Sorry for the re-upload. This is the semis between LCW and LD, China Open. Finals between LCW and CL coming soon. I do not own any of this footage. All rights reserved to BWF.
This attitude is exactly what LCW needed during whole his career against LD. You can easily tell from his eyes and body language in this match. Even the score, damn, losing first set and being down the bunch of points in the second, LCW was able to win the game and the match. Skillset of both players are the same, both have weakeness on the backhand side and using this a lot against each other. So it was all about mental attitude. It's sad, that LCW had to lose so much important games to finally get this mental form we all can see in this game.
LCW weaker mental is always obvious. What I don't see people talking about is his footwork compared to lindan. LCW often drag his non racket foot towards forehand back corner, while Lin Dan has a unique steps toward it. This make Lin Dan faster when he position himself forehand smash
Like Li Yongbo once said, it all depends on whether Lin Dan wanted to play. If his motivation was waning a little bit throughout a match, the other players stood a chance. Otherwise, he wins.
This march is among the best i saw LCW put teeth and nail to win over LinDan, those are kind of spirit he needed to register during his career marches against lin but sadly he lost most important ones
Lee Chong Wei has finally developed the weapons needed to win his own points against Lin Dan. This has come from needing to get past Chen Long's defense but it worked here. Well played.
I do feel for Lee Chong Wei when he fought tooth and nail with his nemesis China's Lin Dan in those two unforgettable and memorable matches in the final of the 2011 World Championship and the 2012 Olympic final for the gold both at Birmingham. Chong Wei lost both finals by just two points but I believed that there is little separating Lin Dan and Chong Wei.It was just that Chong Wei was a bit unlucky as Lady luck was smiling at Lin Dan. Yes Chong Wei could have beaten Lin Dan in both finals if he had did something very different in his game.He could have smash something he ever always did.
male commentator making a lot of cringe tactical comments that actually bring no value to the table, it's almost as if he expects any player to lose if they don't apply the tactics that he said during his commentary. A typical egoist.
