Learn the basics of Free Motion including machine setup, stitch length adjustment, tension control, and other important topics to start your free motion journey. Janome offers Free Motion Quilting Feet available in two styles; Open Toe and Closed Toe. Open Toe Foot for general use and extra visibility, and the Closed Toe Foot for general use with lace and catchable fabrics. The feet are available for high shank and low shank machines. I don't have a Janome but wow! Is this informative and explains a lot!! I have multiple feet that I found my instruction book hard to follow. Everyone, & I mean everyone, Janome owner or not, if you're new to quilting, you should watch this if you aren't taking your quilt to a long armer. Thank you very very much for this tutorial!!

This is the 5300 QDC-T ! It also comes in a grape version - same machine, different accent color. www.janome.com/machines/sewing/5300-qdc-G/

Your demo plate does not look like the straight stitch plate

Hi Eleanor, that is true. This machine does not come with one and I need to purchase one for best results. However, I was suggesting that if your machines does have one, definitely use it and it you are having stitch issues, this would be a great potential fix if the fabric is getting draw down into the plate.
