Thanks for the great tips sewing swimwear. I've made my own since i was around 12. I'm sure those first ones weren't great but I loved making them. Actually my first try at making swimwear was when i was 11, and cut my one piece into 2 pieces. I bet my mom wasn't too happy about that! Of course at age 66 my body has changed, so for bottoms i make a high waisted short, with an inseam about 2 or 3 inches. It keeps my bum covered and i can then where a cropped or bikini style top. A suggestion for finding a style you like is to check out swimsuits in thrift stores. You can see how it is put together and also take it apart and use it as pattern, making adjustments where needed.

Great tips. I made a @jalie pattern and I now wear it all the time. I was so worried, but it came out great.

Thank you for your video, it gave me the push I needed to try a swimsuit. I already had the Amelia pattern from Diby club and some fabric, clear elastic and power mesh so was good to go! I altered the pattern, for length and graded it. Not realising the pattern has 2 darts, eeek. Elastic technique Def improved as I went along and elastic for shelf bra is too low but it's wearable and I'm considering making another!! Thank you, enjoy your hols x

It all makes sense - always wanted to make a swimsuit but I have big boobs and always do a full bust adjustment - not sure I could manage that on a swimming costume. Fascinating vlog, thank you.
