Nice job man! I'm crazy about details myself. It's gotta be better than good enough. It's gotta be way better than good enough.

Good one mate. You’d have to spend $3K+ US to get a new amp made as well as these “undesirable” silverfaces…

A wax museum may want that. Holy crap.!! You're the 6million dollar man of amp repair. God bless you, Champion. Players everywhere appreciate your talent. Good wiring technique on top of it all. They were mostly haphazardly wired from the factory until they figured it all out.

Well done! Thanks for sharing it with us. Hopefully the owner can afford to put good speakers in the cab and make all your hard work really shine. Cheers!

A great sounding amp! shame about the speakers, they hinder it! however, you should sign the shazzy, it will improve the value of the amp 100%! Keep up the good work cobber!

I think you did a Bang up job on this repair. You went above and beyond. What most texts would do you clean the old wax off the board and get that nasty duct tape off of the insulator board that goes underneath the islet bird why that was put there? Oh, my God knows. Like you said it was probably someone on a meth bench somebody methin around....lol.... The amp sounded perfect to me after you got it done.Use quality parts.You didn't cheat out so Hey, man.Great job.I would totally take my equipment to you to be fixed....

There seems to be a number of amps with circuit boards that are used for multiple versions of the same amp with the missing components already marked on the PCB. I am sure many of us have looked at these PCBs and wondered, "What if I just filled these empty holes?" (Come on, you know you have!) Just how much work would it take to perform the upgrade ( say from 25w to 50w, or a feature enhancement) would it even do anything besides fry the amp? Would it be worth the time and money? It has always seemed a lost chance for a cheap "maybe" upgrade or disaster! I, needless to say, don't have the skills, so I bow to your exalted wealth of knowledge. This seems right up the alley of you and your dad. If successful, maybe it could be a series! I don't recall anyone having attempted this feat previously (probably for excellent reasons!).

The biggest show-stopper there is that there would be different models of transformers for each version in the example of different power models, and additional componentry and hardware mounting points, panel labelling etc for additional controls which may not physically fit, but it would be a cool video to do one day on a suitable amp, sure!
@jerrylondon2388
@jerrylondon2388 Год назад
Success or disaster, either way, it would be interesting! Keep a look out for a likely candidate, I wouldn't worry about insignificant things like the right transformers.

I am building a new amp soon and i am going to send it to Brad and Lyle for a looksie. I am not even kidding. I just want a BGG and Psionic Audio badge to be absolutely certain its the best it can be, and have it on video.

That is definitively weird. I did work on one Vibrolux that would occasionally blow a fuse and I traced it down to the board, Pulled the backer board out and cut a fresh one, slid it in and all was well. No need for tape.

Hey Brad, I never understood why so many people are hell bent on replacing those blue caps. Most of the failures I’ve found were due to assholes stressing the leads too much in there “science experiments”. I am a huge fan of work..Kudos mate..!😊

Man how do you get those old blue caps to clean up so nice? They look new, almost waxed looking. Looks great Brad
@PsionicAudio
@PsionicAudio Год назад
As Brad is probably still recovering from his roadtrip weekend, that’s what these blue caps look like when you clean off the old nasty wax and give them a slight polish. They’re kind of pretty.

Does anyone offer a fiberglass boards for these amps? Thanks for the time you put in on these videos. I know it takes a lot of effort on you part but they are very infomative. Thanks

At least it's black duct tape. True gaffer's tape should not leave behind any sticky residue, and that silver duck, duck, duckt, whatever tape can and often does conduct electricity. I used duct or duck tape to tape up a 10 minute repair in my Les Paul back when I first got it. I was 12 years old and the tape shorted out the guitar so it mostly just hummed a lot.
@dustinthiessen
@dustinthiessen Год назад
even the good, fabric Pro Gaff, if left on a surface for a long time, especially being repeatedly heated, will in fact still leave residue. Most of the time you can often get most of it off with fresh gaff though.
