I was searching for how to use this ruler & was so glad to find you. What great ideas! You explained it very well. You are appreciated for all your hard work putting together this video!
I am totally loving this tutorial!!! I saw a couple but all they did was the basic block. I love that you have shown other options. I hate investing in a tool that only has one purpose. I tend to look for them to be multi-functional because after all we HAVE TO HAVE IT! I look forward to future video's.
Thank you Ruth. I appreciate you watching and commenting. I love trying to use my tools for other purposes than the initial reason that I purchased it for; more bang for my buck.
You make this look so easy thank you so much. I have made dozens and they haven’t turned out. I was waiting for you to show the second corner lineup in the video but your hand was off camera but I think I got it thanks again.
I bought the tools like you recommended. Will be using them today I hope. Thank you very much for showing how to use the tools. Thanks so much. Happy quilting, Yoka
Thank you, for the tutorial. I found a quilt pattern which calls for the use of a Tri Rec Triangles and you showed me how to use these templates in November 2020.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much Kathy for watching and commenting. I see by your other comment that you watched to the end. Lots of tips for those who stuck with it to the end!
Thank you for this great video tutorial! This is a challenging block for me, and now I have the confidence to try them again. The other ideas you presented for using the recs unit was fabulous! Thanks again for a great find; I found you today on RU-vid:)
Thanks Darlene for finding my channel! I appreciate you watching the video and commenting. I'm thrilled when someone finds something useful on my channel. Have fun retrying the technique.
I have some tips to share. I so love this tool! Tip#1: If you fold your triangle fabric, the first cut that you make, you can make with the side triangle. Just line up the dotted seam allowance line with the fold (not the edge, your triangle will be too wide by 1/4"). All other cuts, are just lined up. Tip#2: Use either the side triangle, or the large triangle as your helper ruler so that you don't have to make any awkward cuts. Tip#3: If you have manifold units to make, you can try this tip: Cut the side triangles from a rectangle! Two of the side triangles together combine to make a rectangle--but the width is on eighths, while the height is always on the 1/2" increment.. Accordingly, you can GREATLY increase your cutting production if you do the following. You can cut a rectangle that measures the height that you need (I have included a table below) (I use my Stripology ruler for subcuts--so quick and accurate). Reverse how you would normally cut. Cut the eighth measure * _first_* from your WOF, and then use your Stripology or other ruler that has 1/2's (the original strip width) easier to see, to make your subcuts. Then, align the side triangle tool along the left edge (make sure rectangle is pointed tall side up). Make ONE CUT, make one nick; then rotate the tool to make the nick on the bottom left. Naturally if you have directional fabric, you should evaluate the suitability of this method by testing first. If your fabric are folded together as you note for mirrored images, for every angled cut, you get 2 pairs of mirrored side triangles. If your blade is very sharp as you would for one block wonders, you can stack more and get more..but only if a blade is sharp. Here are the width measurements if you wanted to adopt this method for making many of these accurately and easily. As you can see for each 1" increment the width increases 1/2" (this is a proportional triangle with H = 2 x W) Strip WOF Width cut 1.5 1 5/8 2 1 7/8 2.5 2 1/8 3 2 3/8 3.5 2 5/8 4 2 7/8 4.5 3 1/8 5 3 3/8 5.5 3 5/8 6 3 7/8 6.5 4 1/8
I love your videos. Have you thought about getting a Matilda's round cutting mat (15") so when you are cutting out the templates it is easier to turn the material?
I have two Olfa rotating mats and the Brooklyn Revolver. I just have a very limited space when I cut on my longarm frame. I do try to use them when I can.
Tea do you have a video to show how to use Tri Rec tool to make Half rectangle block? I see you refer to it would love to see a video!!! thanks in advance!
I can't remember, but I thought I showed the half rectangle block in the video. I don't think I pieced it though. I can add to my list of videos if that will help. It will be a few weeks as I've got some project coming up this and next month. I'll try to work it in. Thanks for the suggestion.
I found this ez-tri-mate ruler in my stuff and I can’t remember if there was anything else to it but I was wondering if there is another piece that goes to it or can I use it without the other piece .
teaquilts sorry for confusion couldn’t see all of my text until I finished What I was trying to say is the one I have is different than the one you were demonstrating mine looks more like a roof piece????
