Thank you all for watching! Check description box for links to the label company I purchase from, preview video of this pattern, tutorial to shorten a zipper, and for the top pattern I'm wearing with the shorts! Blessings
Another useful video, thanks Brittany! I find it empowering that you own your errors and show how you fixed them, I tend to get discouraged and think I'm a lousy sewer.
I came here when I got stumped doing the fly zipper on a different Vogue pattern for pants I'm making. This video helped me see what I was supposed to do.
This video has been an absolute lifesaver! I've bought and been making this pattern for a textile's class, but was so confused by the written instructions, and this video has been so helpful and instructive!! My shorts came out amazingly :)
You are a life saver!!! The instructions for the zipper were driving me crazy, but you explained it in a far better way. Thank you so very much for making this video!!!!!
Thanks Brittany for making the zipper in these shorts make sense! I was confused by the instructions and watched your detailed instructions and you made it all work!great video.. I will check out all your other videos too!🌸
Thank you for verifying that printed error at Step 22! I have sewn quite a few dresses, costumes, etc, and was very frustrated with the carrier and waistband!! Glad it wasn't just me being obtuse!!
Great video Brittany! As a beginning sewer I appreciate being able to see how something is constructed before I give it a try. I think your video has been very helpful. Also you have lovely hands :)
I really enjoy watching your videos and think you may just be the person who gets me in front of my sewing machine again. I used to enjoy making an outfit or two years ago and think it's time to get back at it. So thank you so much for giving me the nudge I needed.
Brittany thanks for another great video! I continue to love it when you do make mistakes, you talk about it & show how you fix it!!!!! There is no editing out mistakes. Your shorts look so good. You are a wonderful teacher!!! Love from here in SD. God Bless.
I love these sew along videos and the previews. It's so helpful to see all the steps and how you work through issues that come up! Thank you so much for doing them!
I just subscribed not to long ago. Britney you are such a gifted lady! What a joy to watch you work thru the pattern and I am grateful that you even put the mistakes in. It teaches us so much!! Thanks Girl!!!
Another great video.... I have just bought this pattern and can’t wait to start them in readiness for the summer. I like the fabric you used, so pretty.
Love your videos! You explain everything in such detail. I have watched this video twice as I am tackling my first pair of fly front shorts. I had to make adjustments on my pattern for fluffy tummy and booty. I have made pants in the past, but not successfully. I am trying again. Keep the videos coming please!
Hi Brittany, just found you and this video. Like others here, I’ve been sewing for a long time . Fly zippers have always been challenging but you did a Great job explaining and demonstrating! Looking forward to watches no your other videos!
Sizing question, as this is my first attempt at a "real" bottom pattern (non knit/elastic). I know you selected size based on your hip, does your finished waist measurement fall into the same size? Trying to figure waist size, and if grading is needed.
Hi. I am new to sewing and I have just followed this video and I must say, YOU ARE BRILLIANT. I was amazed at how easy you made this project for me. However, I encountered a problem with the waistband. If I took off at least 5 times and still it looks terrible. It is too wide at the top and too much gather at the bottom. HELP!!! Where have I gone wrong.
I'm making these shorts right now and found that none of the notches on the facing lined up with notches on the shorts. Finally after much comparisons of pieces, I just lined up the seams and stitched.
Hi Brit. Thanks for the video tutorial. I use frixtion pens for transferring my markings but once I iron them they are gone. How are u keeping your markings after u iron on those areas?
Brittany, I have a question. I have a serger, but haven't really used it much yet and am a little confused. When you finish off the edges of the fabric before you've actually sewn the seam, doesn't it cut off fabric? Then, when you sew your seams at 5/8", won't you have taken off more than the 5/8" altogether??
I know you will have figured this out now but in case anyone else hasn’t; on most (all??) sergers you can turn the knife action off so it doesn’t move, then you can use the knife as an edge guide. If you are having trouble getting the edge stitching to line up with the fabric edge the serger settings can be adjusted to fix this. There are RU-vid vids on this. Of course if you don’t have a serger a zig zag stitch will work just as well.
I was doing great up until the waistband. I got lost😭. When you attach the waistband to the shorts right sides facing, do you use the notched edge or unnotched edge???
Hey, no I didn’t. Hmmmm, how far off are the notches? Can you ease them in? The waistband does have a curved edge so you may have to do a little easing.
@@brittanyjjonestv thank you so much for replying. I greatly appreciate it. I figured it out👏🏾, I was trimming the right and left piece on the waistband instead of just the right. That is why Mimi tells us, her students, to make a muslin first..lol. Have great night and stay safe😁
Thank you for this video! The Vogue pattern for the pants I'm making, do a terrible job of showing you how to do the fly zipper. You have no idea what a help you were!
Brittany J Jones it looks like a very nice machine. I am thinking about buying a new one. Trying to decide on what I want. Lol. Thank you. Have a good day!
