Membership trailer here- • Membership trailer 2022
• PLEASE NOTE: these are not patterns for clothes and garments included in the Membership
• Instruction sheets are a step-by-step written instruction on how I drafted this or that project, so that you can follow along. Instruction Sheets are available as a back catalogue, but there are no new Instruction sheets for projects starting with July 2022.
• The templates are ONLY for the small projects, like a basket, or coaster, or towel wrap and etc.
• I have also created sewing reference sheets and practice sheets, as well as sketches that you can use and some small-scale garment parts that you can use to practice "slash and spread" techniques and dart manipulations. Instruction sheets are focused on the drafting process and less on the sewing sequence as that is shown in the video. Sewing steps can be sometimes written out, and sometimes referenced back to the original video.
• Members Extra videos go into fabric selection, extra tips and tricks, best practices and some additional ideas from me
• I try to prioritize Members comments, especially if there is a question

As a new member, I can say that it is well worth the small price for membership! There are so many "extra helpers" to aid you on your sewing journey. I keep finding new things and thinking a little "yay!" My mom left me piles of fabrics. I can't wait to try out some of your ideas to use and enjoy them. I'm making some cat coasters, from one of your earlier projects, for my SIL's birthday later on today. I'm going to use some of her pieces for them. I'm so excited and inspired. Thank you.

Buying fabric is extremely expensive. When spring comes and all the flea markets open here in Scandinavia, I will buy absolutely everything I can find of used clothes and fabric bags to cut fabric from them. You can buy a jacket full of fabric for 1-2 dollars. If you buy the same fabric in a shop, it costs at least 20-30. Then I get a bunch of fabrics like you have in the video, but hopefully bigger pieces. Does anyone have tips for other ways to get cheap fabrics and preferably larger pieces?
@ThoughtfulCreativity

Also use up old clothes you have in your wardrobe and won't wear anymore. Sometimes vintage bed linens have beautiful prints + lots of fabric!

Here in NZ, we got A LOT of charity shops! Often, you can pick up a shopping bag full of t-shirts and jerseys for a couple of dollars or three. That's where I get my jersey fabrics from. I especially like men's 6XL 😉. They also sometimes have a craft corner with fabric remnants or larger scraps. Sometimes, I even buy new t-shirts for fabric (at least XXL) and reuse not just the fabric, but also the bottom seams and neckbands.

I did something like this when making play athletic shorts for my grandsons. The fabric was $17 a yard (to expensive!), so I used some my workout pants (that I don't wear anymore) as fabric. I ended up having to piece the waistband together, but considering they were basically FREE, no complaints here!

So lovely. My mom made clothes for me when I was a child and I don't remember at all if there was a little mistake, or a big one. They were made for me, that's all I cared about. That was a lot of work for that last jacket, but I so appreciate the results ;P Also, the lemon t-shirt cannot be cuter. Thank you so much for sharing 😍😍😍

@albarodriguezcollantes5615
@albarodriguezcollantes5615 Год назад
@@AlextheENTP something that saddens me quite a bit is the fact that all those pieces my mom made for me are now lost. I grew up and my mom gave them to cousins or family friends to get more use out of them. None of them came back, even some were not properly cared for. I'd love to have them. At least I have a half finished skirt made of an old sheet that we sew together, well that she used to show me how to sew 🤩 I should not be so materialistic, but I am 😅
@AlextheENTP
@AlextheENTP Год назад
@@albarodriguezcollantes5615 Yeah, I understand your feelings on that - it is nice to have a sentimental item to touch and see. It could be that your mom also saw the importance of getting a lot of use out of a product that some effort was put into. For example, I made my niece some clothing, and was thrilled to see it still in circulation years later, being worn by my smaller niece. From the maker's perspective, it's great that our creations are still being worn and loved. But from the recipient's perspective, the sadness of loss is still felt. Maybe take some comfort in your mom's sewing being such good quality that many children were able to wear what her hands had made. And you were still the number one giftee in those clothes' lifetimes! 💝

One Christmas morning, I found homemade Barbie clothes, courtesy of my mom and neighbor lady. I was so excited and I think that was the best present an 8 year old could get. I'm 62 now. I wish I could say I still have them, but I gave them to my sister when my niece was old enough for them. I also had a great aunt who would send me things she had designed and I had to put together. I loved getting gifts from her, and to this day, I can put something together from just a few things. I passed this to my great niece. She is 17 now. I have also gifted her with a sewing machine. Keep crafting everyone!

I have been making underwear for 3 granddaughters. They love them. I made 35 pairs and they want more. I had to piece together some of the pairs with the different knits but they love them. I’ve been working on sewing for “Bundles of Love” which is a nonprofit organization. They put together a bundle of newly sown items for new moms in need. It has been so much fun and I will be taking the items back on Saturday and getting three more boxes of items to sew.

I use small scraps for Barbie/doll clothes; larger scraps for cushion slipcovers, napkins, quilts; and larger pieces for children's clothing; so I'm really pleased to see a tutorial on turning scraps into clothing for adults.

I often random sew pieces of fabric together big enough for pattern piece(s). 🌻

sewing piping, lace etc into the seam as you join the pieces also works well,

Woooohoooo! That's the best - that was my goal, to give ideas :) there is some creative clothing hiding in our fabric scraps :) and.... I have enough scraps for another 3 videos, lol, so there will be more thank you for watching!

Dear Alisa, you really made perfect use out of your Scraps. For each of the piles you tackled I really did not expect such a beautiful outcome and you only used 2 or 3 fabrics of the piles "only". So there are many left ;) Really love those Kinds of Videos and your thoughtful and ressource saving way of sewing. Regards from Germany Stephanie

Annie, hello there! How's your new sewing machine going? We have snow here today, but I know it is colder where you are at! There are so many scraps, probably good for another 3 videos :)

@@ThoughtfulCreativity Hi, My machine is going great. I love the needle threader, I wish my serger had one. I have a stack of fabric that I'm going to get busy on. Shirts, tops, pants and maybe a skirt. It snowed a light dusting of snow today, but it has been clear cold and windy. It's good weather to be inside and do some sewing.
