Bonnie Mcphee I just like men who are kind. I am personally not attracted narcissistic men haha but whatever you are feeling is your own thing. Men are supposed to be nice to women. Learn that ❤️
@@KRonna "men are supposed to be nice to women¨ - like, to all of them irrespective of their behaviour? If so, how about "women are supposed to respect men"? I just hate these double standards. You simply called a man narcisstic for no apparent reason and basically meant that he is not worth of respect, while at the same time you are bluntly saying "men are SUPPOSED to be nice to women"?
They may not of worked as a couple but it was nice of Trey to come back and do the photo shoot for her and even let her have that amazing apartment after the divorce.
If a bitch left me for my dick going limp (assuming that there was no possible access to Viagra) then I would just leave her high & dry. In the same manner that a woman could (and would) simply just let go of a man, a man should have no qualms about merely dropping a woman at the end of their relationship. #equality
writermachine80 she did everything she could do to work through his impotence. Trey gave up many times throughout their marriage when it got too difficult. “Can’t have a baby? Then we won’t have one” “I can’t have sex? Then we won’t be physical at all” Charlotte is a lot of things but she fought in that marriage with a lot working against her.
@@amywilson9591 Yeah, the writer's were really good at making Trey, a heterosexual man, look like the culprit behind the relationship failing. Because the show was primarily targeted to reach a predominantly heterosexual female audience, as well as a homosexual audience, the themes tended to centralize on making its female characters look like the victims of their circumstances.
This part always makes me cry. Trey was really respectful and beautiful towards her! Even when he realised he could never really give her what she wanted, Giving her the apartment was beautiful, trust me in the real world a lot of men would of told her to pack the bags. But when he still shows up for the photo shoot even knowing they were separating just showed his respect and love towards her. And like Carrie says, a relationship can look so pretty on the outside, but you never truly know what’s going on behind closed doors, great message!
Claire Bear it can happen in real, if Trey is gay and was guilty for using Charlotte as a beard! He got married, so mission accomplished. He can now enjoy all the gay sex in the world and he just have to act as if the divorce made him distrust women and dating.
I think he is not a guy, he just can’t perform, because he hasn’t separate with his mother. Inside he think he is still mommy boy, he can’t betray his mother, pity Try, he is a lovely man, lovable human being
Trey knew it was over. He knew he couldn’t give her what she wanted. “No, this is important to you. I at least want to do this.” That shows in spite of his flaws, he was a decent man. Heartbreaking scene.
I still get shivers at that last shot of Charlotte in black and white with Carrie's voice over about little girls thinking "that's what I want". This series was often shallow, but some moments just cut really deep.
I don’t think the series was shallow. The characters could be excessively shallow at times. There were also times when the topics were serious and depicted seriously. For example, Miranda’s mother’s death. I have to say though that a sweeping generalization that little girls and pearls wanting nothing more than NY apartments is way off.
@@racheltwiggthat’s exactly what it is , often times as we get older what we had depicted to be the “perfect relationship” turns out to be nothing but an illusion
Excellent acting when they shoot their last pose together. They didn't belong together anymore but it was still painful for them. Well done as she smiles for the camera. But the smile doesn't reach her eyes. They are sad. Difficult acting job.
the scene of the photo shoot when trey comes back just break my heart... like actual pain is a lovely sad scene so well performed and too real... just perfection.
I love Anthony in this clip. He's so protective of her here, willing to deliver the awkward news to the photographer, and then the little shoulder pat he gives Charlotte when Trey walks in.
Kristin Davis doesn’t get enough credit for her acting role as Charlotte. I know why, Char is like the antithesis of everything ppl stand for nowadays, and she had flaws (all though ALL FOUR of the women did). But Charlotte honestly was a breath of fresh air during her Trey to Harry arc. I know ppl hate Charlotte but honestly screw them cause they don’t know how much of a gem of a character they are missing: She was reproductively challenged even though she desperately wanted a baby, suffered a miscarriage, had a shattering divorce, etc. and yet…she still stayed positive. And she didn’t lose sight of what’s important to her. Kristin did a fabulous job with Charlotte. No one could play her like she could. Plus, I always thought she was extremely pretty. 💗
I do enjoy Kristin Davis' acting. That said, yes I can admit Charlotte was my third least favorite of the characters. But I can tell you, at least from my perspective, that it was not rooted in the idea of what she "stood for" (I assume that to be a Park Avenue Princess with pearls permanently attached to her clavicle and a deep fantasy for romance). Sarcasm aside, there is genuinely nothing with that. The major problem I had with Charlotte was that she was deeply judgmental and the least open-minded of the four. Like because what she valued and appreciated was traditional, everything that deviates from that was apparently deserving of shame. Add on to that she was one of the women most prone to running out of the restaurant in a huff when conversation gets uncomfortable; like come on man, they're in their 30s and 40s that's not cool or mature behavior. THAT SAID, WHAT I DID REALLY LOVE about Charlotte's character is that her particular arc, especially with all her rigid philosophy on love, required so much deconstruction in order to finally find someone who loves her, appreciates her, forces her to OPEN UP but in a way that's respectful, and get everything that she NEEDED, not necessarily what she WANTED or PLANNED. The man she married is a sweet, honest, straight-to-the-point guy who is also head over heels for her and doesn't fit nearly any of her conventional criteria in a man. Then, that same man was immediately and open to raising a family with her, through adoption and conception, in her late 30s and 40s. That same man STOOD BY HER in her infertility struggle and SHE EVEN found the strength to deal with it and EMBRACE herself to still be there for others. What I appreciate about Charlotte is that, despite everything she stood for, she ultimately got the life of her dreams in a way that was against her whole playbook and she still showed genuine love and GROWTH. Absolute respect to your comment, I promise (and capitals are for emphasis, not anger). Blessings.
