I think the sniper should have a domination line that makes him say "your stupid bloody hats won't save you now" or something along the lines of that XD
I view hats and miscs like crowns and royal garbs. They don't make you better at the game, but they carry the impression and authority of a good player. Dress to impress, as the saying goes.
I like this video. It's true. Having an unusual hat doesn't mean that you are better than the other players. I have an unusual, and I am a noob who always gets killed.
why all the unusual hate, if you like them, get them if you don't like them, don't get them. the only people who actively hate unusuals are people who like them, want them, but can't get them.
the reason why (people think at least) the unusual is good is because you've had enough experience in game-play and trading to get the hat, this is all ruined by being able to buy it.
Conor Glynn Would be nice if you could get an untradeable allclass unusual by getting all the chievs (on a valve server) because by then you are pretty skilled and it would be more impressive than a gibus
***** yeah, unusual prices are absolute bullshit, REGULAR prices for hats are bullshit, hell even painted hats are over priced, its just a hat, why is it worth 10,000,000 refined
The orbiting effects Throw of sniper aim, the the plasma effects make heavies more outstanding shields, the fire effects trick pyros, and last of the all the Flies effect troll people by flying through thin walls on 2fort and other maps
This also shows that when us, tf2 people WITH hats are standing off, like the pyro and demo where, and goofing off, a F2P(spy) comes along and backstabs, burns, or spams explosives at us, although 50% of F2Ps are respectful (engie) as they let us walk on
1:16 - Me killing a "Pro" with unusual stuff and then walking like I kill any other person (F2P or P2P) 1:43 - Me making fun of players who waste money only on unusual guns, hats, etc. 1:48 - The reaction of the player I killed with his unusual stuff Conclusion: I was F2P but with skills, after I bought some stuff at Mann Co. To become Premium I get a little respect from others compared to my life as F2P. Now Im a P2P with the same skills but without hats. "Skill always beats luck" - Sniper (Or in this case skills beats hats)
***** Sadly yes, I know about the economy of TF2. Thats one of the things I learn first since the day that I became P2P. Earbuds are no more a "coin" in TF2, now is just Keys (The main coin) or any other unusual weapons/hats or any kind of hat. PD: I rather get skill than fashionable.
***** 2 ways to play TF2 1. Conga, Katzozky Kick (I know I type it wrong), Box Trot, Square Dance, Rancho Relaxo, etc. In other words Party until a try harder pops out of nowhere. 2. (Since Gunmettle Update with Contracts) Pushing your team to defend/attack the other team, develop plans to win (Especially in Mann Up mode in MVM), and many others. But to be fair, yeah I sometimes go party when the both team is not doing their jobs or when I find friendly people (Spycrabs, Solid Spy Bow trot taunt, friendly heavies, conga lines or dancing). However, when the other team is playing like if it was the end of the wolrd if they don't win then I have to pull my team up to bring the guns to the front lines as well :P
I want to have both skill and fashion. So I get cosmetics, stranges I want, Unusuals, etc... I want to have them to be more unique. I like them due to the customization. I like the beautiful effects that unusuals have. I like the styles of many different cosmetics. My point is; If you like 'em get them! If you don't like them, don't get them. Just don't insult people for the cosmetics they wear. It makes you look bad.
It does not make you any better but you can assume that someone with 3 cosmetic items or even an unusual is capable of playing better then someone with a gibus or no hats at all.
not if the guy with 3 cometics spends his entire tf2 career trading while the guy with the gibus or no hats spends his entire time playing and getting better at the game, not caring about cosmetics
Yeah, but still won't make the game easier. Not long ago I used to be amongst the MVP scores as a spy and sniper (bowman) and I had only a gibus... It actually made the game easier, cuz every1 underestimated me. So I found out about the fancy fedora for the spy, it looks very cool with the default suit, I started trading.. simple stuff, selling weapons for a scrap each. Today I have an uncraftable fancy fedora, costs 1 refined and I no longer trade, but what I mean is: it doesn't matter if you have an (almost) free or an expensive hat, it won't make you better. I still have no hat for the sniper and I'm still a good bowman.
At this point, I finally managed to get all of the miscs/hats I could want for my classes, as well as getting skin and mesh mods for my weapons to my contentment. TF2 looks pretty good to me now.
