In this video, we teach you how to use the Tri-Recs™ tool. Three-triangle units were nicknamed "Peaky and Spike" by quilter Doreen Speckmann who used them extensively in her quilts. The larger, central triangle is "Spike," and the smaller, side triangle is "Peaky." Follow our instructions for using the Tri-Recs™ tools to make cutting and piecing these units a snap.

It’s so funny watching these videos from 12 years ago. I’ve never seen ANYONE use a glove when cutting. 😂

Just bought a new set of these triangle rulers - the rectangle shape is tricky to piece but now it should go together great. Have lots to go back and re-cut!

I have had my Tri-Rec tools for over 10 years and until I retired I never really had time to get to know them. Then three moves later and they get lost in the shuffle. Now I know where they are and I am semi-retired, so thanks for a wonderful tutorial to get me started.

It would be helpful to have measurements of the finished block noted. i.e. for this block which will be 4-1/2” finished use a strip that is X wide

So I have a whole quilt top that came out kinda “off” because I didn’t know the notch trick. Now that I’ve figured out what I’ve done wrong, I’m pretty sure I’ll never forget. 🤷🏻‍♀️
