Oh no! I was already planning to make a Love notions BF cardigan and a TATB Bertha cardigan in plain fabrics but I think I need to now also go out and buy some stripey fabric to make a Harper cardigan with 🙈 It looks so nice!! 🤩
Is the neck band cut on a fold? I have 45 in wide fabric and it's not long enough to cover my neckband putting it on the fold for the largest size of the pattern.
I use Seraflock which is a ‘stretch thread’ and very similar to woolly nylon and it’s great for sewing a straight stitch on stretch fabrics. However, they recommend to hand wind the bobbin like you would with stirring elastic because even though it stretches it can still break if stretched too much, it happened on the sleeve when I pulled on a close fitting top I made that has a small amount of negative ease. I’m not going to rewind the bobbin in a month of Sundays though because with the thread being so fine there’s a heckuva lot on there, I’m saving it to use on looser fitting garments.
Hi! I have made this cardigan following you're tutorial and it was awesome! I'd like to make this cardigan for a friend but she wants a sleeveless version, could I just not attach the sleeves and hem? maybe make the front and bottom bands more narrow? Any suggestions?
Am impressed with your efficiency and especially your attitude. Too many people can "beat themselves up" over so called errors so your attitude is refreshing. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter and can be thought as an educational experience! LOL. If you were going to hack the pattern how would you do it so it meets in front for a button and button hole application? I love this pattern as it is sleeker than many I have seen. Thanks and happy sewing.
thank you so very much!!! I would have two options! either widen the front band to overlap or just extend width of the front of the Cadigan but then measure to add the extra to the band. it would not be super difficult ❤️
Hi Diana! I lost my sewing mojo for a while, but you’ve inspired me to dig into my Olga’s stash and make a couple of these cardi’s. It’s actually chilly here in Vegas right now, and these are just perfect! Thanks!😊🌼🌺🌸
A question... if I use tartan fabric that's an heavy fabric, as I use the lining, do you think it's better to reinforce with vlieseline or something the shoulder parts?
Love it. I’m making the Chapman Cardigan (for the 4th time) and I was thinking about putting flounce around it instead of the bands-what do you think? Any suggestions on trying this hack?
Oh that would be so fun!!! For a flounce I would do a 1.5-2x bigger band so you could get the gathered flounce effect! I’d love to know how it turned out! I may have to try it sometime!!
Hi I'm new to your channel..I really appreciate everything that you are doing for us ...I try to download the pattern but I don't know which one to download from ...there's so many ...can you.help me by telling me which one I should download
What a great idea!! I am actually working on a Color-blocking tutorial and I didn’t even think about doing that to these sleeves but the concept will be the same!
Meant to send you a link if you want to check out a video I made for Ellie and Mac about color blocking haha - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o8ScNlYSu2s.html
I made this cardigan but my front band wasn’t long enough when I clipped it to the cardigan. I’ll have to cut another front band and make it longer. Cute cardigan though.
Hi!! the best part about the serger having the knife is that it will finish the edges neatly. If you disengage the blade it will not trim the extra seam allowance and it will therefore encase a bulky seam if you are not careful to get it right on the edge.
