Hello Roller, Yep, you got that right! The maching I had for over 35 years had the clutch motor. Now My maching has the servo motor. Much safer. Thanks for watching!
Great advices and sense of humour! 😂😂😂😂😂 Here in Europe, industrial sewing machines come with a guard, that almost everybody removes, so we have to be careful! 😅😅
Good video! One thing I’ve had to watch out for, is my heavy leather machines. They have a second foot pedal to raise the foot, instead of a knee lifter. I have to make sure I don’t accidentally hit the go pedal instead of the lift pedal. So my personal rule is, never get in a hurry. Thank you for making these videos. I really enjoy them!
Happened to me. About 30 years ago. 1993-94. Using my trusty Adler industrial upholstery machine. Needle went through my right middle finger at the cuticle. (Karma for road rage flip-offs?) My automatic response was to pull away, like when you touch a hot stove. The machine continued cycling stitches. Of course. by pulling away I flexed the needle which hit the plate and shattered into fragments. Went to the E.R. They called in a hand surgeon. (Lots of pain medicine.) He worked on me for at least thirty minutes. Had to tourniquet me middle finger for that period of time, X-rays to find the fragmented needle pieces. Out of commission for over a month. I feel it to this day. So take this man's advice and never lose concentration when stitching. Stapled fingers many times.
Wish I could say I've never sewn my finger but alas, I have. The real problem with doing this is the reaction to jerk your hand away and that is bad! I have shot myself with a staple gun multiple times and both the needle and the staple hurt more coming out than going in. Upholstery shear cuts are pretty easy to come by also. Have a good day!
I did it sewing a large pop up tent trailer canvass, broke off in my bone, ouch, pulled it out with the diagonal cutters, bled like mad, pounding , throbbing ache for a couple weeks, but we upholsterers are tough.
Yes it can happen ive seen it twice! I used to sew for GM production they had to call mechanic to take machine apart. Afterwards i had to finish sewing on that machine... scarry!!
Hello Sir, could you please advice how to design a nifty sewing table extension you have. Looks perfect. Can't find that info anywhere. Thanks in advance
Hello Aaron, I just made what i needed. No info other than I knew it had to be 60 inches wide to handle the with of the materials. Please keep liking and watching!
Distractions will get you every time, especially if your rushing to get it done. I had a chunk of thumb stitched back on, E.R. Doctor started sewing before the pain killer kicked in! Guess that's why they take that hypocritical oath 😢
Hello Flint, Glad you still have your thumb! I tore off my left index finger at the end knuckel. I'll never wear gloves while using a drilll again! I put it back together myself... Thanks for watching!
My mom once stuck the needle through her finger. It was, in fact, as bloody as your ketchup puddle! Forty years later, I still think about it at least once every time I sit down to sew!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery Shes 84 years old, and I suspect she doesn't let a day go by without sewing, or at least thinking about it. Quilts are her main love, but she's done her share of upholstery in the past, and her DIY spirit is the reason I took up sewing.
Not quite the same topic but when I was younger I hit my thumb very badly with a hammer and the pressure that built up in my arm had to be relieved . The solution was to pierce my thumb with a red hot needle ( done by a Nurse ) the relief was amazing , and it wasn’t painful ! but the blood shot up about five feet into the air and all over the Nurse’s white starched apron ! .
Hello Ron, You are so welcome! I am using the Juki LU-2810. I sure do miss my Chandler/Adler that I used for 38 years before I wore it out. It ran like a German watch and so quiet. The Juki has it's quirks that I deal with. I can use it till I can't sew anymore... Please keep liking and watching!
Our sticher of 40 yrs got a needle into her finger bone once. Took the needle out and brought her to the hospitable with it in her just in case a fish hook effect was there. I got once thru the finer but just off to the side of the bone and nail. First time in 50 yrs and hopefully the last.
I have got the end of my fingernail 1x in my 7 years of doing this. My dad has been doing this for 40 years and I seen him sew his finger 2x. If it pokes lell then 3 stitches it just pokes holes. If it runs more then 3-4 it cuts
Twice! Twice I have been bitten! The latest was a one shot through my finger. Previously I took a double stitch through my hand between my thumb and index finger. Both times it was because I inadvertently hooked the toe of my shoe under the front of the foot pedal. Pulling out that tex 70 is not an enjoyable experience!
