Would love to hear more about your experience of being in recovery and the role spirituality has played and continues to play - and what it is that made you finally open up to it. Hopefully soon on your podcast :-) Something that came up for me and I don’t know if this resonates at all… you would love to be in a relationship. However, I wonder if subconsciously you are afraid of truly falling in love and then losing them - like you had to experience the unexpected loss of your father? The fact that you are drawn towards the guidance and care of older males also hints towards some unresolved emotions & trauma. Maybe, before you can attract the love of your life you will have to go inward and continue your healing journey - which you’re already mastering. Congrats! The right person will understand how HIV works and will want to be with you either way. Much love to you!

Nah. He said: "I might as well go do that again". Thrill seeking, pleasure and good times only please, behavior. Regardless of consequence or any boredom or discomfort. He just rinses and repeats. Circumstances are always there to break us and distract us. Some of us lack the mental capacity or the fortitude or the faculties to eject one's self from potentially harmful Circumstances. Provided the evidence is out there highlighting consequences to many activities, yet one still participates knowing full well. Good heart or not, at the end of the day we are all on a lone journey. An inspirational person is one whose actions speak louder than their words.

Former porn addict here. Some things I noticed: -He had childhood trauma, losing a father, and a mother that moved on quickly from his perspective . -He grew up in an emotional* vacuum. He didn’t have connection in his family system. -He felt like he couldn’t talk about his problems without judgement, which is describing a lack of actual support and connection, trust or ability to have vulnerability. -He didn’t believe in a higher power, and felt like he lacked purpose. -He numbed his life with habitual drug use. -He tried to fill his EMOTIONAL pain with PHYSICAL sex and drug use. -only AFTER hitting HIS rock bottom did he CHOOSE to change his actions and life. -He took responsibility for himself. -He loved himself. If anyone wants more info on sexual addiction and behaviors, check out the book “Unwanted” by Jay Stringer. It is fantastic and helped me understand my own story. -17 years addicted to porn. 4 years of freedom. 🤙🏻

This is definitely one of my favorite interviews! It’s so refreshing to see someone actually hold accountability for their actions instead of trying to blame everyone and everything under the sun for their problems. But what’s even better than holding himself accountable he was able to pinpoint where his trauma stems from and how it’s negatively affected him. And the absolute best thing of all is how he was able to crawl his way out of addiction and come out the other side to tell his story and hopefully try to help others who are suffering and struggle with what he overcame.

You mark Liata acolytes and sycophants in the comment section are canonizing and lionizing this HIV laden abject abomination of a human. How is Mark Grifting Liata or this eggplant 🍆 guzzling vacuous, effeminate, emasculated and cognitively impaired Sodomite he’s interviewing auspicious for society? Mark even showers this guy with adulation a little more than halfway through the video when he tells him his being diligent about keeping his HIV in check like he’s running a business, and Mark does not castigate or lambaste or deride him as he should, he instead reinforces the beneficial elements of this degenerates deleterious behavior. Mark is an intelligence agency asset. He has yet to provide incontrovertible evidence controverting his purported claim, which is an outright, unequivocal lie that he’s yet to make any profit off of his RU-vid channel soft white underbelly, and you obtuse naïve. Mark fanboy sycophants, providing him with views are so delusional or just patently evil that you actually buy his grift. This interview blew me away. From my mid-40s to my mid-50s, my use of drugs and sex was exactly the same as yours. I was never physically addicted but I was emotionally dependent on the adventures and thrills. That's how I dealt with losing my youth and accepting the inevitability of death. During those years, I became unable to have sexual relationships without chemical enhancement sand I preferred "intimacy" with strangers. I put myself in highly dangerous situations, even while I managed to maintain what appeared to be a "normal" life on the surface. I worked, went to the gym, attended community events, and had sober social interactions with friends. Advancing age put an end to that phase of my life. I was very fortunate not to die, acquire HIV or any other major physical or mental maladies.. But that way of life devoured my ambition and eroded my confidence and talent. It left me empty. I'm now in my early 70s and it's been more than a decade since I indulged. I. don't even think about it anymore. Congratulations on your efforts and success at pointing your life in another direction. You have many years left to develop your true self. I'm retired now and in a sexless, passionless marriage. Just kind of sitting around playing with my cat, learning about vegan cooking, starting projects that never get off the ground, and waiting to die. I hope you find real happiness, not just for yourself but for all of us who never gave ourselves the chance.

