This year I've planted dozens of tropical fruit trees in an effort to document how they adapt to the climate here in the San Francisco Bay Area (specifically Los Gatos, which is USDA zone 9b or Sunset zone 16). I'm hoping to find a few that do surprising well so we can expand the palette of fruit trees for Bay Area gardeners to grow. This series will continue throughout the coming year as I follow the progress of the trees.
