So heartbreaking 💔 to hear the passing of Coco Lee, she really brought honor during that performance aswell for being chosen for voicing Mulan in Mandarin Chinese. Her powerful and angelic voice will forever be missed. 🕊❤️😭
I remembered being awed, emotional, and have deep pride when this played on my TV all those years ago. Coco Lee made so many Asians beam with pride with this touchingly beautiful and poetic performance. Rest in peace dear Coco. My heart is heavy but I pray that you have finally found rest and eternal joy.
This is 2020 who’s watching😷😷😷😷I remember this song & movie💕❣️😢I had lost my husband in 1995, so I was instantly drawn to this song, and bought the CD❣️I think I had it on REPEAT- still missing me some him 25 years later this November🥰😢R.I.P. until we meet again the the New World soon at hand💕❣️💥🎊🎉I’m still in LOVE with you💞❤️💖😢
I just realized how crazy it is that we don't appreciate the artists that are alive and well and it takes their death for us to be reminded of their excellence and contributions and for them to be loved and appreciated. Coco Lee your a pioneer for Asian American artists and we owe you a debt of gratitude. You are free now of all your suffering and your heart is no longer burdened by your struggles. You did all you could while you were here with us. We will miss you. Rest in peace.
Not true, me and many other fans appreciated Coco Lee a lot when she was alive. We truly adored her, that is why it is so painful for us to hear about her passing.
Respectfully your statement is a bit ridiculous Artist are some of this most vain people walking the planet … vain … shallow .. We as fellow beings walking this earth are not responsible for praising.. worshipping artist, athletes , fill in the “blank” of any kind. It’s not our role and responsibility to live this often challenging and difficult life appreciating artists. For myself personally I got bills to pay, don’t have time to worship well paid artist who have an opportunity to live doing what they love and are well compensated for it ….so get real because you’re missing me with your comment I think that’s what wrong with our human existence… we spend a life time worshipping things that don’t matter…. it’s enough in a life time to grow, to be kind and live a meaningful life … meaningful has nothing to do with materialism and consumption
So sad , I just reading it in the news about her lost and got devastated. I remember seeing live this performance and it still one of my favourites movie songs of all times. Wherever you are, thanks for this inspiring song , literally kept me going through really bad times. Rest in peace, Coco, and thank you.
Thank you Coco. I am crying listening you. You have brought magic to our lives. I saw this performance live and I was so young then. Your voice is with the angels now.
Just to clarify, they are not dancers; they are martial arts masters of the highest caliber. These martial arts masters displayed their skills in a single take at the Oscar Academy Awards, flawlessly demonstrating their expertise. If your friend mistakenly referred to them as dancers, please help them understand the distinction. Their performance was a remarkable showcase of martial arts prowess. In addition to Coco Lee's incredible vocals and the beautiful music, their performance brought audiences back to the captivating world of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.' The combination of her vocals and the music created a perfect rendition that truly captured the essence of the film. It was a flawless performance that resonated with the audience. I am very proud of myself as Chinese.
Lots of nerves and pressure on a 26 year old! Well done, beautiful confidence, marvelous all around. Despite her global successes and fame, she was never arrogant and never corrupt. The world has lost an irreplaceable beautiful soul.
I knew a few Chinese people grown up in the west, one of them, a girl who practiced martial art with her father since a child, introduced me Coco Lee's music. We used to dance and sing together her songs in front of TV. Another girl, whose family run a takeaway restaurant in the city center, even took this name "Coco" as her western name for a long while. I think a lot of people are proud of her not only because of her greatness in her profession and beautiful appearance, but also because of her kindness in treating people around her, in her sincerity and pureness of heart. Not all famous people can keep a clean soul like she could. But ironically, the reality made her gone. I'm asking what kind of world are we living, and if there are environments where people like this must fail, then why should we tolerate this kind of environments. No we shouldn't. Never. Coco is left, but we lost a great personality, we lost a source of good energy, it's a big loss of us who are still alive. And if we let the greed of human beings kill people like this expand, then sooner or later misfortune will reach each of us.
What a beautiful woman, inside and out. I was a fan from the 90s. I had just downloaded her music on Spotify 2 months before she died. RIP Coco, the world is suffering your loss.
Coco Lee, we are always proud of you. You are our angel. We won't forget you. I first met you in Kaohsiung in Taiwan when I was 23 . I got your signature. I was happy then. I love you so much.❤
Beautiful !! I could not take my eyes off of Coco Lee, and the performance from the dancers. I felt as if I was their in the audience! Absolutely stunning show in every way. Thank you so much Coco Lee for your beautiful voice, and performance ❤
Coco Lee you had a beautiful voice and you’re so beautiful. I wish you were able to overcome whatever you were going through. I can pray for you and hope and pray you’re at peace.
17 years ago when I was a student, I kept watching this video cos it was a hit then... 17 years later, when I picked it up again, Coco Lee is gone. Rest in peace, Coco Lee. You r a Diva.
I have to say that only a little singers is able to sing live. Coco is singer who can sing live and is perfect. And, she is very beautiful, she is my number one!!!
Wow, just viewed this (9/30/2016). I feel as I have been under a rock all this time-smile. I never heard of CoCo Lee until now. What an amazing performer!
Hi Danny. I do not know when you posted your question (I cannot see a date), but, I am from the United States. It may actually also be that I was born in Cuba ( I am proud to be an American today though). Simply, I think of myself as a 'fellow' human being. First and foremost, I see myself as a child of GOD. And I simply believe, in this case, talent is talent. And no matter who you are, where your from, if you have something wonderful, nice, fantastic, to give to your fellow human beings, then, go for it. I am sure you know what I mean.
Saul Orihuela I posted the question yesterday. It's nice to hear you were born in Cuba! I just wathced a documentary film about the revolutionary leader Fidel Castro~haha... CoCo was born in Hong Kong but she is an American just like you. She released her English debut in the States after she made a great success in Asian pop-music market. However, her debut in the States was not successful. The performance at Oscar was the most highlighted point during the period she was developing in the States. Later on she returned Asia to continue...I am her fan for many years. I deeply know how formidable for an asian artist like her walking through along this way. So whenever an American complimented her performance, I would be very happy!
Beautiful and graceful, like sunrise and sunset. Powerful and overwhelming, like roaring sea and soaring wave. Your heavenly voice will always be resonating in our ears. Your eternal youth will always be in our memories and dreams.❤
R.I.P. Coco Lee! Despite being in physical and mental pain, Coco still had the strength to leave a final audio message to fans. "Dear, I am CoCo. I feel everyone's love and support and you are my pillar of strength. I will keep striving. During this time, I hope you all are also healthy and happy. I miss everyone very much. I am working very hard. I am thinking of you all. I miss you all so much! Love you, love you." She then said the following in English: "Thank you so much for the gifts. Beautiful and very thoughtful. Love you guys." Dear Coco, you will not suffer anymore. You will be missed and remembered forever...
With the passing of Coco Lee, the world has lost a true musical talent. Her incredible voice and vast range of singing skills brought joy and inspiration to countless listeners. She was a trailblazer in every sense, being the first Chinese artist to grace the Oscar Academy Awards stage with her remarkable performance.
