So cute!! I was actually planning to make a dress very similar to this for shirtwaist September! It’s blue with a white pin tucked bib. Your use of trim really made yours extra special looking. Nice job! It looks like it fits perfectly too.

You’re totally right on our not pushing ourselves when we don’t feel OK. I had no idea you worked full time AND did a YT channel - that’s incredible (particularly as I know the challenges of living with chronic conditions, disabilities, including Chronic Pain Syndrome). This is such a super cute make and I absolutely love your fabrics in every project - should have said that before! Sorry I can’t help our financially right now, but I hope the comment, like and subscribing do help drive people to see this! I think there are a lot of us symptomatic at the moment. Our weather has gone from fairly nice to wet, humid and generally yuck as autumn heads in. Every time there’s a season or temperature change, my body objects! Courage and solidarity, my friend x

Hi Haley. I love watching your videos and am always fascinated with your cost breakdowns. Your dress is absolutely lovely. For funsies, I tried taking a screenshot from the reveal portion and did an image search using GoogleLens. I found several similar dresses (and sewing patterns which was unexpected) as different price points. I do not know if this is a tool you use now when trying to find comparables, but if not, it might be another technique to use in your arsenal. 🪡

That was really a beautiful dress! The trim and the pintuck bib added such dimension. Your attention to detail is phenomenal. Just a personal preference but I do like the solid color better than the tiny prints that you often exhibit. Love, love, love the blouse that you wore after the reveal. If I remember correctly that was the one that you had made out of a vintage tablecloth. That blouse is the perfect example of using a print in a dynamic and sophisticated design. And having your hair up at the very end was so flattering and attractive!! You are moving out of your "cutesy little girl" phase into that of a (still whimsical) stunning professional career woman.

I love the trim detail you added to the dress. I think it gives it a finished and polished look but doesn't make it look juvenile. If that makes sense.

I was heavily into LARP and renfaires between 2005-2008 here in Germany. This was the time when first onlineshops started flooding the market with asian made products where there was near to no availability to buy those costume pieces . It was DIY or pay an artisan. Now that there's cheap fast fashion costumes to buy for newbies many reacted by elevating their DIY'd or custommade garments to a crazy level. My partner even dropped out of LARPing because he felt too much pressure to keep pace with his kit. In my experience you will find a higher percentage of artisanal vendors on smaller markets. Especially if there's a museum or a reenactor's club organizing it, there will be more people showing their skills, trying to educate people. With the larger markets, comercially organized, there will be more souvenir class vendors and more professionally presented shows. Since drinking age in germany is 16 (beer and wine) or 18 for everything else and there's no laws about drinking in public, you won't find a 21+ area. Kids will just receive a differently colored armband at the ticket booth. So I had a few question marks in my head when you began talking about a 21+ area... As for language: in Germany most vendors and some visitors try speaking like they did in Martin Luther's time and fail horribly. Very cringe.

I would have you talk with the vendors before you lable their goods fast fashion. You may well find that they have designed the garments themselves and then set them out to a small factory in Indonesia or in India in order to have them made in time to be able to sell them at faires... Also not everyone can afford to spend more then $100 for a bodice... and I say this as someone who work faires and can't afford to get more then one $50 bodice a year to work faire in.
@HaleyMarieVintage
@HaleyMarieVintage 5 дней назад
Because you work at faires I am sure you make really fantastic use of your bodice and it sees tons of use which is super sustainable! Part of my channel is talking about ways to be mindful of overconsumption and there are certain price points where garments cannot be ethically made. If that part doesn't resonate with you that is okay.

@@HaleyMarieVintage Don't lable a makers goods fast fashion without first doing due dilligance on who makes what. You are an influencer you owe it to those who take your words seriously to make sure you are correct and not judging someone false.
@HaleyMarieVintage
@HaleyMarieVintage 4 дня назад
@@catherineleslie-faye4302 I didn’t mention any specific brands, so I feel very comfortable with my position. Also I did a perusal of all the clothing companies sites and after reading their about sections still feel good about my 50% of the brands for sure practice ethical sourcing. When brands source ethically they call it out, because it take so much more time, effort and money to do. I have been learning about how to spot fast fashion practices (which can apply to small businesses too) for well over a decade. I’m sorry I touched a nerve with you but I don’t regret or take back what I said.

Hi, we met at the food stalls! I just wanted to say I didn’t think you were awkward. I was actually planning to say hi and run away because I am extremely introverted but then you started talking to me and I panicked because I did not plan what to say after that. Anyway, sorry for being awkward, I literally cannot talk to people, but it was nice to meet you irl and hear your breakdown of the faire!

@elisabethmontegna5412

I feel like it’s a pretty common introvert thing to not know how to elegantly wrap up a conversation. It’s particularly obvious when it’s a group of 3 or 4 introverts and the conversation has run down and then we all just stand there awkwardly trying to figure out how the exit the situation. I think we need a script or code word or catch phrase to use when it gets to that point so we don’t all just stand there staring at our feet until someone says something weird like, “well I better get go use portapotties before they turn into a biohazard,” or whatever and we all go, “right, yeah, see you on the flip side,” or “of course, good luck with that, bye,” and then run away cringing.

I discovered Vitassium by Saltsticks recently and they’re brilliant as there’s capsules or sachets to dump in a 16oz bottle of water. Has made my life sooo much easier. Thank you for mentioning the electrolyte thing - it’s an excellent point for those of us who need to take that into consideration. Same with the snacks. Looked so much fun. You looked amazing.
