Yea, Florida seems to have switched over to half mile events. I guess they figured they could get more attendees through if it was only half as long. Still fun I’m sure, but nothing beats WOT for a full mile!
Don’t look at age, look at compression numbers. You can have an old motor with great compression & a newer one with terrible numbers. If you get a KA with decent compression, they are known to handle 275-325rwhp consistantly. It also comes down to what parts you use as you tend to get what you pay for. If you can afford pistons, rods, headgasket, studs, etc go for it!
