Let’s make the Koda Cross-Body Bag!
Join me for this step-by-step tutorial to make this beautiful bag. The pattern is a free pattern from Huff ‘n Cuffs. It was available for many years on the Huff ‘n Cuffs website (www.huffncuffs.com), but I noticed in about March 2024 that the website no longer exists. I’m not sure what happened. I normally would not post work from another creator, but because the pattern was offered for free for many years, I have posted it to my website in the section for Project Sheets for you to download. Please see: www.bitsandpie....
Full credit for the pattern remains with the creator.
You will also notice that I have had a few “learning opportunities” throughout the video! I debated about starting over after each little fumble but decided to push through. The creation process is not always smooth, and I rarely have the time or resources to repeat a project or video, so you are getting the full authentic experience - mistakes and all!! I hope you will see that there are creative solutions to major problems and some of the little flaws don’t matter all that much in the end.

Thanks Priscilla! It has been a fun journey and I really love this design from Huff n' Cuffs. I've made a bunch of them now in some of my favourite fabrics! Thanks for watching.

I have a selection of metal (stainless steel) chopsticks for turning along with bamboo skewers. These bags are lovely

Hi Debee - I think you have found the perfect tool! Perfectly useful and practically indestructible. I'll have to keep my eyes open for some next time I'm in the housewares section. Hope you are well!

I was pleased to see that fabric you used. It's Australian, as you pointed out and it's lovely. That artist has made some lovely fabrics and I have a good selection, but I was amazed by the echenacea fabric - I will have to get some of that. Lovely bag and thank you for the clear instruction.

We loved our time in Australia and I have a lovely collection of indigenous prints that I brought home with me. And I love the Jocelyn Proust designs - I have a few more of those too! The echinacea is Anna Maria Horner and it is available in an number of different colourways - it is a spectacular print!. Thanks for watching.

@@bitspiecesquilting I looked at buying some but the shipping is prohibitive, sadly.

I like to use two D rings -- 1 front and 1 back. Then attach the strap when the bag is completed. Seems to be easier with the threading through the adjuster. This bag is really cute. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Cynthia - this is a great choice, particularly if you know how long you prefer the strap of your bag. Thanks for watching!

Very nice! I agree w you…the inside pocket is easier to access placed in the opposite side but it is a matter of preference….loved the fabrics and what happened to the moved back home? Hope all is going well with that….looking forward to next video…

Hi Marq! We have arrived back in Canada safe and sound, and our shipment is on the way. I was able to get a few videos prepared in advance, and just filmed a few while visiting with mom, so the content will continue for a bit. Hopefully the shipment doesn't take too long. I think my fabric and sewing machine are somewhere around Singapore at this point!

Just a thought, but could you mend the end of the webbing for the strap by heating and melting with a lighter to keep it from fraying?

Hi Suz - great idea! I'll have to give it a try on a small piece of scrap. Maybe over the kitchen sink, just in case!

Are you familiar with ByAnnie bags and bag supplies? I ask largely because I think that organization has some really substantial supplies available, and might be a good online source for you.

Thanks so much for the tip Nikki - they are new to me, but will definitely check them out. I've learned (the hard way) that decent hardware really makes a difference! Thanks for watching.

Thank you. What is the name of the lining?
@bitspiecesquilting
@bitspiecesquilting 2 месяца назад
Hi Linda - the lining is a fabric I picked up at my local fabric store. I don't have the name as all my fabric is currently in a shipping container at sea! Same situation for the interfacing - I don't recall the name, but it is fusible on one side, feels like cotton canvas on the other and is surprisingly thin for the amount of stiffness it provides. Thanks for watching.
