2800 Class - 2857
BR Standard Class 4MT - 75069
Ex-SR Q Class - 30541
Ex-SR Rebuilt 'West Country' Class - 34027 "Taw Valley"
GWR 6959 'Modified Hall' Class - 6960 "Raveningham Hall"
GWR 1400 Class - 1450
Also in service was Ex-GWR 5101 'Large Prairie' Class Tank - 4144, though the loco managed to elude the cameras. In addition, 'Pannier Tank' pair 5700 Class - 7714 and 1500 Class - 1501 would work the 'Night Trains' on both Friday and Saturday nights.
All footage filmed on Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th of September 2019.

As for 76017 I’ve captured it twice once when it passed 30541 and the other when it passed its fellow standard 4 75069 at Kidderminster and it’s the first time ever for both standard 4 locomotives have met each other since steam days of the 1950s

Good to see the auto train and freight running mixing it with big boys with their rakes of coaches, nice change. Thought I was on the Bluebell for a minute when the Q appeared!!!! Nice shooting sir, thank you 👍👌

Wonderful video of the autumn steam gala, at least I can se the Q class running on passenger duties in this video, because on Saturday the Q class had a leaky boiler tube and it was out of businesses, and around lunch time at Bridgenorth, city of Wells developed a problem, THEN at Hampton loade the points broke which meant trains were then running about an hour late

Superb video. All engines a credit to their owners and operators. To the crews featured either really good coal or extremely well fired. No clouds of black smoke, firing and enginemanship at its best.

Should think it's good firing as there coal can be smokey if not used properly. Light grey is what you should aim for when firing

For the q class it’s vertically identical to the LMS Fowler 4fs possibly the same driving wheels set

Also I’ve captured city of wells twice one which I saw it arriving at Kidderminster and the other when it met Taw valley both of them used to be mainline certified West Country Pacific locomotives from 1988 to 1991 and as of today they are no longer mainline certified

Lots of steam railway lines have 1940's themed weekends and that includes the Severn Valley! One I have yet to attend

Quite a Southern theme (76017 is as well of course); 8 coaches for a Class 4 is doing well It was turned round between its first and second appearances then. Lovely pan view of City of Wells showing the Giesl exhaust to good effect.

Am I right in thinking this video/ program, is based in the USA? as we in the UK, have a steam Railway Called the SEVERN VALLY RAILWAY, Name derives from the rail line follows the valley along the side of the river Severn.

Why in every video I have seen of 34092 is it producing volumes of smoke? A Geisel ejector was supposed to aid combustion and thermal efficiency. As an ex BR fireman of the 1960's, I've never been able to understand this acceptance of bad practice amongst modern day crews just to give their mates a good photo opportunity. In this day and age where steam railways are becoming a target for eco campaigners we must all change our ways and become more responsible.