It's not the hat that makes you good. It's the experience in the game that you have. An unusual is so hard to get that you will learn to play well before getting it
D3l3t3m4n_ yeah me neither, I spent 2.49, to be a p2p, just bought a key, never spent anymore money beside buying keys, sure I don't have the best things, but no one give a shit. Just play the game. But anyways its cool that you have that stuff, you sound cool, maybe we can play Hat Simulator 2 together sometime
Go through youtube about vids of Highlander/6s/other Pro Players, and pay attention as to who uses the Unusuals. Not that many right? Do they have _inadequate_ skill just because they arent wearing one?(THIS IS HIGHLANDER INCASE YOUR WONDERING)
Team Fortress 2 History Time: The illusion of an unusual hat started when people say experienced TF2 players run about with a strange effect over their heads. Due to the stupidity of most of the community, it was wrongly supposed that having one of those hats would make one play better, when in reality, they would only need to play the game more instead of spend hundreds of dollars on non-existent virtual hats that have been set on fire or pour knives down onto you. By this idea, though, many have gotten rich selling these hats on the Community Market, and thus a stupid misconception has once again kept the economy growing and Gabe Newell's pockets filled with money.
We need a 'Beware the Australium' video. I swear, every-time I see a soldier with an Australium Rocket Launcher, they end up dominating the entire server and pulling off insane airshots. And most of them were on the opposing team... ;(
I think it not that on my side I killed them with my "EPIC" skillz at pyro(not Actully Epic)(Not Actully killing him by skillz but kill him by his dumbness of tf2 P2P)
i think people are missing the point. the hats dont make you better. people who wear hats are good because they've played the game for a really long time. you need to play the game a lot to get good. you need to play the game a lot to get rare hats. rare hats are a sign that the player has played for a long time.
Completely agree with you. Been playing for 3 years now. And now I have an Unusual Crones Dome. But you don't have to pay real money to get an unusual. There's something called "trading" with profit. Started from scrap now I'm here. But I did buy premium tho because I don't have space..lol :D
I think this was my favorite short you've done. The little details all shine and the combo of metagame and narrative is great. (and yes, I feel compelled to do in-depth crap whenever I comment) I'm also a sucker for single sentences that are super intense by way of repeating the sentence like that. Granted, it was short, but it was a little silly and rather entertaining. If I were you, I might have tried to make the scouts face one of desire rather than rage (if possible), but that's just me.
I dont exactly mind how others have Unusuals,i even say how awesome some of them are, like running into that Spy who had the Unusual Cosa Nostra.(This is provided that the Unusual-wearer is like a Pro,instead of a loud-mouth Unusual Noob/Trader who spends more time putting others down instead of,say, idk,PLAYING CORRECTLY TO WIN?) Unusuals SHOULD be a testament to a player's skill...IF the only way to get them was like, say, victory over Tournaments,or something like that. Instead, you could get it via uncrating,or trading. True it _could_ be a sign, but nowadays with how many have Unusuals that only got them through trade? Nope, its easier to test them out instead of assuming they are an _OMG UNUSUAL WEARER,HIGH PRIORITY TARGET KILL KILL KILL_ mindset. (Its incredibly hilarous to see some tard who thinks he is l33t piss of a teamate who is Demo-Pro that plays in 6s,then proceeds to switch teams and own everyone, including me...yeah,hella worth it) The only thing WORSE then this are the NOOBTARDS WHO TURNED THEIR STRANGE KNIFE/STRANGE SASHA TO HALE'S OWN BY FARMING IDLE SERVERS EFFORTLESSLY. Seriously, dont embarass yourself by getting killed easily while using a HALE'S OWN ROCKET LAUNCHER/STICKY LAUNCHER,while you CANT EVEN F*CKING ROCKET JUMP/STICKY JUMP CORRECTLY.If you were trolling, then, sure, its fine, but legitly having no skill and instead just farmed all of that?...*facepalm* Ok,rant over.
I like how you see the things. For me, hats are just options for personalization, like in every f2p game. As a player you want to be unique on the battle field, you want to stand out and not look like very other player and this is totally okay since this option wouldn't exist then. But I don't get my hats from uncrating or buying them from the shop (except one to be premium player), I smelt my hard earned weapons into metall and then make a hat iut of them. So I get a hat only from, well 2-3 months gameplay? I guess I could get more if i would play more frequently. If this and only this would be the option to get a hat THAN it would mean something since you can only get one from palying a lot and that means something. It doesn'nt make you better but it shows that you should have some experience in the game. Since this isn't the case and hats are easily to optain especially if you pay money they are only a customization for your ingame character. Without hats everyone would look the same. At least this gives one advantage. You can better differ from your teammates and can stick to the ones you trust more. Btw, I think also that TF2 has a friendly community, a more friendly community like let's say L4D another game from Valve. People won't kick you off for every stuff you do on the server like in L4D. And I know a game that is worse with this customization stuff. If you think Valves hats are bad you never heard of Mabinogi and it's Fashionogis. Trust me, these are the real bad cases.
