Sorry to hear about your husband but I'm glad the videos help. He can still have a good life but he will have to let himself find happiness. Keep me posted on his progress and let me know if you ever have any questions. You can always send me a private message
hi :) I'm sorry for your husbands situation. i my self have also become paralyzed from chest down incomplete injury. the best advice i can give you is (and I'm telling you this cos i learned from mistakes) is push your husband hardest you can to try recover as much as he can, because the first few months are crucial. he might hate you and what not, might tell you that its hard to understand how he feels, but for every sweat drop he spills, that is one step closer to any recovery that later on he might not get a chance to regain. I'm happy with my progress but in the back of my mind im bashing my self for letting the situation take over me. knowing that today i might of had more. also give him a lot of moral support. trust me he will appreciate and love you 100 times more than before ☺ wishing you two all the best. also if you need any sort of advice feel free to private message me. bye
Melissa Matthes I am a paraplegic as well and a Pastor so I will keep u 2 in my prayers sorry to hear about this but stay strong and stay in prayer about it..God bless you
My son became paralysed aged 3 because of cancerous spinal tumor. Even though we continually hope for a miracle I have been watching all your videos. You enable me to look forward to a bright future for my son. For that I thankyou very much. As soon as my son is old enough to understand I will watch them all again with him. You seem like a top guy and I wish you all the success with your future endeavours. Keep posting mate.
I am an occupational therapy graduate student and we were learning about spinal cord injuries this week. We had to research intimacy and your video was shown to the class. It was enlightening, and allowed for a broader understanding of what individuals with spinal cord injuries go through in regards to sex. Thank you for sharing your story.
@@ParalyzedLiving Hi Brian, how are you doing? That is awesome! It was enlightening to allowed for a broader understanding of what individuals with spinal cord injuries go through in regards to sex. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas, thoughts and your wonderful story. Kind regards, from, PaulLaw.
I have been with a double amputee for 26 years. We have a 20 year daughter in her 2nd year of college. We all have struggles and when you love someone you make it work. Your videos are so honest I hope they inspire others. Never loose your honesty it will help someone. Wishing you the best.
Dude.. you are amazing.. I cannot imagine the challenges and psychological/emotional trauma you've been through.. You are much more of a man than me. Thank you for sharing this. I know it's helping a lot of people.
Hey, just wanted to say thank you, my son who recently sustain a spinal cord injury told me about your channel. I Thank God that you are proof that someone can still have a quality life despite this issue. I am maybe a little overbearing at being a concerned mother, but I want to support my son in every way possible. I am glad you are so candid about your life, I would love to hear from those that love and support you...
Thank you for all your videos. My boyfriend is a t5 paraplegic and when we first started dating I watched all your videos to better understand everything he goes through. This was years ago and here I am still watching them when questions come up. :P Thanks again!
So glad to have found your videos! I am a newly graduated Physiotherapist and I feel that in school, I did not learn enough useful advice/knowledge to pass on to someone who is new to living with an SCI. Thank you for being so informative on a variety of issues, and your personal perspective is very valuable as well.
it's odd that medicine still has a problem discussing sexual issues. It is a part of us and medicine should not be shy to deal with it as professionals and people.
Thanks for being so open about the subject. I know it's not always comfortable, but I think dialogue like this is important. Not only for understanding disability, but sexuality as well.
Hey mate, you have already given so much help and knowledge to other SCI people/families etc, and continue to do so. Thank you so much for being such a great help and inspiration to all of us. I am a T7 complete and I'm only approaching my 2 yr anniversary but you have given me so many tips and have made my life so easier…Thank you for sharing and keep up the fantastic work….
I'm a lady with Incomplete Paraplegia and Cauda Equina Syndrome (absolutely no feeling at all where you sit on a horse) and it was informative to learn info about this from a man's point of view. OK, some parts of this made this grandma blush! I pray that you may have all the children you want. This is a different life for us, not one we'd have chosen, but we just have to deal with it as best we can. Keep your sense of humor, and keep enjoying life!
