I know this is years late but to answer your question, everyone is affected whether they’re an active player or not. You either need to be completely alone or have everyone in the house play with you. They will need their own items items for the game, of course, and everyone must be aware of the rules. I especially suggest that anyone who is easily scared do not play this, as there is no way to end the game early. Turning on the lights and leaving the house are against the rules, and will not end the game.

1. Staying in the salt circle will let you survive the remainder of the game. But there are sources that say using the salt means you loose. 2.Not necessarily. You’re just as likely to be haunted and plagued by nightmares until you replay the game and finish it to it’s proper conclusion. 3. Has to be a wooden door or it won’t work. 4. I don’t think so. Just needs to at least have a drop of your own blood, and don’t attempt to use someone else’s blood. 5. It needs to be exactly 22 knocks with the final knock made at Midnight. No more, no less. Won’t work otherwise. Just make sure to open the door, blow out the candle, close the door again, and relight the candle quickly after you knock. 6. I think you loose but not entirely sure. 7. Whatever you hear, whatever you see, do not move from the salt circle until after 3:33 am. Just sit tight and stay quiet, and you will be fine as long as the salt circle isn’t broken. So if it becomes necessary make sure you have enough salt to make a big enough circle so that you can sit comfortably. Avoid fans, vents, and anything else that can disturb the circle. 8. You live if you win or survive the night in the salt circle, but it’s not a 100% guarantee that you will be left alone afterwards. A door has been opened, and when it comes to spirits that door becomes hard or impossible to close afterwards. It’s possible you will be haunted. 9. Not certain what exactly will happen if the rules are broken but I’ll take a guess and say the consequences are severe. One rule that was left out is once the game begins you cannot leave the house. Leaving or turning on the lights will not end the game early, and there are no viable ways to end it early if you are too tired or scared.
