I have been reading about cold wars between the casts especially Kim Cantrell and SJP. If it is were to be true, then hat's off to these ladies to be able to act natural on-camera for the sake of the show.
These early seasons when Darren Starr was still Producer were the last cleverly written episodes. After Michael Patrick King took over, the SATC franchise turned into a campy dramedy. Or as one film critic said of the second movie: "gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls". And as a gay man, I concur.

when they start to become a big pub for designer and all wanted to be in couple, it lost his magic. The real interest of the show was women who fucks like men and not apologize about it. I made the SATC tour in New York around 2008, and the tour guide explained how many women expected to have this life. She broke the fantasy right there. Nothing was possible in SATC. Carrie with his column couldn't pay for the clothes, the apartment in Greenwich Village, the kind of restaitant she eats...even the cupcakes was too expensive. And it became a conservative show. The only real goal was getting married to a rich man. But even the worst of SATC was better than And just like that! ( Miranda is spineless, Charlotte look like a stuff doll, Carrie sound like Howards mother in Big Bang theory. And young women in the show are everything except likable and funny)
And an Emmy Award! Looking back Kim was honesty the real star of SATC! She was the reason to watch & tune in. Which is why the new incarnation is not working.
