Sfouf | Fluffy Orange & Turmeric Cake

You will love this fluffy, sunny yellow cake with turmeric and anise that can be whipped up in no time!
2 medium sized oranges (thinly sliced)
1/4 cup simple syrup (1/4 cup more to drizzle on top)
2 tablespoons tahini
2 tablespoons lightly toasted sesame seeds
2 cups flour
1/2 cup semolina (fine)
2 teaspoon turmeric
2 teaspoon ground anise
1 teaspoon Mahlab
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup clarified butter
1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 cup plain yoghurt
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons orange blossom water
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup slivered almonds or pine nuts
Bake in a preheated oven (350F/190C) for approximately 55 to 60 mins
Serve warm drizzled with simple syrup flavoured with orange blossom water.
Yoghurt topping
1 cup plain yoghurt
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Orange zest to garnish