TrueVampire100 "Where you don't get kicked for every single thing you do" trust me, i've been kicked from 2 servers just for saying "shut up" because some1 was annoying... 1 time even my steam crashed :/
i feel for you. however i may feed this because i give extra unusuals to new players (gibus players, F2P's, ect...) for free. but only if i see they have skill. (they kill me 15 times or so, reach top of leaderbord, or dominate one of the top players on the server) so im sorry if this makes you mad. :(
I've used like 20 keys still no unusual yet nearly 1000 hours. I've also met people who have used over 50 keys which you could buy many unusuals for but they didn't uncrate a single one.
Umm... I don't know about you guys, but I think a HAT is not just a HAT. It shows how much better you are than someone who doesn't own a HAT of your status.
Only a hat? ONLY A HAT?!?!?!?! Do you have ANY idea what you're suggesting? Do you honestly mean to tell me that having a bare head, or a head adorned by some kind of covering, preferably with animated special effects, has no bearing on your ability to wage war? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? Cuz I don't.
Griffin the griffin Umn, no, it makes it easier for sniper to position his crosshair so he can headshot you. And that is why I like effects like Smoking or Nuts 'n' bolts, they are so subtle.
The only thing Premium does for you, is allow you to trade really. I read F2P's can only receive items, but not give them. Buying Premium apparently lets you give as well as receive.
This video and alot of the comments to this video shows a common mistake alot of people seem to make these Days. Having a unusual or a generally thought to be a good hat/misc/whatever means usually 2 things. 1. you have way to much Money to throw at a game. 2. you have invested alot of time into your game. Sure we can debate wich of those options is the most common all day long, but to me it all seems rather pointless as having said unusual/hat/misc/whatever probably means you have invested alot of time into playing this game. To me a hat does not represent skill but rather time, and that is the mistake alot of people seem to make.
derek rivera Well, it IS a hat simulator. However, the guns, and by extension, the shooting exists due to a very popular mini-game that allows players to go head-to-head against one another with their hats to see who truly has the better hat. That is the ONLY reason why Team Fortress 2 has guns.
FlameWarProductions for some is an fps game for others is a rp and dress up game thou i have to admit bout the players thinking tf2 is a shooter game. if it was a hat simulator it would have been named hat fortress XD
FlameWarProductions and besides back wen tf2 started in 2007 there actually no such thing as hats or dif weapons just the default ones and yer own skills
derek rivera lol the gold botkiller knife mk.I is worth 3 keys and the cheapest unusuals are worth like 10 keys . And also if the effect was burning flames or orbiting flames the hat would be valued over a bud
And the fact that unusuals make sniping really easy (effects can be seen through a certain distance where sometimes you cant see the player but you can see the effects)
I love the fact, that I usually have a lot more time spent on Tf2, than most professional players, and I've yet to obtain an Unusual, and actual skill.
Stranges are when you know someone can kick your trash to the curb. Snipers with headshot kills that match the regular kills are something to be feared.
The only thing u get out of unusuals is the medic on a pub might heal u instead of a f2p because they think youll do better. But thats not always the case
As the usual commander/tactician/assassin of my team, I'd actually find that these Unusuals will just make me a bigger target, something I have to NOT be :/
I will uber the good player and not the noob It doesnt matter if you have a hat or not It shows ingame how good you are and i always go for that You can be the bestsuited Heavy ever but you cant get past a flippin sentry even with uber? Not someone i would uber again
Go through youtube and notice how many Highlanders have use an Unusual. Both from the streamer and their teammates/enemies. Anyway, for the Uber,by the time the second Uber is ready, you should be able to see which Demo is better anyway.(Beginning of the Round? Why Uber/Krietz the Demoman there again?)
I'll uber the guy I saw playing before. One time, I was playing as medic on dustbowl, and I had the choice to uber a unusual-wearing guy and a no-hat guy. I multi-ubered them, (they were both playing heavy) and you know what? The unusual guy missed everything, couldn't even aim correctly. The no-hat guy destroyed all the camp alone, while the unusual guy was killed just after the uber. I'm playing TF2 for 2 years, and sometimes I go on trade server. I'm doing rampage on every life. When an unusual-army is coming for me, I killed them without a single hat. And I'm sure, at this moment, if I was wearing hat, they said "gg" instead of "wow lucky noob".
I once übered a heavy on bad water. The first time I had built up an über during set up. I look for the closest player, found a heavy, popped the ubs just as the gate opens. And what does the heavy do? He walks out and crouch next to the cart, shooting after a another übered gentleman. And its only when the über wears off he begins to walk out and shoot the sentry and die. Me? I ran straight back to spawn, changed to the THSS Demo (TryHard Sticky Spammer) and destroyed their 3 sentry, sentry nest. I was wearing nothing but DA GIBUS! And them: Lucky n00b. L2P scrub.
All I learned from owning an unusual is that it makes me worse at the game because I focus more on trading it and showing it off then I do actually playing. I am glad I sold it
