Swim suits have always been the projects I’m simultaneously interested in and terrified of! I appreciate you sharing your struggles as well as calmly tackling the aspects that hold me back from diving in! (Tee heehee!)
Love it! For seasonal versatility it would be fun to make the coverup in corduroy for autumn and pair it with some wide leg/bell bottom jeans and a simple white tee tucked in with a statement necklace. Would totally give it a groovy 70’s feel and make it super versatile.
The swimsuit was very flattering on you and still giving good coverage. The cover was fantastic and love the stripes it gave it a great pride look but still in keeping with the style of the era
I'm in New Hampshire but I'm from the Pacific Northwest and specifically grew up in Kitsap county. I was laughing and wondering how you weren't falling down on the rocks! Lol I love your suit! And the cover-up is really interesting! Nice job!
To help prevent knits from rolling up at the edges, I starch the poop out of it before cutting it out to make it lay flatter and make it easier to work with. Such cute outfits! I’ve tried twin needles and finally gave up and made a coverstitch machine a Christmas gift idea for hubby. Interestingly, my 1962 Singer Rocketeer has the ability to take two needles in its needle slot. 😮 It was way ahead of its time for functionality.
At the very end you were describing the different kinds of videos that you make. This may be the fifth or sixth time in the middle of your video that you’ve mentioned you’ve gone to the farmer’s market. How about taking us along one time to the farmer’s market and letting us see what it looks like, what you choose, and where you get your flowers? Thanks!
you did super good. your pattern choice is really fun and it looks great. you mentioned perhaps not zig zaging vertically next time and even tho you don't need vertical stretch when wearing it's still a good idea. cause when putting on the bottoms you tend to grab and pull and with everything except the thread stretching it means the thread is the only thing that is taking that pulling motion and you could snap it. unless you also sew in a non stretch bit of ribbon and secure it well. cause then the ribbon is also not stretching and it is much stronger than a single thread. if that makes any sense.
Love both. They look great. Particularly love the cover up. I think the stripe matching on the sides still looks nice and you absolutely aced the pattern matching on the back 😊
you inspired me so much that I took a top sheet and got a pattern of those old fashion mexican embroidery dresses, and I also had to put it on the floor,...it nearly killed me...I'm 63, with back issues and broken neck issues....all I kept saying...now I KNOW why Haley hates to cut stuff out....I got it cut out and I have to recover from the floor episode before I sew it...am just a bit scared to start frankly.
Very cute set! I wanted to tell you that Morality has a new collab with Gunne Sax, though I don't know how they rate on a sustainability by they clothes are pretty cute.
You did awesome! As for your pattern matching, since you don’t spend a ton of time looking at someone’s sides, it’s not as bad you had those ones not perfect, honestly I couldn’t/didn’t notice in your video. The back looks awesome! The swimsuit fits you very nicely (besides your mentioned underboob), great job! I do appreciate the double needle finish :)
Couldn't you still have done french seams without adding extra allowance. If the pattern has 5/8 in seam allowance you could do the first seam at 3/8 then the second at 1/4 right?
Super cute! I've always been too scared to make swimwear but you've given me the courage to try! What did you use for your lining fabric? It looks really comfortable
Both look so good! I am weary about sewing with stretch fabrics but you did a great job. I’ll have to look into a twin needle because it looks much cleaner than a zigzag. Did you buy a ballpoint tip twin needle for this?
Hi, question, if you didn’t use comercial patterns, how would you calculate making the pattern from scratch? Would you take in the time and materials too? 😊 thanks
