Thank you! The pavillion has amazing acoustics and it's always a joy to attend the concerts there. It makes already good music sound phenomenal! Thanks so much for watching today. ♥♥♥
Hi Lara, I voted for the Vogue pants. I love your dress. The linen is gorgeous. Set in sleeves are a pain. The gathering looks nice on the sleeves. I don't know why they make sleeve caps so large. Very cute modeling with the tennis shoes. The symphony was so powerful! Beautiful!
Thank you! I loved the symphony performance! The new director has brought a lot of dynamics to the performances and some challenging music you wouldn’t expect to find in a town of 25,000. I’m super-proud and grateful to get to listen to quality live music!❤️
Hi Lara! I have had that pattern for a few years but have never made it. I love your version! I hate it when necklines turn out lower than expected. Your dress looked very nice with the camisole. Such a pretty park! I cracked up with the trains and the really loud - perfectly timed - truck in the background 😂 Where I live now there is a very busy set of train tracks that are used by verrryyy long trains, which of course I seem to always get stopped by when I’m in a hurry! 😒 Can’t wait to see your and @ErinSews collaboration! The orchestra sounded SO GOOD! Bravo 👏👏👏
I've been watching necklines on patterns for a while and it seems that many are either up around the neck or way low, and it's hard to find a nice middle. I hear you about the train tracks. There are a set of tracks on all sides of town and the depot is in the middle, so you are guaranteed of getting stopped often--or the train will pull into the station and be so long it actually reaches across the crossing miles down the way! Crazy... Thanks so much for the vote of confidence on the dress and I appreciate you taking your time to come watch my video and chat in comments! Thank you!
Hi Lara! 💕 I love your make, perfect fabric to the pattern! I can see it working with SO many aesthetics or “-cores” even as low cut you can layer, like using turtlenecks underneath or the pretty lace camisole you wore! I think the shoulder gathers are way cuter than typical set in and it looks intentional too! A happy accident as per Bob Ross 😁 That truck heard you and revolted 😂 Yeah Fabric Mart has been dangerous to my wallet 💀 I have not started sewing for fall 🍁 buuuut I have planned and pulled fabric already 😬
It was sooo noisy! I even edited out a couple more train interruptions... I liked how the sleeves turned out, so I'm glad to hear you liked them, too! I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up making next! I'm glad we connected on Instagram!! Have a wonderful weekend!
I think the gathering at the sleeve head looks good (even though it’s allegedly not supposed to be there). I like the camisole underneath. It’s annoying that the neckline is so low but that’s a great save to make it more wearable.
Thanks, Erin! I think I like the dress more with the camisole. It has a shift/overdress (can’t remember the proper word -mantle?) look to it. Next week is supposed to be cooler, so I think I’ll get to wear it for the first time! I hope you have a great weekend!
Hi Lara, I don't mind the trains at all haha. They are a perfectly natural sound 🙃 to me and I don't usually even notice it's there until you mention it. Yes, I realize I am nuts. I like these videos, though I don't ever remember seeing you show the patterns somehow. The neckline IS really pretty! And it doesn't look low, but you are sitting still and not moving around at all. That's just not life, so it would need to stay against your upper chest as you're moving around. Sleeve heads. IMO, Big 4 patterns usually have too much fabric in the sleeve caps. I've spent a lot of time in the past shaving off the tops. If it's not supposed to have gathers: Around the top of the opening, hold your sleeve cap against the opening with the sleeve facing you. Place your thumbs about where the seamline would be, and bend it all into a curve. The edges of the sleeve fabric should ruffle a little, but there shouldn't be any puckers where the seamline is. Excuse my clumsy explanation, I could probably send you a picture when I have another pair of hands here. There is usually too much sleeve cap acreage in a lot of patterns, and sometimes causes poking out at the top of the sleeve. Sorry.... More than you wanted to know I'm sure. Thanks for the beautiful visit in the park! ❤😘 Just saw the twirl, it's lovely!!
Thank you, Lynn, for writing such a thoughtful comment. I appreciate the information about altering the sleeve-heads. I actually really want you to tell me anything you know that will help me be better sewist!
Your dress is pretty. I am mending and shopping Instagram for a fall pants pattern. I want woven, elastic-waist pants with straight legs. Can't decide on a pattern.
Those New Look pants I made out of the last linen are pretty nice (I think New Look 6197). I do wish the waistband was a little higher, but you might consider them as an option. Mending is very noble! I do some mending, but for the really involved projects I procrastinate terribly! Hope all went well for both your mending and your shopping!