These can be peer work where you work with newly diagnosed and/or newly sober persons. These can be patient partner opportunities where you leverage your expertise living with HIV to help guide research and care delivery for people living with HIV. Particularly crucial is/will be expertise on how to reach people who are high risk, (drug use and sex), how to keep them engaged in care and get their viral loads suppressed. There is such a need for input from patients on how to make care more accessible and relevant to stabilize their condition, so the more people we have sharing their experience, the better we can help them and others like them.🙏

I need you need to s t fu. You go out with your slogan "HIV doesn't discriminate". Yes it does. It affects overwhelmingly the people who society neglects to the point where they end up not caring enough about the consequences out of pure despair. And then you go around telling them it takes only a pill and they're saved. Those pills are toxic af and many if most of the people who end up with HIV come from a very hectic and chaotic lifestyle which is really hard to change overnight just because they got a sudden diagnosis and are now asked to "simmer down" and get cured of their despair so they can have the healthiest lifestyle being HIV positive so they can basiaclly live. An almost impossible task. Many can't change because their mental illness is greater than their fear of dying of AIDS. So the adherence to the pills is just a fcked up, messy, conniving myth of yours. Stop spreading it.

@@jakez1930 I think pushing the Christian belief on people in their times of need may do more for the rescuers than the rescued. A lot of people I know who are into drugs would never fit into a patriarchal religion where white Jesus solves every question for them. Me included. Jesus a great example of someone to try and emulate (I think Mr. Laita is doing a great job of this). But our existence is an anomaly that can’t be downplayed by simple creation stories. We are made of the stuff of stars: pure energy, manifesting itself in all of the glorious forms, channels, and paths the cosmos creates for itself throughout time and space. It’s a lot more comforting for some people to believe that when they die they die and their bodies break down and are recycled back into the earth for the next life form. And that life ends with some finality and there is no eternal life other than the whole sum of what is left behind. It may not sound appealing or extravagant but it is a simple explanation that is more convincing for a lot of folks.

I thought to myself “man, I would love to have a weekend with nothing going on.” Then I remembered those weekends where I actually DID have nothing going on and how much I would drink. I’m over 9 months completely off of alcohol now, and at the beginning of that process, I very intentionally filled my weekends with things to do in order to have structure. I got more involved in my church, started spending more time with my family and friends, started playing more live music, etc. My weekends are the way they are because it’s BETTER to be busy than have nothing to. As a fellow 12-stepper (ACA here, adult child of an addict), I love hearing recovery stories...it's very very hard to be on the path of recovery. You have to have guts. Nobody chooses to become addicted. It happens. It happens because of childhood trauma. I wonder whether Drew knowing about his dad's cheating sort of looped somewhere in his mind and soul, and kind of brought about the sex addiction... as a way to be closer to him maybe...just thinking out loud... addictions always make sense, why this one and not that one, and it's sometimes useful to uncover that to then get to the root cause...the loneliness, unfelt grief, unresolved trauma... Big shout out to Drew, and fingers crossed the promises become true for him. ✨

Thank you! I appreciate Drew’s perspective. He’s shared some very personal experiences and insights of his life. I wish him only good news! He deserves the best in life.

Thank you for sharing! Being in the dark, lonely, and depressed comes in waves for me at times. I have gone into moments where I have latched onto certain pleasures for validation and feeling its the only thing(s) that make me "feel alive" and I was simply focusing on the wrong things. This story has touched me and I am grateful you have shared. Keep going! Stay strong for others and more will join the fight with you!

This is by far my favourite interview. Drew is so articulate and confrontingly self aware. I was captivated by his story.
