I would wear the shorter pants with more casual top and shoes like the pattern showed. Very nice work. Thanks for explaining the redrafting of the pattern size.

Thanks so much for the video. The culottes look great on you. I started sewing a couple of years ago. I learned everything through RU-vid videos and am just loving it. I especially appreciate your showing how to sew the fly/zipper according to the pattern directions. I sewed a pair of jeans before using another video and it was done differently, of course. Thanks!

you are an absolute life saver!! bought 5 patterns on a whim (there was a $2 sale at joann’s😭) but upon cutting out the pieces i realized that pants are NOT an easy first project. the zipper in particular was stumping me but your detailed description and demonstration helped me so much!

I made this pattern several months ago. I put all the pockets and they are fabulous. And I made it in plaid. And I love them. I plan to make another pair hopefully soon.

Thank you for this sew along. I now have this pattern on my list since we are about the same age and body type. I hate to say it but I zip to where you try on and model and that is what I’m making pattern choices on. How they look on you! Lol. Also, this yellow shirt in the close of this video, did you make it? If so please disclose the pattern. It looks great! Thank you for inspiring me to start sewing again. ( class of ‘84)

Hello!! You are watching one of my early days videos! Hard to believe that was only 4 months ago :) I do love these pants. I made them again too in corduroy. The yellow shirt, alas, was not made by me. I'm sorry, but it is basically a henley shirt pattern but with a little ruffle around the front placket. There is probably something like that out there! I am so glad to meet you! Class of '86! :)

I bought mine off ebay. Just do a search for Heat Erasable Marking Pens. They should be available on Amazon or other sites.

How did you stich the hook and bar closure on?

It has been so long since I made this video! I'm not sure what is in it! But carefully, and by hand, and I usually position it so that the hook and eye will take most of the strain and not the top of the zipper.

Hi, my daughter sews and is thinking about making this pattern, could you give me a general idea of about how much fabric it would take to make one pair of pants?

Well , on the envelope it should say how much fabric is required. But in general what I would say is measure the length that you want the pants to be, double that, and add about a quarter yard, and you should have enough if it's 45 in wide. If it's 60 in wide you'll need much less. In general.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. I'm making these right now, first time attaching a zipper fly. Should the zipper be longer than the fly so that it extends out of the top of the fly like shown in your video? Or should it stop at the top of the raw edge of the fly like shown in the directions? In your video, what do you do with the extra length at the top? I'm so confused. Thank you.

Like the directions. I just had to look at my pants because it's been so long since I've made these. It looks like the stopper at the top of the zipper coils is inside of the waistband. I would assume that I put to the stopper at the edge of the fabric. Because it's enclosed in the waistband you can probably cut the extra tape off that does not have coils on it at the top of the zipper. I hope that helps

The black fabric was a polyester linen blend. Nothing too fancy :)

Hi! Needed this for a project and I have a question so for the waistline you cutted it to 16 so it can be able to fit but I'm a size 10 and it isn't on the pattern itself would I have the waist line to a size 10 for it to be able to fit?

I'm not sure I understand your question but this pattern does need to fit your lower waist fairly accurately. Can you buy a pattern with smaller sizes because making that big of a modification will be tricky.
