Thanks Debs for a great video. Love the look of the blouses you mention - it really was so lovely to see them made up. Thank you for that. I am also in full agreement with you on 'free pattern doesn't necessarily mean frugal making'.
I've already finished some pieces and really want to add the Onil blouse to the list! Let's see if I manage to change the sleeves into cap sleeves, they look great in your version and I don't have that much of the fabric I've got in mind for this. @@debsmadethis
Some nice patterns I hadn't seen before, especially the vest! I just finished making the I Am Patterns Blandine top out of an old chair cover with lace at the bottom. Really happy with how it turned out!
Very useful blog thank you. Some really good makes. Love the Pauline Alice one I had not seen before will down load that one. I have made the lined jerkin from sew different which is an excellent pattern abd good when fabric is short, just extended it a bit for my preferences
I live both blouses, especially the second one. I have the Maison Fauve vest ready to cut out, so hopefully will have it finished for the challenge. I'm definitely downloading the second vest, it's so unique. Thanks for finding some new to me patterns. Good luck with the challenge!
Thank you so much for a couple of patterns I’d never heard of and for showing your makes. The Hanbok vest looks interesting and I have a metre of merchant and mills navy jacquard stashed….. Also the V neck top has a lovely shaped neckline. I’m off to download some patterns. Many thanks
Thanks for the reminder at the end about paying attention to what you’re making because “ free pattern doesn’t necessarily mean frugal making” … I really like the two tops you have made time to make…so VERY helpful to hear about the real experience with a pattern. I also have wide square shoulders so appreciated the note about that pleat not sitting as you wanted. And I recall from one of your recent posts that you might not be continuing with your channel. I will miss you, but I recognize that creating and sharing is a HUGE investment of your time and energy…so thank you. Chris in Florida
Thanks for the inspiration. Had not previously seen the top patterns your highlighted, and am very tempted by the Onil blouse for a piece of lightweight linen that I have been trying to find the right pattern for.
Great video Debs, I actually like the Onil blouse & Tesutti skirt together! Not seen the Ka Fonce before & love the v neckline of it . Thanks for joining the challenge again- hope you get time to make the vest 🤗
Yes I know what you mean, I have a peppermint pocket skirt which has an elasticated waist and that I wear quite high....with that style with my tops, I like to wear just one side tucked in or just the front tucked in and I have a top that I have sewn with a shorter front in the shape of a semi circle so the front comes back down at the sides, that way you can see the nice detail of the waist 😊
Fabulous makes Debs. I particularly like that white blouse. I'm desperately trying to finish the Maison Fauve Tilda blouse but I'm running out of time.
I really like your Onil blouse, the square neckline is lovely. I was thinking of making an Orchard top from Helen’s Closet but not sure I’ll get it down by the end of the month
I made the Rivoli vest by Madeinestel, which is a free pattern too, out of a thrifted quilted light blanket. There is still a lot left and I think I will try that cute little Hanbok vest. :)
All three garments look great on you and it seems they we would be very versatile. Your plans look great as well, that pink wool is so beautiful, I would try to get a vest out of it even if it means piecing the back?
You’ve been busy! Excellent choices - it’s so nice to see some of the patterns made up. I’m very interested in making the Onil blouse. I also like the look of the LaFonce. I’m just in the process of sewing up the Hanbok vest out of an old velvet curtain. Only a week left so I better get on with it. Thanks for your ideas.
Brilliant vlog. Patterns I love and most not seen before on Sew Frugal which is amazing for the end of Sew Frugal month. Great point too about making things we actually wear……..Thank You and Hapoy Sewing. 😊 Lynne
Definitely compare the Pompon vest to your other vest pattern. I made a muslin of the size recommended for my measurements and it had a lot of wearing ease. I was happy to see you model the La Fonce blouse. I have downloaded the pattern but wasn't sure how it would look on a mature figure. Looks great on you!
I look forward to seeing your elemental. I made one successful and one not. The hips are very exaggerated on me. I love SH7 patterns but I need to work on this. Both versions ( last one in the bin) have wrecked my overlocker. I know not why. I’m still tempted to make another. Let us know how you get on
Deb, I have a question about the Peppermint Magazine wide leg pants. Do you know why the zipper is installed left handed? I didn't realize this until after I completed the pants. Suzanne
Interesting Suzanne. Mine aren't, from memory but I might have changed something. I don't have a lot of internet access atm but will check out the pattern instructions when I can and let you know! Thanks for watching!
Please do wear the Tessuti skirt with the square necked top. Add a wide belt to emphasise your waist with about 2" heeled shoes and some jewellery and you will look gorgeous. Blow hubby out of his socks!!!
@debsmadethis Good girl! No good in making lovely things then not enjoying them. I thought they looked beautiful together, as you said, a pretty dress that can be really versatile as well. Your work is inspiring. Hugs Sallxxx