Trey had issues but wasn't a bad man. Poor Charlotte. She's so sweet. I love how she ends up with Harry. Those two are adorable. Anthony is hilarious. I hate how he married Stanford. That was bad writing in the awful second movie.
BxGirl Blazin' agree, think though he was pressured by his mother to marry settle down and have grandkids. I'm mean the ep where bunny learns that they were going to try to adopt, the character was such a bitch😒
People need to understand that charlotte never deserved trey, she cheated on him with a gardener she was only after his money, I don’t understand why people are calling her wonderful, trey’s sperm were fine it was her who had reproductive issues yet she blamed it all on trey and got the apartment and an engagement ring in a divorce and the most disgusting thing she did was she still lives in the apartment she got in a settlement with trey with her CURRENT HUSBAND HARRY!!!!
@@Okbye654Charlotte deserved someone better than Trey! She thought at first that he was her dreamy husband sharing the same dreams she did but he disappointed her in every single way! Regarding my ring and the apartment she deserved them more than anything since she didn't had a real marriage
3:01 That's probably the most caring thing any man has ever said to one of the four lead women in this entire show's history. He said it, and he actually meant it, and we could TELL he meant it.
I never respected Trey more than during the divorce when he sent a message to his mother that Charlotte gets everything she wants. Their marriage didn’t work, and they weren’t happy together but he didn’t hold that against her or make her suffer for it
When she said little girls want that I felt chills because many people picture marriage like that and we get sold on a perfect image when it really isn't.
This is why I loved Charlotte. She went though something incredibly hard that she worked so hard to keep up and couldn’t. But she didn’t break down and kept trying to find her dream man, while staying independent and true to her values. I wish the series would have explored her and Miranda’s relationship issues more as it was way more relatable than sex-crazed Samantha and needy/insecure/selfish Carrie.
I like Charlotte and Miranda but I’m unsure why you feel the need to slut shame Samantha. She was the best friend out of all of them, always there for them in their times of need and supportive of their lifestyles even when she didn’t understand. The other three were so judgmental, I wonder why someone as open minded as her even bothered at all.
I love Anthony. Everyone deserves a friend like Anthony. Truthful to you even if they know it might not be what you want to hear, caring, protective, and supportive! A person who has your back and knows your value.
That moment when the photos were being taken and Charlotte and Trey were together for the shoot was a GENIUS for the people who wrote this series. It says so much about the modern life, the sadness of it. But you have that irony, you just cant hate Trey and Charlotte, they were such beautiful people.
The separation and photo shoot scenes are some of the most touching, heartbreaking and deepest ones on the show. :,( So sad that they didn't work out. But Charlotte found happiness with Harry and I want to believe that Trey found his happiness, too.
2:30 “He may be the heart surgeon, but honey, you’re the heart of this whole operation! 2:41 “Not for nothin’ but you deserve more than that stick up his A preppy! That’s all I’m sayin’!” Love Anthony!
This has always been one of my favorite scenes in SATC. Trey and Charlotte were perfect for each other, in theory, but, as this scene shows, perfect in theory doesn't always mean perfect in practice. No one was too blame, things just didn't work out and Trey gave Charlotte the only things he could in the end: the apartment and the image of a prefect UES couple in H&G magazine.
This made me so sad. This is what I was taught by my mother what happiness was. In reality, it's messy and you have to let go of perfection and get real and true to yourself. I felt more in this scene than any other situation of the other 3 girls. As entertaining Carrie is, I like how grounded Charlotte was, even if she was snotty, she stuck to her guns. ❤
This was one of the best and most beautiful but also painful scenes. Trey and Charlotte were the perfect couple, despite their imperfections. He really really loved her. Shame it couldn't work out.
