The 1950s is my favourite period for dresses. Have you ever wanted to make one of those stunning dresses for yourself? Well here's your chance! In this tutorial I'll show you every step for making this vintage dress with modern sewing techniques. This is a must-see tutorial if you want to sew your own pin-up and vintage style dress.

I know this vid is over 3 years old now and I'm sure you've kept on learning all sorts of things about sewing during this time (that process never ends!). :-) So please forgive me if this is an old tip to you by now or if it is something you in fact did and I didn't realise you had. When you're sewing a row of machine stitches for gathering it helps to lower your top tension and pull the bobbin thread to gather (so plan ahead and have the bobbin thread on the side of the fabric where it will be easy for to pull). This makes it easier to pull the gathering thread up. It also makes it easier to pull the gathering thread out when you want to remove it. Great job doing a true start-to-finish video too, this will be so, so helpful to a lot of people!

Just got this pattern from fabricland for $2! I couldn’t believe it! Got a lovely hot pink linen type fabric to use. Usually my mum helps walk me through, but due to quarantine we can’t do that. This video will help me through!!

I have looked at this pattern quite a few times and I have decided that the bodice is a little too complicated for a pretty new sewer I love how you teach and you make this garment beautifully you are definitely a very good sewer . The fabric is to die for thank you so much for teaching us and hopefully one day I may dear to tackle this pattern when I'm more confident and more skilled you look stunning in this beautiful dress

There are neater ways to finish the invisible zip and back seam. Take a look at Kittenish Behaviour’s method, shown on her chevron circle skirt tutorial. I really love your sewing tutorials, so please keep them coming.

Loved this, would love if you could do more vintage patterns just like you did this. I'm terrible at deciphering pattern instructions. ADHD does not mix with technical speak.

Thank you! I think I'm due for another vintage dress ;) You'll get better at the instructions. With time you'll know what to do by instinct.
