The Great British Sewing Bee
Series 10
Episode 5 of 10
The remaining sewers celebrate fashion and textiles from India. Kiell Smith-Bynoe and judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young are joined by a special guest judge, Priya Khanchandani.
The Pattern Challenge takes inspiration from the jacket popularised by the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
In the Transformation, the sewers are challenged to make an outfit from two fabrics originating in India, calico and Madras cotton.
Finally, for the Made to Measure the sewers create evening wear taking inspiration from elements of the sari.

Another good review Sam. Thank you. I decided to start rewatching Season 1 and what a difference! In the beginning they were focusing on delivering quality sewing and finishing garments well. The judges were far more supportive too. Such an enjoyable show then. Whereas now it’s all about sewing as fast as possible and it’s impacting on the quality of what is achieved. I also don’t think the Bees have sufficient time to deliver properly as virtually no one ever finishes and yet they’re clearly competent sewers. Such a shame really. Anyway, My rant over! 😄 Thanks for your work pulling this vlog together Sam. It’s good to hear a real sewer/sewist chat about it..

I often wonder if they aren’t given a clear set of instructions in the studio because it happens so often that people miss things that seem obvious to the viewer in terms of the brief, great synopsis 😊

Really enjoyed this week’s episode and your synopsis - really sad to see Lauren go and I’ll miss her flirting with Kiell 😂 I think Pascha may be the one to watch but each week’s challenges demonstrate the sewists different strengths and weaknesses so nothing is ever certain. Roll on next week. 😊

I had a shock visiting Hobbycraft, a life size Patrick standing at the top of the stairs. On second look it was cardboard 😂 BTW space fabric very cheap in the Rainbow Fabric sale, I think the astronaut panel is now £1.99.