I experienced almost the same exact accident in October of 1993 and am paralyzed from just above the belly button on down. It is great to see you letting people know what it is like to be in a chair although everyone reacts differently to hearing the words" you will never walk again". I think I almost took it on as a challenge as I always loved a good challenge. I know that if your life is like mine (which I know it is) you get tired of hearing the words it is great to see youletting people know what it is like to be confined to a wheelchair and that life is not at all over just because you are in a wheelchair. Anyways good to see your video's, I may have some of mine up soon, take it easy brother!
God what a nice guy. So nice to see you so upbeat although I know you must have your bad days. You're amazing doing these videos you really are. They are priceless for some people who need that bit of inspiration, bless you.
I'm just starting to date a guy with t4 and your videos are such a good help for better understanding of what it's mean for him being in that circunstanses. Thanks u for being so open!
There are so many ways to have sex, I don't get why most people only think there's 1 way and if you can't do that way its not good lol. Props to you for not giving up and finding a way to have sexual relationships and enjoying it :)
@@ParalyzedLiving Hi Brian, how are you doing? There are so many ways to have sex, props to you for not giving up and finding a way to have sexual relationships and enjoying it! Best regards, from, PaulLaw.
Thank you so much for your honesty, It helps to know things like this before I talk to the doctor. My husband if going home after a tbi and t1 fracture that happened on 1/18/17. Intimacy and affection are super important to recovery & confidence. I hope you are well, and continue to make videos like this!
I've watched a lot f your videos. God bless and you're amazing. I'm a Testicular, Prostate & Bladder Cancer Patient from 24, 26 & 28 years old. I'm partially paralysed done to top pain from the 70 surgeries done to reconstruct my Internal Urogenital System. Good luck. You're amazing. God Bless, D. G.
thank u great video ive seen videos from organazations that not only not helpful but disastress so keep doing the good open hearted job and looking forward for the next one
What I liked the most about this video is your candor. You were honest about everything. I came upon your vids because I take baclofen but I don't have a spinal injury.....I took it as part of a program to withdraw from narcotic use but watching your vids helped me to understand how some people deal with and overcome spinal injury. I loved your proposal of marriages....very nice. Thanks
It's awesome that you were comfortable/open enough to put this up- I'm sure it's really helpful for men who it's relevant for, and their girlfriends! (Eventually I'll post one for women in chairs, because I apparently it does not exist yet; I guess women are just more shy about it!)
Watching older videos that I haven't seen before, it makes me smile because you didn't know it yet you will eventually have a beautiful little girl. ❤ Such a wonderful thing to have and share with your children.
@@ParalyzedLiving I understand all too well the expense of those shots. During my clinical, I worked for a fertility Dr here in CT. Was an amazing experience but unfortunately, you see some heartbreaking outcomes as well. So happy the last one worked. You have such a beautiful little miracle. 😉
Brian Ty for your honesty and openness. It's refreshing to know that sex is emotional for you. So many ppl only meet other ppl so they can use their bodies for their own enjoyment. Then they detach from them, and onto new meat. So glad you found real love in this sex obsessed world. You tell your wife I said she's very fortunate to have you. I hope you guys get a bambino soon.
This question is still asked often to me when people find out i have sci. Your explanation was ace! I sought help from a sex councillor who specialised in sci sex which helped. Unfortunately although i can stand for very short periods i have no feeling either. Im now working my way through your videos as im 3 years post injury and only really recovered in the last 12 months. Looking forward to the driving videos ;)
wow. great doctors I've got. Been paralyzed for 4 years from a car accident (t10-t11 complete) and never new any of that. Thank you greatly!! Got some good news for the first time in a long time.
thanks man...this video was encouraging. like what you said about sex also being an emotional experience. that is something I think us guys take for granted before injury...C5/C6
Great looking out with the video Blackpearl - You answered the questions that i had written down for my doctor - Much respect and keep doing your thing with the videos
these videos have been helpful, my husband became paralyzed from chest down after a head on collision in Jan 2017.we as partnership have been learning alot in the rehabilitation center, and also been learning alot from here too. we have been trying to find any information on my husband spinal cord injury.