This scene made me cry so hard. He has his issues.. But he loves her even after break up and doing the Photoshoot was the one thing he could do to make her happy at least one last time.
Why was it that during the divorce settlement discussion, Bunny said to Charlotte, "When things didn't go your way you simply broke your vows?" It was so unfair! Charlotte wanted the same thing Bunny did, a baby! And it was Trey who changed his mind about having kids!
+heaventree ofstars Bunny didn't want just a baby, she wanted a son with McDougall blood :P Charlotte was willing to adopt a chinese girl that could 've been older than baby already. And she was taking hormones to do an in vitro although trey had his objections. He changed his mind when all of this started. I think she was wrong to have pushed things so much. He was wrong to involve his mother.
He was so wrong to involve his mother. What a momma's boy he was. But I don't think Charlotte was wrong to want a baby and try to do whatever it would take to have one. But she shouldn't have put them on a list for a Mandarin baby without consulting Trey first.
He changed his mind because it shouldn't be this constant stress, and work to have a child. Also, maybe you should consult your husband before trying to adopt a Chinese baby.
They wanted different things and I can understand both of them. Both wanted kids, but Charlotte was prepared to do everything without clearly communicating this. I thought her action of putting their names up for a Mandarin baby without discussing it with Trey was unreasonable, and Trey has completely unreasonable in involving his mother. While Charlotte was right in not wanting to give up her wish to become a mother, so was Trey's not wanting to keep trying. I don't think he was selfish when he said that he couldn't deal with all the effort and the pressure to have a baby, on top of his demanding job at the hospital. You can say that Charlotte was the one injecting herself with the hormones, but going through IVF, and other fertility treatments may suck the life out of any marriage, no matter how much love there is.
Alexis Carrington Colby Exactly, Trey loved her, and said if it happened it happened, but if trying for child is bringing you nothing but misery, then maybe it's best to end things.
I re-watch this series in piecies on youtube now and I see how emotionally scattered people can be at times. Yet, we do have our feeling nature at the core of our being. And to show this kind of support is heart-opening. The frames do not matter. The names do not matter that much as what goes on in our hearts filled with life and soul.
This made me cry... In the early 90s I was one of those little girls and still don't have a happy ending either... Perfect couples are a lie people should stop selling. Those that do deserve all the trouble they get!
Kristin did just the right amount of sadness in that smile for the picture… where it’s very obvious she’s not happy at all but some people might not notice because she’s flashing her teeth.
I mean, Charlotte got A LOT out of that very brief, failed marriage: one million bucks and a gorgeous apartment on the upper east side. She divorced Trey on her terms, really. Yeah, I'm sure the breakup and shattering the illusion of the perfect marriage and husband are painful, but I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for her.
Anthony was a better friend to Charlotte than Carrie ever was, he was brutally honest but never put Charlotte down. Imagine if Anthony was the one Charlotte told about Trey’s “problem” right before they got married. 😂
One of the greatest scenes from sex and the city, got me every time and that look between them was so magical that’s what true love means. just with one look they wish the best luck to the other one
Really great point. This is why I'm always a little weary of things like "Relationship Goals" because people are only going to present their best possible selves.
trey and charlotte were boring together, too similar. what's funny is that the actor ended up with 2 women nearly completely the same on 2 different shows - charlotte and bree!
the song in the background makes this scene. it's called 'take me somewhere nice' by Mogwai and it is the best!! heart-wrenching yet beautiful. kristen bell's acting also on point
I never knew why other characters in the show try to make Trey seem like an asshole in that situation before and after the breakup. He couldn't give her what she wanted but he was still respectable. Honestly he's a more decent person than most of the main characters lol
This was always my favorite episode of the series. How protective Anthony was to Charlotte and Trey joining at the last minute! All made the best of a sad end.
Gentleman. We should take a leaf out of Treys book. In this situation, you don’t act petty or nasty. You step up, do the decent thing, even if it’s a shit of a situation
I was so happy Trey did this for her but there's something sad about Charlotte helping to perpetuate the same lie that led her to an unhappy marriage. Little girls in their mothers pearls looking at this impossible standard.
Anthony’s heart to heart with her was just excellent. Yes eventually he said “now get your butt out there” but he said some truly sweet things that a good friend needed to tell her. Also the blonde guy was funny with his comment about “I love this China”, just so desperate to please.
Trey was a good man... sometimes...it just doesn't work out b/c you want different things in life...but at that time...that was your person... Trey honored that. Guys....that shit is RARE! NEVER take what they did for granted.
Trey is a sea lover who married with an art consultant. Also he was a sea lover in How I Met Your Mother and he was looking for an art consultant (Lily). I think it is a nice coincidence.
