A tip for the decorative sewing: if the leather is rather thick and you have trouble sewing the decorations by hand, just use your sewing machine without any thread to "punch" the holes in first and then just thread the decorative ribbon trough the holes with a needle🌹

I watched this for at least 5 times over the past week. I was looking for cosplay corset DIY for my Ciri cosplay and your video was the first thing i found. Funny coincidence that you made Yenns. I sewed my first mock up today and it turned out quite nice thanks to your instructions. Im planning on doing at least one or two more before I actually start with the leather. Thanks a lot for this great video, it was suuper helpful for a beginner :) Liebe Grüße aus den USA!

This is awesome! Do you think this could work with my own ciri corset? My friend and I patterned out ciris corset and at this point I'm working with cheap fake leather and sewing foam into it to give it more stability. I'm having a lot of trouble seeing the pieces together as I am also seeing through foam and glue. Do you have any suggestions for a better way to go about this?

Great job!! Thanks for posting this tutorial. Question: did you do anything to the curved seams of the leather after you sewed it all together? (Like did you trim them down or flatten them to all lay in the same direction?) Again, thanks for showing this project! 😁👍
@JakCosplay
@JakCosplay 6 лет назад
I actually flatten them with the hand stitching afterwards so it lays down nice and flat...
@Lelana2001

How did you stitch through the boning for the biais binding? Unless the boning doesn't go all the way to the top and bottom of the corsette? Is there a margin between the corsette edges and the boning?
@JakCosplay
@JakCosplay 4 года назад
It is slightly shorter but the one i used a soft plastic bonig, if your machine is strong enogh you can sew on :D
@VexNoir

How much fabric did you have to use for this? And how did you make the top? :)

about 0.5 meter, think the leather was 1.2m wide. I made my own pattern for the blouse.

The tutorial and pattern is very helpful for making this, but the size would be a tad too small for my waist ( 34” ) I could try to extend the front pieces.
@JakCosplay
@JakCosplay 5 лет назад
Yeah that would be possible... I would try to extend at the front and back, depending on your waist size and shape. My waist is pretty much straight and I dont have wide hips eather, so this pattern may not work for everybody... thats why I also showed how to do a custom made one :D

@@JakCosplay any tips on printing? we are the same exact measurements inch-wise - but when i got to the handstitching I realized my patter is about half the size it should be. AH

can you make an ciri corset tutorial? or is just the same? i don't want to fuck it up :c
@JakCosplay
@JakCosplay 6 лет назад
Hi Saku... I would do ciri´s cosplay the same way. Its just a different design but overall the same technique. The only thing I would maybe change is the fact that ciri´s corset is really long. It doesnt end above the hips like yennefers one, so you may just add a boning on the top part of both hips. Hope you know what I mean. If you do them the full way down and close the corset your hips will get slimmed too. But thats just If you want to keep a more hour-glass figure. Otherwise its possible to do it the same way as yennefers.

You just copied The Cosplay Nerd's tutorial. And stole their Yennefer corset pattern. I thought this looked familiar. At least credit the original RU-vidr that made the pattern and first video

OKAY?! First of all, I know the video you are talking about. Of course I am doing research before I start a new cosplay like everybody else! Especially If iam doing something I never made before. I watched several corset making videos before I made mine. Let me just say she made a great yennefer and she is absolute adorable BUT saying that I stole her video and her pattern is complete bulls**t. Did you compared both patterns? I showed on camera how I made mine?!!! So how is mine stolen? Its not the one you can download at her site. I get some hate comments like this from time to time and usually I just dont react and ignore it. But your statement makes me fu**ing angry. First of all she is using a complete different pattern making process: I am using cling film and paper tape since I started cosplaying. This is the only method which works for me. I do all my cosplay patterns by my own or I change bought basic patterns from simplicity or other brands. Fine! So she does alignment marks for all pattern parts, regular pattern making progress?! I dont get your point, everybody does it that way and also professional pattern have those connection lines especially for the sleevetop connection. She uses less approaching encore so she fixed everything with handstitches right after cutting the pieces. Again: regular process while sewing leather! I usually do this with all fabrics which are not easy to sew like slippery, very thin or very thick fabrics or leather. I also V-Cuttet all parts because it is easier to lay down the curves especially with thick and less stretchy leather like mine. This is actually a technique I learned from my gradma. Just want to get the copyrights clear! I also made a full innerlining with hidden bonings and showed the steps for this part. She used a complete different method and used a second layer of leather to stabilize her corset, no bonings, no inner lining. And just because I want to compare it right: She used a different bias tape method for the edges, I wanted them in a 45 degree angle. So lets stop hate for now. She is a great cosplayer. I really liked her video and it helped me to get an idea how to do my corset like a lot of other videos from great cosplayers, costume makers or artists too. If you dont know her: Give her some love and leave a sub at her page!

You've clearly never sewn before, lol. Otherwise you'd realize that this is done completely differently. First of all, did you happen to realize that this pattern has THREE arched Iines on the side, while The Cosplay Nerd's only has TWO? (Nevermind the fact that Jak Cosplay made the pattern on camera so she clearly didn't just copy The Cosplay Nerd's pattern.) Did you also happen to notice that this tutorial uses invisible boning and a cotton lining, while The Cosplay Nerd's does not? Finally, did you happen to notice that the corners of the bias tape were done with a different technique? Sorry to chime in, @Jak Cosplay, but it just irks me when someone claims COPY when they literally have no idea what they're talking about. >_

These are literally two different methods and corsets. I've been sewing for 15 years and I learned technical pattern drafting from a PhD. I saw your stupid comment on the other video so thank you for allowing me to give a view and like to this wonderful youtuber.