Hey Brian I'm also paralysed from waist down from a back surgery about 3 years ago. My main issue is I'm having a hard time getting little man to stand up... none of the pills work...the doctor gave me this liquid thing to inject, that doesn't work either....can you please give me an idea about what I should ask the doctor because I don't want to keep putting my self and my wife through thinking something is going to work and it doesn't which is depressing. Thank you for all your videos. God bless you my brother!!!!!!
So I was in a bad car accident, and luckily my being wheelchair bound will only be temporary, but I tore all my ligaments, they have to be surgically rebuilt, dislocated my knee, shattered my tibia and fibula, which had to be also rebuilt with metal plates, I have to learn to walk and do everything again to rebuild my structure, then go into surgery again to rebuild my ligaments and be bed ridden and all again for a half a year then again have to learn to walk a third time... it’s a long road ahead of me. I stumbled upon your videos looking for ways to help with playing and watching my baby cousin, you’re great with your daughter and SO positive about your injury and everything you go through it’s really refreshing to see because I know I’ve been so negative and miserable and I should be happy that I am still alive. But I’m bitter of coarse. Anyways, I’m rambling. Basically I have no friends. Lol, and I think you’re super adorable by the way 😍 you’re super brave too for being so open and bold about shit, so thanks for the genuine good content to watch on.
Pleasuring someone you care about is what it is all about. You are all set! It is easy to see that you are an understanding, empathetic man. You are young and good looking. There are plenty of people your age who will see you as a prize. Enjoy your life. I am old and have had a lot of experience. You have what it takes. Go for it and enjoy life.
This really helped me, ive had a spinal chord injury 15 months ago, i find it very hard to ejaculate, ive no problems with erections but i cant feel anything, no matter what we try, its weird seeing other people with the same problem but your coping well with it and have a great attitude, Thanks
Thank you for sharing this as the issue has been on my mind a lot lately. I came down with MS this year. It struck my legs and I couldn't walk for awhile. I've got that back but now I was wanting he sex back. I can achieve a partial but no ejaculation. But I'm on Baclofen also. I can't even take a break from it because I also have severe spasms. It is so frustrating. I haven't spoken to anyone about this yet. But at least I now have a little more info. Thank you again. And I hope you and your wife have success with getting pregnant!
Greatly informative and yes, you are a very handsome man Without being too graphic there are more ways to be sexual than the in/out kind You have a mouth and tongue which can be used to great effect and full use of your hands and fingers You seem like the kind of man who utilises EVERYTHING in his repertoire 😁😉 Keep the vids coming 👍🏽
God bless you brother. Tough to talk about! I survived meningitis but it left me numb from the chest down. I have an incredible wife and I had the same reaction to viagra and cialis, makes my heart race but not much else. I will speak with my doctor about the injection you suggested. A four hour boost sounds great! Any side effects or drug interactions your aware of? Thanks again for sharing this.
First, I know you are helping people with your honesty and information. Bravo ! Ques : if you feel "nothing" how does having an erection feel? I'm surprised your paralyzing injury allows those nerves to work. I'm confused on that. But, I'm just curious, lived my long life without understanding and I wanted the truth. Well, I hope you are well and bless you and your partner.
We are about the same level. I'm complete from a gunshot T-3. Pretty much hit it on the button. Great video man my first video got me to your video funny enough. Subscribed and will defiantly be checking ur library.
blackpearlv6 I love your videos!!! My son is a t4 para complete and watching your videos have helped me tremendously. He is only 10 BUT I have wondered about this aspect (no we haven't had the sex talk with him but as a parent how do you tell a teenager this stuff when they are paralyzed). I know it is better for folks who "don't know what they're missing" but he is also reflexive in his aspect (his legs, toes, penis). Anyway I have found this video very informative and does let you know that there are options!!
I have someone in my life who lives with me that had a spinal cord injury 4 yrs. ago. But I have been with this person for 8 yrs. and he can have sex. He can walk, he can wash dishes, and even drives, take showers, put on his own clothes.
Excellent to go to science and its advances to continue with life and value physical and mental health. Boy, you are very handsome and focused, you deserve to enjoy life to the full, cheers! Greetings from Barranquilla, Colombia.
